Petal and Minnow
Petal felt her body collide full speed into Kestrels. The impact sent both cats rolling over her brother. She heard his audible huff as the breath was pushed from his lungs as a result of the force. The enemy cat's eyes seemed full of anger and annoyance as they were locked with Petals own. Suddenly the ginger molly noticed Kestrel's eyes dart behind her at Minnow. As if! Mangy fleabag! Petal could read her opponents intention from the quick subtle glance. The hostile she-cat rose to her paws rapidly swiping at Minnow while jumping back, but Petal was prepared. She swiped Kestrels paw down away from her brother.
She took a defensive stance, haunches down shoulders up in front of her brother's body laying behind her in the dirt. She heard Minnow's raspy tired voice behind her. "Flip her!" Kestrel had left the ground yet again leaping at Petal. The ginger she-cat allowed herself to fall flat on her back and stuck all four paws into the air claw's extended. Petal was ready to rake her enemy as she leaped overhead and toss her across the grassy field.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Minnow groaned as both she-cats equally bigger than he was, went rolling over his already badly wounded body. As he squinted through the pain Minnow saw claws coming toward him fast, but another paw soon came down to bat it away. He had no time to feel relieved. His one open green eye fully refocused now on Kestrel. He watched as she tensed her lithe muscles readying for a leap. The thought passed through him like lightning, and the words seemed to flow like rapids from his lips. "Flip her!" His sister had now moved in front of him, so that he could not see.
Petal flung herself violently onto her back as planned and Minnow managed to somehow roll out of his sisters way so that their heads did not collide.

Petal and Minnow
Much to Petal's surprise, Kestrel managed to fluidly twirl her body upside down in mid air to the right. This maneuver made it so Petal was only able to adjust in time to land blows with her forepaws, and only to her opponents back as she flew overhead. Even more incredibly the hostile she-cat managed to land on her paws again, not being remotely effected by the added momentum of being shoved. Show off. She thought bitterly. Her foe had landed parallel to her, and as Petal scrambled to her paws Kestrel nipped at her crooked tail catching only air as it was swiftly pulled away.
"Hey what's your deal?" She recognized Kestrel as one of the new loners who had recently moved into the territory. "Are you after our nest?" The ginger molly questioned. She didn't really like fighting, even if she was still furious about what a coward the loner was for trying to ambush her brother.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Minnow rolled to avoid his sisters head falling backwards, he felt his wounds burning against the dirty rough earth. He collected himself enough to see Kestel falling back to the ground on her paws in an amazing spectacle of control and balance. He tensed as Petal barley managed to slip her tail away from vicious incoming jaws. And just like that they were in exactly the same position as mere moments ago. Petal in front of him, and Kestrel in front of his sibling.
The silver tom sensed an opportunity as he heard his sisters queries. He summoned what strength he had left in his damaged body, lifting his unwilling limbs so that he was standing on all four paws again, if slightly hobbling on his right hind paw. Covered in blood and dirt Minnow puffed out his chest and tried to look as intimidating as possible standing next to his sister. "You can't beat the two of us by yourself." He let his meow boom, sucking in as much air as possible. "Besides we have friends who regularly patrol around here, they should be here any moment." He declared this grinning confidently. "It would be wise to leave now before they arrive and give you more lasting injuries."
Minnow understood this loner had only just arrived in the territory, she could not have fully searched every blade of grass...or gotten to know every cat. That was something that could be used to the duo's advantage.
@ Caspian I was thinking Kestrel could take the bait and leave for now, believing other cats may show up, and that to fight too many would be risky. Minnow is pretty messed up so once Kestrel leaves Petal and her brother will abandon their nest. Kestrel can come back later and take it over. Minnow and Petal live in an abandoned car factory which is where Kestrel can make her base now if you want.
She and Minnow will meet again, next time without petal.

Re: Home is where the fight is
Petal and Minnow
Before Petal's questions could be answered her brother was suddenly at her side speaking with a bravado and confidence she understood to be a boast. She backed his ploy flexing her claws eagerly as if ready to continue the fight at any moment. She watched as Kestrel flicked her tail as if to say I'll be back before turning to vanish into the tightly woven stalks of grass. For a moment Petal's body twitched forward, caught up in her aggressive acting. She had wanted to know why Kestrel would attack them, and to be honest she found it very annoying being ignored not once, but twice! The sound of her brother collapsing onto the earth brought her back to her senses.
Concern welled up inside the ginger molly as she took stock of her siblings situation. Her nerves briefly threatened to strangle all judgment and good sense, but Petal managed to bury her fears with great self control. With a numbness usually reserved for her brother the she-cat let her blue eyes roam his crumpled figure. A missing left ear, a twisted bloody right hind leg with a deep wound, and long claw marks across his right flank. It will be fine these aren't fatal, Petal assured herself. Even as she thought it, doubt was creeping its unsettling teeth into her tough mental carapace. Minnow looked as if he was breathing very unevenly, and his silver fur was covered in thick rolling streaks of blood from front to back. Top to bottom.
"Get up Minnow we need to find you a healer right now. Her voice was stern but encouraging. Minnow's sides were heaving, his voice struggling filled with both pain and exhaustion as he responded. "Oh yeah, sure..." He retorted sarcastically clearly unable to finish his snide remark due to the amount of effort it would have taken. Petal snapped back at him "If you don't get on your paws right now I'm going to drag you by the scruff like a kit." She was shocked by her own anger, but knew exactly what emotions lay behind it. I'm not gonna let you give up on me. We've been through too much together for a few wounds to take you down.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Minnow uttered a low growl of frustration at his sister's words, but he let the anger drive him to stand upright. He stood there dizzily trying to fend off the desire to slip to a subconscious level of operation. It helped steady his mind once he felt his sisters pelt against his. She had braced herself and was allowing him to drop his weight onto her flank so he would have less trouble walking. Slowly, steadily the duo padded forward gingerly. With each breath the silver tomcat could feel what must have been a broken rib or two jabbing his insides. He guessed it had happened when both she-cats had tumbled over him. The adrenaline was wearing off now, which explained why he had only just noticed this now.
I don't know how much longer I can walk like this. He thought dejectedly. Almost Immediately his sister's voice chimed in. "Just keep walking, we will be fine as long as you keep walking." Determination was oozing from her voice. "There are some friendly loners not far from here. He guessed she was reading his mood. She was one of the very few cats who could. His ears, or what was left of them folded back at her second set of words. Who is she talking about? I haven't seen her spend time with anyone in this direction. Is it possible that she slipped away one night while I was sleeping? Neither cat was normally separate from the other, and they were headed south from their den. Not a direction Minnow recalled traveling.
The tom hoped his sister knew what she was doing, he did not trust easily. The idea that he would have to rely on anothers good graces did not appeal to him but he was too tired to argue. He followed her lead obediently, the pair padding off into the sunset. Minnow propped up by his sisters shoulder.
