WHO KILLED RUSHWATER?

THERE IS NO DEADLINE. Suspects can be added at any time! However, the sooner I get a list ready, the sooner this can begin.

mere days after his return to riverclan, the once-respected stoic sleuth faded without a trace once more. like a trick candle, only to be stifled yet again. and like that, he was gone.

and for a while, no one questioned it. because he had gone once, he could go again. who was to stop him anyway?

BUILDUP.

rushwater went missing in december of 2023. as it turns out, while investigating clues of minkpaw’s death, he was chased by a dog through the territory, mauled, and subsequently saved by twolegs. he narrowly recovered and was neutered, then adopted out. unable to escape for a few weeks, rushwater had time to think and recover from his injuries though they left him with a permanent rasp to his voice and even more mental scars.
finally escaping through an open window, he made his way back home and tentatively rejoined riverclan in february 2024. it was a few short days of rest he got as he tried to return to life as normal before, once more, rushwater disappeared without a trace.
no one was sure why or how he had disappeared again, but unfortunately as it had happened just before, no one was horribly surprised. not even his own daughter, who had her trust shattered by losing him for a second time.

while out with a trusted warrior, eaglepaw stumbles upon the snapped chain collar that her father had returned to the clans wearing. he had tried vehemently to tear it off when he had returned, to no avail. so for it to be snapped and laid, forgotten on the ground all these sunrises later was a horrible omen. rusted with dried blood and a chain link snapped, it is clear that that the collar has been there for quite some time. this is where our story begins.

LOOKING FOR SUSPECTS AND A CULPRIT.
with it now clear that rushwater’s disappearance likely had some foul play involved, and the outlook being quite grim, the biggest part of any murder mystery is the killer.
this roleplay is going to be a little unique in the sense that the suspect list and killer will not be public. secrecy is crucial, and it is preferable that anyone interested in being a suspect or the culprit has discord for ease of contact. it is through clues and evidence alone that the sleuths will be discovering their suspects and investigating people. players of suspects can not confirm that they are on the suspect list, and sleuths should not ask. relying on in-roleplay information is the point of this.
think of it almost like a game of clue. your goal is to prove your character’s innocence while still maintaining suspicion enough to turn an eye.

being a suspect can be entirely based on misinterpretation or grounded in reality! perhaps your character has voiced not liking rushwater’s views before, or were vying for deputy at the same time that he was. maybe your suspect is from shadowclan or thunderclan, and saw rushwater’s penchant for strategy as a threat to the safety of their clan. as long as the sleuths can see that there’s a possible motive or reason, you’re free to submit a character as a suspect!
