Squirrelpaw huffed as she approached Dreamheart. Dreamy, I wanna go hunting. She murmured, tilting her head to the side. Her ears flopped along with her head. Really, she just wanted to surprise her mentor. Another warrior had taught her how to hunt, and she would show it off.

Dreamheart had been grooming Ferncurl in the Clearing, chuckling at her newly born nieces and nephews antics. When Squirrelpaw approached, the warrior paused and looked at her, fluffy tail twitching. "Hello Squirrel." She purred, separating herself from her golden sister and standing up, shaking off her pelt. At the words the apprentice spoke, however, Dreamheart paused. "You want to go hunting?" The blue she-cat asked, twitching her ears in surprise. "Well alright then. Want to lead the way?"

Squirrelpaw nodded. She had recently memorized the territory, practiced running with Rookpaw, and gone hunting with another warrior. She was definitely ready to lead the way! She set off at a fast moving pace, making her way to Sunset Grove. Keep up, Dreamy! She teased, even though she knew her mentor was right on her tail. She slowed to a stop, gazing across Sunset Grove.

Dream chuckled at Squirrelpaw's antics, and trotted briskly after the apprentice, cheerfully calling back, "You know I will! Let's see if you can!" Then she broke into a sprint, leaping past the brown she-cat and chasing after the first rabbit she saw once they reached open territory. Oh, the thrill of the run! Fantastic.

Squirrelpaw grinned, bounding after her mentor. When she saw the rabbit, she stuck behind, letting her mentor work some magic. She didn't want to scare the prey away, and she wanted to make Dreamheart proud.

Dreamheart brought down the rabbit with ease, claws catching it's throat and tearing. Within moments, it was dead in her jaws, and the pale warrior trotted over to her apprentice. Dropping it at Squirrel's paws, she said, "Now show me what you got." With that, Dream flicked her fluffy tail and sat down, tilting her head expectantly.

Squirrelpaw nodded, her eyes narrowing in determination. She raised her nose into the air, but found no new scents. Only of the rabbit that Dreamheart had just caught. She shook out her pelt, slowly moving forward to see if she could find something else where. She tasted the air, her blue-green hues lighting up. Blackbird! Score! Crouching down, she did her best to blend in with the tall grass that surrounded her. Blackbird... It was a type of bird, obviously, and it could fly.

The small she-cat took a deep breath, the quietest of huffs coming from her maw. She saw her target, the blackbird, and she lunged forward, using all the power in her hind legs as possible. Her jump got her close to the bird, and as it flew barely a couple of inches into the air, she managed to get a paw on it and slam it down.

Dreamheart tacked her apprentice carefully, dark blue eyes catching every move. She was doing good so far... A far cry from when Dream last saw her hunting. That had been rather painful to watch, if she was honest. When the brown she-cat caught it, the pale warrior clapped her paws together, just once. "Great catch Squirrel!" She called, pride in her voice. She flicked her fluffy tail, grinning as she came over. "Do you want to hunt a rabbit together? We can drive it towards each other so we guarantee a catch." If that made sense to her apprentice. Dreamheart would explain again if Squirrelpaw didn't get it though, no worries.
