Opposumsnap lay in the clearing, yawning when he heard his name called. Blazepaw, yeah? Well I guess I need to leave camp eventually… Rising to his paws, he stretched, gazing at Blazepaw with disgust. It wasn’t the apprentice he didn’t like; It was the leaving camp part. So what if this was important? He didn’t want to help the clan, but now he was forced. After touching noses, he nodded to the apprentice den. That’ll be where you stay from here on out. If you don’t listen to me, I will tear you in half. First rule; No going out late. Second- A cat padded over.
Don’t be so hard on an apprentice. She might not be my kit but I’m not going to listen to an apprentice whining because of some damn rules a mentor set. Cicadaflight, a small queen, padded off to the nursery to calm her kits. With a small growl, Opossum padded out of camp after gripping Blazepaw’s scruff and headed off to Smallpines. Ready to learn or not? He snapped, watching the apprentice intently for fear. If I see any fear in the cat’s gaze, blood with fill the clearing before any training is done.

Blazepaw was simply trying to get some training in, taking an active role in his apprenticeship and not waiting for his mentor to come over and bother him first- but before he could even get a word in, his mentor spat out something about rules and respect and grabbed him by the scruff, before trying to drag him off to the Smallpines. What was his problem? "Of course I'm ready to learn, teach," Blazepaw meowed sardonically. Why did Bumblestar have to place him with Opossumsnap, of all warriors? He was pretty sure the older tom would rather have his ear bit off then be helpful to anyone. Blazepaw smiled in a borderline threatening way, showing that he wasn't going to accept any further disrespect from this old man. He wanted to become stronger, not be cowed and snapped at for no reason.

Opposumsnap saw courage in the apprentice’s eyes. His hard gaze softened. Good. He grumbled. At least some cats are brave enough to fight. A warm glow filled his eyes. Sorry for my toughness. My mentor.. Wasn’t the best. I’m not the kindest cat but my mentor taught me fighting over love.. I have never had kits because of my attitude. Anyways, I’m Opossumsnap. I will try to train you. He added, his voice rather grumpy again.
First, we will do the basic hunter’s crouch. Try to do it. It doesn’t have to be perfect but you’ll be returning to camp with ATLEAST one piece of prey for camp. You might be a new apprentice but you’re no different. You are the future of the clan. He ordered, sitting a short distance away from Blazepaw as he awaited the cat’s reply.

Blazepaw listened to his mentor's words with a still unamused gaze, deciding to just let his capability speak for itself. He had to bring back a piece of prey? Fine. That just meant he would catch even more than his mentor asked for.

Admittedly, Blazepaw hadn't been training for long, so he wouldn't delude himself into thinking his technique was perfect- but he wasn't clueless either. Blazepaw bowed down low the ground, stretching a paw out in front of him to pounce or swat at a moment's notice, and tucked his legs in a way that left him ready to spring into action.

That will make for a good sneak attack if prey or enemies happen to bound under your nose. You may go. Remember. ATLEAST 1 piece of prey. Go ahead. Tomorrow, we will practice battle training. He meowed, flicking his tail, sending the apprentice off and resting on a boulder nearby, dozing off in seconds.

Blazepaw watched, feeling irritated, as his mentor walked away to lay down on a boulder and apparently take a nap. Maybe it was better to get Opossumsnap off of his back though, Blazepaw would be able to focus on hunting uninterrupted. He'd come back when he was satisfied with his catch.

(...about an hour later...)

"I'm finished," Blazepaw meowed, a bit more loud and harshly then he usually would in an attempt to wake up his mentor. The two mice he had caught laid at his feet. Blazepaw had gone for a bigger piece or two as well, like a squirrel and a bird he didn't recognize, but since he wasn't trained in climbing yet he wasn't able to get the kill. "Anything else you want to... teach me?"

Opossum glared at Blazepaw in disinterest. You didn’t catch anything. Tell me why. Not letting the apprentice respond, he continued. How about we learn to hunt, ya? ‘Cause you will be hunting for something next time. You’re lucky you’re a new apprentice or I’d have your tail. He grumbled. Opossum felt his anger bubbling, and took a small sigh.
Actually. I never showed you the territory and explained it to you. He grumbled, his disappointment at the thought of walking the borders. He had remembered the event that happened at the Shadowclan border and he wanted to fly down that border to make sure that foxheart was gone or he would rip him from ears to tail tip. But ofcourse, it was his apprentice’s choice.
