You know you're being judged for all your worth, but you're determined to make your case. It's not every day cats try to reincarnate, and you're tired of being trapped here. Perhaps your first life didn't go as planned.. but the next one is going to be better.

All you have to do is answer them.

Blackspeck narrowed his eyes. Come on! You know I don't deserve to be hear! I hadn't done anything terribly wrong. Blackspeck gazed at then with eyes so innocent, he believed that they would see him for the cat he was so good at pretending to be. I just want another chance! The Dark Forest is such a hard place, and besides, I never had much family in my first life. I want another chance. I want a life that's not so... so... lonely! To be honest, the mere thought of being this kind of sentimental, soft-hearted kit-like creature, sickened him. But how else would he get back. Crowtooth didn't deserve to be deputy! WindClan needed better leadership! But of course, Blackspeck didn't let these cats know that! Sure, he'd killed a few rouges and loners, and a few other cats in battle, but did that make him a criminal? He was so good at masking his true self, that know one really knew the horrible cat that was inside. So, with that in his mind, he gave his most innocent and hopefully look the the cats, and waited.

Why are these pleading kits in the Dark Forest trying to get themselves back in the living world now? This is already..what? The second time the warden has seen such things? At least the last time tried to be convincing. This one just sounds outright stupid. "For what? Why should we? What worth would someone like you bring to your next life?" the she-cat didn't exactly hold back; cause why should they waste time on cats that didn't even bother give them actual reasons to bring them back to life? "You're lonely and family-less, but do you think that makes you special? How many cats do you think lived and died lonely?" Dustpoppy was considering not arriving to this one, but her she was. If having been lonely was the cat's only reason to come back, then you don't even jugdement, just boot them back to where they came from. But she’ll let him go on

Blackspeck controlled himself long enough not to growl with anger. Instead, he continued with his goody-goody act. I didn't say that anything made me special. Not yet. Not in that life. He mewed. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't get the chance to do something special. I'm not even going for being special. I just want to serve my clan to the best of my abilities. Blackspeck took a breath, and continued his passionate and loyal, but oh-so-polite speech. If I may ask you a question, how do you suppose I could do really much of anything for my clan, when I died from greencough at 14 moons? He gazed at the cat with eyes that seemed so genuine, so honest. You asked what worth I would bring in my next life. He continued. I say, why don't you give me a chance to live, and serve my clan? Why don't you give me a chance to make the clan better? To gain knowledge, and share my wisdom with other cats to improve their skills? To make sure that nothing ever happens to my beloved clan? That, even though it may not seem like much, is all I ask.

The dark forest feline was planning on making her fashionably late arrival, where in the midst of her squabbling colleagues and the dead wishing to live, she would step in and have all eyes- if only for a moment, as she delivered her first thoughts on whatever feline has made their way to the council. Her feathery tail swooshed gracefully behind her as she stepped from mist hiding her form. Too long as she waited for another warden, and she wasn't trying to be late.

"Sorry for my lateness." Snowleopard greeted, her eyes moving from Dustpoppy to Blackspeck. Her eyes narrowed, as she took a step towards the tom pleading the same whines and cries she's heard a million times. "I'm very sorry, you sound positively miserable- but surely, you must understand, that this little council isn't just for show? If we brought back every cat- why what would death matter and why should we listen to the stars-" Well not much listening has been happening in the clans regardless, waning belief and communication collapse.

"You could be happy here," Snowleopard gave a gentle smile, "You can find family and solace within the stars that bound your soul now. Find cats lonely like you." Though his crying about death to illness at 14 moons was very tone deaf, even by most cats standards, "I would say that, in this world, 14 moons is more than most. The number of kits and apprentices we see day after day is uncountable." Oh, now she was starting to sound like Dewkit.

“How touching.” Lichenflood's voice dripped with venomous sarcasm as he emerged from the shadows, shimmering with a hazy glow. "If you are miserable here, it is because you deserve to be. You lived as nothing and you died as nothing. I may be more inclined to be sympathetic to the cause if not for your whining and your simpering." Honestly! It was quite grating on the ears. He wasn't sure how the others were stomaching it.

Lichenflood curled his lip as the tom prattled on. "Everyone wants a family," he spat with a flash of his claws. "Far fewer are willing to put in the effort to maintain one and I imagine you are among that group. You have done nothing of consequence. You are nothing special. You would find yourself hard-pressed to do the work required to keep a family, never mind start one."

Usually, Lichenflood might decide on the spot. Something compelled him to keep listening this time, even if his mind was already half-way made up. “Explain to me what it is you are looking for, and why, and what you are willing to do to keep it alive. As it stands now, you are doing a horrific job of convincing me you are deserving of any sort of life - the one you have already lived was worthless and yet you have somehow found a way to make yourself worth less in your time here.”

Blackspeck growled, frustrated that he could not just simple go back and do what he actually wanted to do. He couldn't just tell them that he wanted to kill and be deputy! Ok, he would admit, the family thing was a little over the top. Probably not the best thing to say. He glared at the first cat who spoke. The one who had been "late" How dare you suggest that I can just find a family here! He spat. You think that can just take all my bad memories away? The fact that I can make the best of the situation that I'm in now? I don't get a chance to have parents who actually loved me, instead of pushing me around and neglecting me? The fact that my brother is still alive, and has to deal with losing his brother? And how about the cats that hated me? I just have to live with that? Or rather, just accept the fact that there's nothing I can do to have a better life?
He then turned to the other cat. I didn't say I was miserable here. He hissed. And I don't desire your sympathy! I don't care about your sympathy! Just like you don't care about me! But, then again, why should you? "I'm just a lonely, miserable cat who wants a family, but won't put in the work to keep one" Blackspeck quoted the other cats words with a sneer. He took a deep breath, and thought for a moment. He supposed that losing his temper might have actually been a good idea. He then took a deep breath. I guess I would apologize for that little outburst, but I'm sure you're not looking for an apology. He mewed. What am I looking for you ask? I'm not quite sure to be honest. I just want to actually help my clan. Oh yes! He thought. What better way to help it, than to become deputy? TO be honest, I'm tired of being the cat that I was. I was selfish, and unconcerned about others. I was focusing on how I was hurt, and how I shouldn't be the one that everyone hates. So I distanced myself. And in turn, I ended up being more of a nuisance to my clan. I just want to make that right. I want to make up for the laziness. I wan't to pass on knowledge instead of just wallowing around in my misery. He nodded at the cat. You say that my life before was worthless. That's exactly my point. I had so many opportunities to help others, and instead, I chose not too.

Throwing a fit are we now? Pity. If only Dustpoppy actually did care more. This tantrum feels more childish than anything; her ears hurt hearing it. She couldn't help but look at him with narrowed eyes, as if her distaste wasn't obvious before. How was it supposed to help him again? Was the innocence earlier just a mere act? At least try to be more consistent. At least try to keep your emotions in check when you're trying to make a case for yourself. She knew some cats would be more willing to keep their temper to themselves. This one, didn't seem like one of them. "Are you the only dead cat with bad memories? And your brother? How would your reincarnation help him with his lost when you're gonna come back as a completely different cat anyway?" why bother even bringing it up. Besides, he was the one putting up the innocent kit act to begin with. He might've not directly said he was miserable here, but the topic in question is all that he talks about. "And frankly, if you have cats that hate you, most do learn to live with it"

Even now, admitting you're wrong had no meaning if it's all you're gonna do "There's countless of ways you can find worth and put your paws where your mouth is in death" doesn't matter where one rests in the afterlife, you don't just stop being capable of doing anything when you die, or perhaps he was just more talk than action "until then, my answer is a N-yes" it happened to her again, her words struck down by an unpredictable force before they could even unleash from her jaws; that didn't stop her from scowling on her way out, though.

Blackspeck grinned. Ah! A yes! Finally! He thought. Now, just one more! He continued his gaze around the other cats. He hoped that he had said everything right. Because if he had, they would take pity on him. He looked around, hope flickering in his blue and green eyes.

Snowleopard watched with a barely shifting expression as the feline in question more or less threw a kitten fit- well at least they know he would play the part of a reincarnated kit well, hardly would make a difference. Though at the same time, she had expected her acquaintances to see this case as she did- after all, they had pointed out the many holes that she had seen in that little parade. Wait- the graceful feline shot a careful side eye at Dustpoppy as the warden gave her yes to this sad sad creature. No matter.

"Perhaps I would've believed you. Your want to be different, a less selfish person, but given that fit in response to me and my," The she cat started with a sway of her tail towards Dustpoppy and Lichenflood, "friends, doing our job. The way you throw our kindness back into our faces. The way you turn the blame, that you pretend it is our fault that your past leads to your lackluster present.. well, we know a lost cause. When you have seen the many cats that we have, it's easy to tell a lost cause when there is one, and-" Snowleopard purred, her eyes narrowing with an icy look poorly masked with faux kindness, "Yet we still stopped and listened. But you refuse to return the favor."

Snowleopard stood up after taking a long moment to theatrically clean the fur along her chest, stretched, "Practice your pretending a little more and maybe I'll believe the lies you spew. For now, my answer is no."

There was the tantrum. Lichenflood snorted and took a moment to examine his claws. Dustpoppy's forced yes was annoying, but thankfully Snowleopard had the sense to combat it. He slammed his claws back down with a thud.

"You insult us all by spitting such venom," he snapped. "Yes, you will live with it. You will live with all of it until you can speak to myself and my compatriots without insult. Stay lazy, miserable, and worthless. My answer is no."
