The winds that periodically swept through the camp were slowly but surely becoming less and less cold as the season shifted towards newleaf. Icekit didn't mind at all, on the contrary, he was relived prey would become easier to find and rounder, herbs, some vital for the clan's well-being, and soon the rivers and lakes would melt, finally giving young apprentices and even some older kits the opportunity to learn to swim.
And thanks to the warmer breezes Icekit had chosen to sit outside a little more, instead of waiting around in his den and wait for something even mildly interesting. It was much more informing to watch cats here rather than inside the nursery, where only queens, their kits, and if they were lucky, their mates hung around. Out here he could observe warriors, apprentices, and the occasional elder, or high rank to if he was lucky enough. Though there wasn't too much going on today however, and Icekit had chosen to loaf down and relax a little more, turning down his attentiveness slightly and being more lost in his thoughts. Until a flicker of movement from the corner of his eye, and turned to see Nectarrose, eating, Nothing to catch his interest, but he was bored, with nothing much to do, and she did seem open for some talk...
Oh well, what could it hurt to try anyway. He rose up, stretch slightly to get away the stiffness in his sturdy legs, and padded towards the warrior. "Morning." His voice was polite but not all that intrusive as he greeted the cat. "My apologies encase I am intruding on your personal time, I was simply looking for a conversation partner, if you would like the company."
❄ Snowleap (he/them) ❄ [ @iris | @poppy. | @door~ ] ( Next post will be made in Cattail Pond. )
➢ As the tall dark-furred shield waited for a few quiet moments, he was glad to see a few cats approach him upon his offer. “Good afternoon, Hazelstorm,” Snowleap meowed, dipping his head in a polite greeting to the tabby shecat, “I’d be happy for you to join me.” He could tell from her body-language and expression that she was not in the best of moods, but honestly, the oriental longhair couldn’t blame her, given how things have been lately. Snowleap’s gaze flickered over to Birdpaw, who was the next to approach (at an alarming speed). “Of course, Birdpaw, you can come,” The young Riverclan shield meowed with a chuckle, “I would love to see your hunting techniques.” He gave the small apprentice a warm smile, seeing how excited she was to come along on his small hunting patrol. It was so nice to spend more time with her, seeing how the kind molly never failed to brighten his own mood. Lastly, Snowleap blinked at Raccoonear, his closest and bestest friend in all of Riverclan, coming over to join them. “Raccoonear!” He exclaimed with a purr rumbling from within his throat, “Thank you for joining us, my friend.” It was so nice to see his dear friend again. He had enough cats now.
He looked around at the three cats who had gathered. “Thank you to all of you for coming, I don’t usually call patrols, but I thought it’d be nice to do something productive on such a dreary day.” Snowleap remarked, then turned his gaze over to the clearing’s entrance, “Let’s head out then and not waste anymore time.” The oriental longhair smiled the whole time, genuinely happy to do this hunting patrol with three willing clanmates. With his tail swishing behind him, he turned his body towards the camp entrance and began to head off like usual, gesturing with a flick of one large ear for Hazelstorm, Birdpaw, and Raccoonear to follow him.
( Apologies for the wait, everyone! It was quite late when I posted the starter for this and I was very tired. )
The she-cat raised her head as a kit approached her. She was not at all surprised when the tom started speaking. That was... kits. She gave him a brief nod. "Good Morning," she replied in a leveled tone. No, you're not at all intruding. I was a little bored anyway." She decided to be patient with this kit, at least for now.
Nectarrose was a cat who's patience didn't take long to run out. However, she was sometimes able to spare a few minutes for small talk, though she did prefer to use time productively. Well, eating fish wasn't exactly productive, either, so she could certainly chit-chat with this tomcat as long as he wanted. Only if it was about rather important things, though.
"I'm Nectarrose. Not sure if you know me. And who are you?" It was probably going to be the easiest to start off the conversation by introducing herself. Nectarrose wasn't the best conversation starter. Most of the time, she hung arround the clan, sometimes hunting, sometimes relaxing. But it got really hard when cats started talking with her.
'Rich coming from you', she thought when he mentioned two-legs were dumb. She didn't say it out loud. He was her father and he had far more respect than that. Plus he was her best friend she didn't want to upset him. "Well they tried, but there was a kittypet there who went out and sneaked me in some prey. I did try it though and I never did again.", she meowed. Petuniapaw was grateful for that or she would have just starved.
Blizzardsky was frankly impressed by that kittypet," A kittypet managed to catch prey for you. Wow. I didn't think they could hunt. Did you train them to hunt?" he asked. He genuinely couldn't believe a kittypet could hunt without a loner or clancat teaching them. He was just glad to have his daughter back in mostly one piece, well two pieces. One piece, the important piece was back, the tail piece was gone. But the important piece was back.

Green eyes gazed at Snowleap as he nodded. The brown tabby she-cat tipped her head down too, lifting it slightly, and stepped back politely, fully raising her head. what felt like seconds later, Birdpaw rushed up. Excited, wasn't she? A small, rather reluctant smile shed light on Hazelstorm's usually grim expression. She dipped her head towards Birdpaw in greeting.
Next to arrive was Raccoonear. Hazelstorm shifted her head to the side, eyes drifting up to the thick grey clouds, shadowing the sky. Why couldn't there be a little sun? She scratched at the ground with her claws sheathed, creating little x-marks in the dirt. Her head was down, but her ears were pricked as Snowleap's voice brought her back to the hunting expedition. She raised her gaze and searched the other cats' faces, wondering self-consciously what their opinion was on her.
She shook herself internally. Nope, nope. She didn't care - why did she have to remind herself that so many times? Noticing Snowleap's happy smile, Hazelstorm wished she could smile like that too. It was hard, okay? Difficult, to feel even a spot of brightness.
"Of course," she said formally, as the dark-furred tom turned around towards the camp entrance and headed towards it. Hazelstorm didn't look over her shoulder as she followed.
The lean apprentice made their way into Riverclan's clearing. They just got their new mentor, Oaksong, which they were somewhat eager to start training with. They didn't want a younger mentor that would be too energetic for their tastes, so maybe their new mentor, who was getting older in age, would work well with them. They sat down and started grooming themself. I don't know if I would be able to stand someone that wasn't Oaksong. But I guess I shouldn't be getting my hopes up about her, either. Oh well, what do I know? They chuckled to himself. They enjoyed making judgments about others; even as a kit, they'd spend days gossiping with the elders. But they'd have to get their act together if they was going to prove that they was the best warrior in their clan. Perhaps someday they would be leader? They shook their head at another silly thought. Leader? Am I crazy? That's a kit's dream, unlikely to be achieved. Anyways, Kestrelstar is as good as a leader can get. They looked around, in search for their new mentor.
Swanpaw sat in the clearing, leisurely bringing her rough tongue across her silky white pelt. She could not afford to look ugly, dirty and whatnot. The molly hated being so alone, with no one to talk to. The urge to let words spill out of her mouth pumped through her veins. Her breath became slightly ragged as she moved towards the center of the clearing, smiling at a random cat. "Hello," she meowed with a small grin. "I'm Swanpaw. What's your name?" After a lot of experience, the apprentice had finally withdrawn that it was best to start with introductions.

Kittypets could be smart. Probably not smart like a clan cat well most clan cats were. "I helped them with their crouch a bit, but the rest was all them. I wasn't allowed to leave the two-leg home.", she meowed. She needed as much time to heal. Petuniapaw had almost forgotten about the cat she had found while she was gone at two-leg place. "Oh I did meet someone related to Mom. He said he was her father. He seemed really nice.", Petuniapaw meowed.

On a really good stride on here and Barleypaw is really close to getting her post counts finished for her training. If there is anyone who needs a cat to help with anything feel free to VM or pm. I want her to be more active along her clanmates.
Eyes glued to the ground and camp edges, Racoonkit searched tirelessly around to find the shiniest of all the pebbles. It had to be pretty and smooth, rounded and gentle to touch! Or sharp with pointed corners and painful tips to touch. Yes, only the perfect pebble would join his tiny pile of ground sediment within the nursery.
Racoonkit had been walking in circles for ages by that point; trailing along the camp walls to check the edge of the clearing for any little stones that could have been kicked to the side or knocked about and forgotten by his den mates.
Racoonkits ringed tail was straight, held high, with the little white tip betraying his emotions with happy twitches everytime he found another contender for his exclusive club of rocks.

Blizzardsky smiled, it seemed she'd make a fine mentor one day, if she taught a kittypet to hunt," You'll make a great warrior one day." he meowed. Then he paused for a second at the next part. What was Petuniapaw talking about, Heronflight was a Riverclanner. She didn't have any family outside of Riverclan, unless they left," She never mentioned that she had family...that's interesting. She never mentioned that she had a brother who left Riverclan." he meowed. It seemed he was unknowingly getting closer to the truth about Heronflight's past some.
