Weaselskip stretched her back, the grey warrior squaring up her shoulders evenly. This was exciting. Another outing with her little Hailbird, little sweet thing and she was ready for that for sure. Letting out a rumble she moved over towards the apprentice den and called in, "Hail sweet thing, we're going off to hunt today. And we shall not make a failure of this otherwise amazing day you hear me? We're chasing rabbits together so hopefully should be able to have some fun out of it." This was the first session ever since she'd returned, it had taken a bit of a while but hey, they were here now and progress was being made. That was the main thing Weaselskip could think about and waiting for Hailpaw the grey feline contemplated how she would teach the chasing rabbits to her apprentice. The apprentice was strong, having grown over the long period she'd been her apprentice and finally settling on a idea she called once again, "Sweet sweet Hail, you coming along?"
Hailpaw lay calmly within her nest, she had been thinking a lot lately about trying to spend more time with her siblings when suddenly a familiar call reached her ears. Naturally she knew right away who it was: Weaselskip. The molly who for once had groomed her fur much before, didn't respond right away though. She waited a moment as in thought about the older one. Yet as the second call came, she didn't hesitate to emerge from the den and join her former mentor who was now also her new mentor. "I'm here" she meowed as she arrived. It was about time she picked up proper training again, It had been a while even though she had initially gotten a different mentor in the mean time. Snailswirl couldn't really be blamed for it though, he was made medicine cat apprentice literally the meeting right after she got assigned as their apprentice-- but oh well.
Hailpaw turned and with small sway of her tail made her way to the territory. She stepped back a bit, as to let Weaselskip lead and not the other way around, and so waited for any instructions. Though as they were making their way, she did slip in a small question "So, how have you been?"
How had she been? That wasn't the first question Weaselskip had been expecting out of Hailpaw's mouth but nevertheless it was what she had to answer. Shaking out her fur and leading the way, tail curling around Hailpaw's shoulder, the grey molly let out a breath. A deep exhausted breath. "Tiring, I shall not lie little Hail. My sweet little Hail," Weaselskip couldn't help but voice. She adored her apprentice. "But isn't all parts of life tiring in some ways?" the usual eccentric warrior couldn't help her more... solemn mood. It seemed things were going slower every single day and it wasn't like she could do anything against that but move forward. Shaking out her fur again, letting the grey fur ripple down in its waves she squared up once they were out on the moors. A proper time now, a time where she shouldn't focus on... exhaustion. And the wind was already refreshing the usually hot and cheery warrior and gaining her mischevious glint back in her eyes she looked down at Hailpaw. "You ready to beat up some rabbits?" Oh Weaselskip was and with that she flicked her tail down towards the slope and then ran down there herself, slowly extending her stride, until a rabbit appeared directly in front of her. The scent of rabbit had been clear from the small hill. "Catch it," she yelled up at Hailpaw sitting back and letting the apprentice finish the hunt.

Hailpaw felt a tinge of worry at the warrior's less... Happy mood-- yet she couldn't quite pin point what for mood it exactly was. She was.. Not happy, something Hailpaw had gotten used to from her mother, but not annoyed? She shook it off as a down day, despite her unfamiliarity with the exact term.
The molly followed silently from there on, taking a breath as the moors spread in front of them. A small smile cracked at the following question, nodding, yet Weaselskip was already off before she could give a more vocal answer. But oh well. Hailpaw followed, lingering a bit behind until a call came to her ears: "catch it". And catch it she would.
At those words, Hailpaw fixed her light blue eyes on the rabbit and sped up her pace more and more until reaching a steady run. Between the mentor switches and lack of training, Hailpaw had been practicing her running. So once she got a clearer sight on the fleeing rabbit, Hailpaw quickened her run more, keeping her tail levelled and her steps light on the ground. The apprentice quite enjoyed such speeding, but distraction wasn't an option. Eventually, She managed to mostly catch up with the rabbit. While unsure of what had to exactly be done, without thinking she jumped on top of it, keeping it on the ground with her paws and killing it with a quick bite. She had almost stumbled over it as she landed, but that for once didn't matter to her in the given moment.
As the rabbit's body grew limp below her paws, Hailpaw for the first time since she was a kit, felt a rush of pride go threw her. She had actually and truly caught a rabbit--!
Smiling brightly, She picked it up and trotted over to Weaselskip, eyes gleaming with the sudden pride and happiness. "Look!" Hailpaw meowed in a muffled voice as she approached "I caught it!"

Weaselskip was insanely proud of the apprentice and the warrior sat down on her haunches and then moved over, a small smile on her face. "Good job sweet Hail! That was a great catch." Weaselskip could sit and pick out the mistakes in the hunt, could be nitpicky and ruin Hailpaw's mood or praise as she was doing right now. Making her way over she nuzzled Hailpaw gently before looking at the catch and nodded in appreciation and pride. "That was done correctly, and I know there was some flaws in your technique but hey, let's celebrate the good alright?" At least that was what Weaselskip wanted to and she smiled once again, tail reaching over to flick over Hailpaw's ears affectionately. But despite the successful catch, it didn't mean they could nor should linger and she looked from the catch to Hailpaw for a brief moment. "You want to carry it as we go down towards the border or hide it and then come back for it?" She wanted to take Hailpaw down to a nearby stream, now intent on teaching her own older apprentice to swim.
Hailpaw was a bit flustered by her own excitement. She had been happy about something before, but rarely ever broke her calmer composure. Unconsciously, the molly's ears flickered as an indication of that, though her attention was soon caught by Weaselskip speaking. "I'll train to do better next time!" she smiled and nodded. Celebrate... Sounded good. And new. The apprentices light gaze followed the warrior curiously "I'll hide it" she answered a bit muffled, then trotted a few paces away to properly hide the prey out of sight.
Once returned by her mentor's side, Hailpaw glanced at her "what are we going to do by the border?" she questioned, secretly eager to know, as she followed the older molly down. Were they going to mark the borders? That seemed a bit unusual considering they weren't on patrol. And she had seen the borders before, of course, so couldn't quite pin point what they'd be doing there of all places.

It was quite early, Hailpaw would admit, but she had been making these early morning awakenings for a while now-- well, ever since she became an apprentice, actually, much to her dismay. If only that one apprentice hadn't woken her up each morning with their snoring.. But oh well, she'd gotten used to it now. Usually Hailpaw would use this time to explore the territory, or give herself a good grooming just as her long fur required. But not today. The later had already been done, for the earlier it was a little to dark, and the young molly had the idea of trying a little something anyway. She hadn't done anything of the liking in many moons but.. Perhaps she just sort of felt like it.
It was barely sunrise, and so Hailpaw figured the warriors either still sleeping or just waking up. Sneaking out of the apprentice den, over to the den of warriors-- one she hoped to join soon-- the silver molly peeked inside threw a small crack, then swiftly going around the corner and inside, hiding behind the bodies of ones that were still asleep. Her tail swayed lightly as she fixed her eyes on the target nest: the one where she presumed, and hoped, her mentor was resting. At this point she was having serious second thoughts though, but there was no turning back now, was there? Being careful to try to not disturb anyone, Hailpaw snuck her way in and-- jumped, straight for the hopefully not empty nest that hopefully held a Weaselskip, calling a soft "Boo!"
She'd been sleeping soundly, belly up in the air and paws resting, pulled close to her chest. Yet Weaselskip's peaceful sleep it seemed was soon disturbed by something extremely heavy and fluffy, and the molly woke up to a bout of coughing and shock and struggling to breathe as the big creature just... laid flat on her stomach too. Green eyes blinking she met Hailpaw's steel blue ones and as the coughing slowly receeded she let out a laugh and huff of amusement and lifted a paw, rubbing the apprentice's grey fur between her ears with a caring grin on her face.
"Did you really have to wake me up like that? I don't find it necessary exactly, Little Hail." Her Little Hail it seemed, was not exactly 'little' anymore but it made the warrior happy to see her apprentice finally settling within herself and feeling confident and... well ready and prepared. It was a true joy to see and pushing the heavy furball off of her, Weaselskip let out a grunt as she sat up, rubbing her eyes trying her best to actually fully wake up for once.
"Do you have anything you want to do now Hail, since you decided to ruin my pretty awesome beauty sleep," the last part was said with her face drifting into a frown but it couldn't be held for long as a smile soon burst forth again.
Both pleased that her plan was a success and amused, Hailpaw couldn't help but break out giggling softly as she lay flat on Weaselskip's belly, pulling a wide grin as she met her eyes. (A little surprised as well by the sudden rubbing between her ears- something that hadn't been done before- but was surprisingly enjoyable); "oh but it was" Hailpaw replied in a courteous manner, sitting up as she let herself get pushed off "you see, I've been waking quite early these past few moons because of a.. Snoring situation in the apprentice den- it seemed that Hailpaw turned out to be a rather light sleeper, unlike some "-So I thought why not try to surprise you" it didn't quite justify the sudden wake up, did it? Usually she'd try to find a more valid reason for such action but.. Hailpaw was in a good mood, and deemed it do be enough of a reason for once.
Although that last question.. Hailpaw hadn't exactly thought about that yet, as was shown by the face she pulled. The apprentice had to think for a few moments before answering a bit loosely "I'm.. Not sure. Perhaps we could take a walk around the territory until the sun is fully risen? And.. Maybe you could show me your swimming if the water is not cold? If not then we could do whatever you'd like, I don't really mind" a bit of out of character rambling as she went over some faint ideas, then turned back to look at her mentor - one she might not see as often anymore soon once her training were to be fully done. Which was.. A strange thought, both appealing on the warrior end, but quite the opposite on the seeing-her-mentor-less end. But, she shouldn't think about that right now, today would be a good day! Well- hopefully.
Letting out a sigh, Weaselskip just proceeded to shake her head with light amusement at Hailpaw's answer. There was no winning anymore was there? She'd instead of bringing up a perfectly normal cat, brought up a monster... but like, who was to say that wasn't a good thing... outside of getting woken up at stars who knew what time. Nevertheless she just shook her head at Hailpaw again and continued to rub between her ears speedily, now more a punishment rub than anything.
Letting out a snort of amusement as she finally sat up, Weaselskip quickly washed her head before answering, "So you simply woke me up so I get to experience what you experience yes Hail... thank you." The last two words were filled with dripping sarcasm but the purrs out of the molly's chest were unmistakable. "You wont find much peace here in compared to the apprentice den, but you just learn to sleep with it. And it was a nice surprise to wake up to you landing on my chest, yes little Hail."
And then... the idea... or suggestion of some sort. Not that Weaselskip herself had any ideas... although, yes she did have one that could end up horribly wrong. OH! Hailbean did end up suggesting her own idea and suddenly the warrior was on her paws and almost heading out. "Come on then Hail! If we're warm enough, we won't freeze in the water... I hope. And the best way to learn is in cold water because then warm water will be an ease when get there this new greenleaf."
