Mink In The Water [P] [KIT CLASS]

Mistycloud brought Minkkit to Cattail pond to learn how to swim.


"Minkkit! I'm going to start you off at the shallow end and slowly work your way out, can you get to where your toes can barely reach the ground?" Mistycloud asked politely. She waited for the kit to do so.

"Don't forget to churn your paws, it helps you stay afloat and move," Mistycloud said, nodding at the kit. Her icy blue eyes made sure the kit wasn't going to drown.

Toddling after Mistycloud as the warrior led her out of camp, the little kitten blinked owlish eyes at her surroundings. After quite a lengthy walk - one long enough that Minkkit's frame was starting to be put under the strain from - she and her impromptu mentor arrived at... some body of water.

'Course, Minkkit was too much of a scatter-brain to acknowledge that her body was tired of walking. She was also too distracted with staring at everything in her surroundings that moved.

However, at Mistycloud's direction, the kitten waddled forward and let herself follow direction as well as can be. She did pause halfway to splash and make friends with stray bubbles on the surface, however, sufficiently getting sidetracked. "Hello there, Mr. Bubble Sir. How do you do?"

Mistycloud clicked her tongue to gain the kit's attention.

"Don't forget to churn your paws, it helps you stay afloat and move," Mistycloud repeated, nodding at the kit.

The silvery-eyed kitten blinked, and then splashed her paws dumbly around some more. Until she realized what Mistycloud was saying, and then cast out her slender paws, shifting further in the water as she learned how to float.

Mistycloud smiled at the kit who began to swim.

"I'm going to step back a few tail-lengths and I'm going to see if you can swim to me. If you make it you pass this class, if not, you have to retake it, ok?" the white warrior mewed. She started to take a few steps back.

Wide, owlish eyes tracked Mistycloud's movements as the older feline backtracked, moving away. A furrow formed between Minkkit's brows. Why was Ms. Bubbles going so far away? Pa always said to listen to what people were saying, but Minkkit had a bad idea of not listening. It wasn't on purpose... but...

"Come back, Ms. Bubbles." The silvery kitten mewled, and then realized that she could go to Mistycloud. Tentatively, the kitten began paddling, until she reached the warriors' side, and then attempted to pat her teacher with one of her paws, as if making sure she wasn't a ghost. "Hello there, how-do-you-do?"

Mistycloud giggled at Minkkit When she goes to Windclan, she'll sure miss this one.

"Good job there, you passed the class," she smiled and carried the kitten out of the water and brought her back to camp.
