sugarbee // she/her // wc

The molly hummed under her breath as she wove her way through the crowd. She wasn’t searching for anyone in particular, just someone who looked like they might need a gathering buddy. Her ears twitched as she walked, catching the sound of a small kerfuffle which intrigued her enough to turn her gaze upon the offending cats. It was disappointing but not surprising, and Sugarbee huffed a quiet ‘Tsk’ as she watched Laurelpaw and Leechscar, soon joined by Twilightstar, and there at the center of it was a small kit. Really, was there even a point of having a warrior code anymore? Clearly no one bothered following.

She wished to step in and assist the kit, perhaps offer some kindness and gentle redirection. Obviously the poor thing had no clue was they stumbled upon, or that they were breaking any rules. But alas, the moment had passed and Sugarbee simply had to move on.

Continuing her hunt for a gathering buddy, her eyes finally landed upon the perfect candidate: A rather growly ShadowClan warrior, who looked like they needed a little bit of sunshine. Either she would cheer them up or annoy them, and Sugarbee found both of those options to be perfectly entertaining. “Good evening!” She chirped, settling beside the warrior without so much as asking permission. “It seems like ShadowClan has had a good moon,” she remarked as she listened to Dawnstar’s announcement. She caught sight of their claws digging into the ground, sparking a sarcastic, ‘Wow, that sure is intimidating!’ Fortunately, she was sensible enough to keep thoughts like those in her head; she didn’t want to be the one responsible for making Grouchy break the truce.

"Nice to meet you, Nightpaw ( @Ravenss ), I'm Flamepaw. This here's Ospreypaw. We... don't quite know his name yet," she shrugged but completely understood if the tom didn't want to reveal his name. He was from rival Clan, and with it being ShadowClan... well, his reasoning is self-explanatory. RiverClan had stolen Cinderpaw from ThunderClan during the battle of Firefly Cove. It had been an apprentice to speak up about it, but this apprentice wasn't the one.

Chaos appeared to be unfolding and it stole away the attention of Flamepaw briefly before she brought it back to the current conversation. Ospreypaw flicked as if he were nervous, which was understandable. The ShadowClan tom wondered how these two would react if they knew he was the grandson and apprentice of Dawnstar.

Then Ospreypaw was speaking to him again and his green eyes traveled back over to the tom. More nervous twitching. He didn't want to call him 'ShadowClan apprentice'? "Then don't." Voice monotone without a single drop of emotion in it. Green eyes stared back at him, unblinking, for several moments until another voice turned his ears. This cat was new, and did not smell of the two before him. Nightpaw. Smelling distinctly of water and fish... RiverClan then, perhaps? He watched her, jaw remaining shut as he spoke no words to her.

Ospreypaw frowned lightly at the response of Roanpaw, tail twitching slightly at the slightly rude response. "Hey, I just want to be your friend! There's no need to be so mean!" He said with a small pout on his face, ears flattening slightly in sadness though they perked up again when they heard a stuttering voice.

His eyes turned toward the new cat joining them, Nightpaw, "Hello Nightpaw! I'm happy to meet you!" he chirped and his tail waved in a greeting toward the RiverClan apprentice who came over.

Fogcloud sighed lightly as the branch families calmed down slightly, nodding to Lilycreek and Silverpaw before turning their gaze toward Dawnstar, ear twitching, glad that that Shadowclan was doing good even if they were a bit much for them.

Coyotecrash glared once more at Burningfrost before turning to listen to Dawnstar, tail twitching, she was a scary leader and they did not want to get onto the bad side of Dawnstar.

Newtlight would be what she called right on time. Dawnstar had already started of on Shadowclan's announcements, she picked up little snippets as she weaved through the crowded floor looking for somewhere to be seated. The black molly finally sat by herself near the shore of the sandy beach, her eyes trailing along those in power noting that Shadowclans deputy had yet to arrive. Strange. They would probably never see him again either since Dawnstar had to be livid. Her voice intermingled with the others as they chanted the name of the Shadowclan's new kits and apprentices.

Default Re: October Gathering

Slatestripe’s attention turned from WindClan’s troublesome members back to the leaders as Dawnstar called for the Gathering to begin. Almost immediately, Slatestripe noticed that only two deputies were present. It made sense that RiverClan had no deputy representing them, since Slatewhisker was dead. But where was Cinderblaze? It was incredibly stupid of the ShadowClan deputy to not show up, unless he was dead. It didn’t seem like Dawnstar to wait to appoint a new deputy, so Slatestripe assumed he just hadn’t shown.

I bet we’ll never see him again, the RiverClan warrior thought. Dawnstar would surely rip him to shreds for skipping a Gathering.

The black and gray tom listened with interest to Dawnstar’s announcements, looking for anything that would hint as to why her deputy hadn’t shown. His curiosity was not satisfied; the ShadowClan leader only gave generic announcements about new kits and apprentices. As was custom for him, Slatestripe did not chant their names. He preferred if his enemies didn’t have more paws to feed them and fight for them.

Shadowfur’s fur stood on end as the Gathering began without Cinderblaze. Where the hell was their deputy!? Was he truly so disgraceful that he’d leave their Clan underrepresented? What would the other Clans think of them!?

Then again, RiverClan’s deputy hadn’t shown, either. Under normal circumstances, Shadowfur would’ve laughed at that. Pathetic guppies not being able to keep their high ranks in order, as usual. But tonight, he didn’t have any ground to laugh on. Not when ShadowClan’s own deputy seemed to be missing.

He yowled the names of ShadowClan’s new apprentices, especially his own. He wanted the other Clans to see that ShadowClan still stood in solidarity with one another.

Oriolepaw shrunk in on himself as Dawnstar called for the Gathering to begin. Even an inexperienced apprentice like him could tell that she meant bad business. The massive she-cat seemed viciously angry, looking as if she wanted to rip someone to shreds. The black and orange apprentice wondered what had happened to get her so incredibly angry. I guess all the nursery tales about her were true! She really is a monstrous cat.

When others called out the names of ShadowClan’s new apprentices, Oriolepaw realized that this must be a custom of some sort. In a shaky voice, he chanted their names. It felt odd, cheering for cats from another Clan. Weren’t they supposed to all be enemies?

High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]

- Copperfire -
He/Him
As Dawnstar began the gathering, Copperfire quickly realized that this was it. Of the three deputies he'd met during the last gathering, only one had shown up. Did they both die? Did becoming a deputy suddenly put a marker on your back for every predator, twoleg, or future Dark Forest cat to see?

Unsettled by his conclusion, the tom hunched in on himself, watching the gathering with a guarded look. "Who's next?" He quietly asked the morbid question. He felt an odd sort of amusement at the situation. Maybe "next" would be whoever the two new deputies would be. Maybe it'd be Fallownose. Maybe it'd be himself, given ThunderClan's bad track record with high-rank longevity.

After finishing her little speech with the support of Darkpaw’s nods of approval and little hums of acknowledgement, the grey-brown apprentice had been expectantly waiting for Ashpaw to respond when a shadow loomed over their little group, and Larkpaw turned her head to inspect the newcomer. A newcomer who smelled strongly of WindClan. Lark’s brows furrowed slightly as she took in the other she-cat’s appearance, from her lilac grey fur to the scars branding her pelt.

Only when the one-eyed, battle-scarred she-cat began speaking, scolding Ashpaw for arriving before her and the rest of her Clan, was the young feline hit with sudden understanding. Larkpaw found herself staring dumbly at Twilightstar for a few long, slow moments before her brain started working properly again. Oh. Oh. This was very obviously Twilightstar. The former loner couldn’t help but feel idiotic for not realizing it sooner, and she chided herself for it. She’d do better next time. Pushing away the momentary shame, Larkpaw’s mind began spinning into a multitude of possibilities. Dawnstar had mentioned something about WindClan and ShadowClan not getting along, right? It made Larkpaw wonder if all four leaders had so many scars to show off, as both Dawnstar and now Twilightstar were filled with them. Dash, she really should hunt down her mentor and demand him to train her, former loner or not. He couldn’t be that ashamed of training an outsider, right? Right?

Great, now Larkpaw’s thought process was spiraling into self-doubt. She should really stop throwing mock pity parties for herself, even if they were internal ones. Besides, an apprentice who moped around over their bad luck wasn’t an apprentice at all! Larkpaw would just have to see about bothering random warriors to take her out on training.

When her attention returned to the WindClanners, Larkpaw couldn’t help but cringe with second-hand embarrassment at Ashpaw’s response to Twilightstar. The other apprentice had merely apologized and scurried off to talk to another cat, completely turning her back on her leader. Ouch. Lark would never dare, not even dream, to pull a stunt like that on Dawnstar.

Turning back to the task at hand, Larkpaw exhaled, tipping her head to the side as Darkpaw began to speak. Oh, right. Twilightstar was a leader. Damnit, she should have thought to introduce herself first. Her frame visibly relaxed when Darkpaw went ahead and introduced her as well. That was new, because at least she was being included in something, despite the fact that she’d not thought to speak first and seize the opportunity. Huh, Darkpaw was rather smart, as he’d established that the both of them were zero threat in barely three sentences.

The lithe grey she-cat blinked, fiery amber eyes flitting back and forth between her denmate and the WindClan leader. It made her feel a bit envious of the skill, yet vaguely proud at the same time, because now she could boast about having a denmate who hadn’t lost his levelheadedness in the presence of a leader to the other Clan apprentices. That wasn’t quite something to boast about… Especially for her, but oh well. Lark would take anything she could get. Larkpaw hadn’t been a member of ShadowClan for long, only about two moons now, but still, surely she could still prove that her newfound Clan was the best of the four?

Shaking her head, Larkpaw nodded and flicked her tail when Darkpaw was done talking, gaze locking onto Twilightstar. She didn’t bother with pleasantries, though, and instead cut straight to the point. “Apologies for the added interruption, but Darkpaw and I know better than to get violent during a Gathering.” She said simply, and then sat back, wrapping her tail neatly around her paws.

[ @Darkclaws - Darkpaw / @Moonraven - Twilightstar | Btw, Ashpaw’s response to Twilightstar is here, but @/SpookyCloud the Pumpkin didn’t mention anyone. Either they forgot or just didn’t think that they should mention ]

(Open! Berrypaw needs at least 3 posts here, so interactions are entirely welcome!)

Slowly, cautiously, Berrypaw inched onto the beach. Her each and every pawstep was placed with great care, following slowly after Twilightstar. When the lilac-furred feline veered off to go scold an apprentice, Berrypaw nearly followed suit, so determined in her goal not to be thrown off track that she didn’t notice where she was going until she almost ran into someones flank. She realized, rather belatedly, that most of her Clanmates had dispersed already, going off to speak or share tongues with cats from other Clans.

Here was where Berrypaw froze, standing alone in the center of Seastones without anything to do, and no one to talk to. The young, speckled apprentice’s fur swayed slightly in the breeze, and one of her rounded, tufted ears flicked. Her gaze flitted in the direction of Badgerpaw and Laurelpaw, denmates of hers, and Berrypaw visibly winced for the male apprentice when Laurelpaw’s jaws closed around his muzzle. Her eyes widened considerably, seeing the now bloody state Badgerpaw was in. Laurelpaw had just attacked her own Clanmate infront of an entire Gathering? There had to be something somewhere about that saying it was wrong. Probably… But Berrypaw wasn't going to involve herself in any violence. That was the last thing she wanted.

Darkpaw
___________
[43/100]

Darkpaw turned back towards Larkpaw and offered the former loner a grin, “That was pretty intense, huh?” He asked “Meeting Twilightstar and that other cat of course,” he added. Truth be told, he had been pretty intimidated by the appearance of the WindClan leader and not so much the tom that had joined later, however, seeing her scar-riddled pelt only made him more pumped to have a taste of battle one day himself. This, of course, was just so that he’d be able to show off the training Cinderblaze had given him and prove himself a valuable asset to the clan. Speaking of Cinderblaze, the tom hadn’t seen his mentor at the gathering yet. ‘I wonder what that’s about’ he thought curiously before pushing the thought from his mind. If only he could tell Snailpounce about the encounter! His mother had died a few days before and he hoped to come to the gathering would be able to distract him from the pain a bit and with the way, things were going, he was sure they would. Things were already getting interesting.

Briefly turning towards the leaders as Dawnstar began to speak, he listened to her began to list the announcements of the happenings of the clan and nodded in approval when the leader mentioned the birth of his new siblings. Though he lost his mother in the process of their birth, he was overjoyed that Dawnstar had taken the time to actually announce the newest additions to the clan. It was almost as if they were being officially welcomed and as if his mother's sacrifice hadn't been in vain. 'I'll do everything for those kits' he promised himself, as faced Larkpaw once again after Dawnstar finished her report.

Now that it was just the two of them, Darkpaw actually got an opportunity to take in Larkpaw’s lithe grey form as the moonlight shone on her. She was actually kinda pretty he determined after taking note of how her pelt seemed to shimmer in the moonlight. He hadn’t really interacted with her much before as she hadn’t been with the clan long, but he was finally able to get a good look at her. Darkpaw suddenly got a new idea and a grin once again wormed it’s way onto his maw, he was going to have a little fun with her he decided. Inching his tail towards hers, he cleared his throat a little. “Larkpaw, you look absolutely ravishing tonight, would you mind keeping me company while we’re here at the gathering?” the black tabby purred in the invitation, giving the grey she-cat a flirtatious wink.
[ @/Katulaura so umm I couldn’t figure out if you had another response after this one so I’ll just use this as a reference ]

Larkpaw

As Twilightstar thanked her and Darkpaw before moving off, Larkpaw had remained where she was with a nod of acknowledgement towards the parting leader, seeing no point in moving elsewhere. Orange hues flitted in Darkpaw's direction as he spoke to her, and she silently arched an eyebrow. Intense? Perhaps, but Larkpaw was too proud to admit being spooked. ... Not that she'd been afraid... Shaking her head, Larkpaw glanced sidelong at her companion. "I suppose you could say that." She said simply, and then turned away when he did.

Her attention locked onto the Clan leader's, especially on Dawnstar when the colossal feline mentioned Larkpaw's name. Her ears perked at the mention, and Lark tipped her head to the side in question. Huh. She hadn't known leaders announced their current standing apprentices, or at least, the new ones. Taking headcount of the deputies once Dawnstar was done speaking, Lark noticed there were only two. One of WindClan and the other of ThunderClan. The damsels mouth pulled downward into a confused frown, but she said nothing. Where was Cinderblaze? She'd only just shrugged the matter of dwindling deputies away when a voice next to her suddenly started speaking, and Larkpaw turned in the direction of her denmate. She'd honestly forgotten he'd been sitting there.

Turning back in his direction, Lark was rightfully startled by the flirting note in his voice. Again, she raised an eyebrow at the other apprentice, suspiciously trying to figure out what the tom was getting at. But truly, after speaking, Darkpaw fell silent, evidently awaiting her response. Lark waited a beat or two before letting her muscles relax. She was being foolish to think that someone in ShadowClan would try to charm her into doing their bidding as her mother had once done. The grim line that had been her mouth moments before turned into an amiable grin. Ah, so he wanted to flirt? Two could play that game.

She leaned in without skipping a beat, tone hushed as if relating a conspiratorial whisper. "You're not too bad yourself, lovely Darkpaw." Larkpaw teased smoothly in a tone laced with mirth, amusement gleaming in her fiery amber gaze. "In fact, I'm surprised you and your handsomeness don't have more cats on your tail, seeing as you were occupied by a WindClan apprentice within moments of getting here." The corners of her mouth turned upward in a semblance of a smile, and Lark sat back again with satisfaction. Squaring her shoulders, puffing out her chest, and adopting a look of mock fierceness, Lark opened her mouth once more. "Maybe I've scared them all off." The slim, grey-ish brown apprentice joked.
