Deadkit's hole(Private)

This is a hole in the camp wall, where Deadkit will be spending the rest of her kithood, having resolved not to be with "judging cats", or eat their prey. As you can imagine, the prey thing will not work out very well for her.

Deadkit was sad. Ok, sad was an understatement. She was severely depressed, with matted fur, suicidal urges, and hadn't eaten in 3 days. MUCH more accurate. As she lay, her fur full of gunk and her belly growling, she began to regret her stupid decision. How was she supposed to get her own food anyway? She couldn't leave camp, and she could barely run with her leg anyway! As a bug skittered by, she swung a paw, hoping to kill it, but it was mashed to a pulp. Licking the ground to get any food she could, she began to hack as dirt entered her lungs. At least she wasn't thirsty. The dew of the past night had quenched her thirst, at least temporarily.

It would be a different story by late afternoon, with the sun high in the sky, baking the moor. Her tongue out, she lay in the largest patch of shade she could find, which only covered her head. Laying there, she debated just leaving then, to die. Maybe that would be better, for all involved. Maybe.....but a small part of her refused to want to die. It wanted to LIVE! So she kept suffering through the heat, and the hunger, and the even more devastating thirst, and waited, for what she didn't know, but she waited.

As the sun went down, Deadkit was ready to admit defeat. She had horrible heaves from something, probably the bugs, but there was nothing to throw up. She had already heaved up the meager contents of her stomach, a few bugs and a bit of water, and now felt weaker than ever. Then she had an inspiration. What if instead of eating their prey, she STOLE their prey, and THEN ate it? THAT might work. Trying to stand on shaky legs, she headed into the clearing to put her plan into action.

As she staggered across the seemingly enormous clearing towards the fresh-kill pile, she noticed it looked unusually small. In fact, all she could see in the dark was a small, bony bird. Still, it was better than nothing. Grasping it within her teeth, she set out to drag it back to her hiding place, unaware of anything around her. @BestDragonslayer

Nightkit was lying down and licking himself, until he heard something. "Who's there?" He mewed, trying not to sound scared "Deadkit?" He suddenly remembered her scent. "What are you doing?"

She was dead. Officially and completely dead. Forever. Um, just getting some freshkill. she mewed shakily, struggling to stay standing. The bird was SO heavy, and she was quite weak, not having eaten for several days. She HAD to get away. Please, just go to bed. I'll go to sleep soon too. she mewed, trying to disguise the desperation in her voice. @BestDragonslayer

"I haven't seen you in days, and I like to be out at night." Nightkit mewed. "Why is your fluff so awful? I can smell it from over here!" Nightkit suddenly realized how dreadful she looked, and he could have sworn he smelled sickness on her.

(lol he still uses the word fluff instead of fur. He will never, and I mean never, grow out of it)

Oh, that's nice. Deadkit mewed, before taking another step towards her hiding place. I just, um, tripped in a puddle. Really, I'm fine. she mewed quickly. Anything to get away and back to eat! She was starting to drool, from the scent of the bird, even though it was scrawny and stale. @BestDragonslayer

Nightkit hopped up and padded over "You're lying. I tripped in a puddle once and I didn't get nearly as messed up as you." He started licking her vigorously "And you taste disgusting!" He remarked

Um, I'm fine, really. Deadkit stuttered, trying to back away. Not fast enough. Nightkit had already begun licking her vigorously, and in her weakened state, she couldn't take it. She collapsed, the bird and probably Nightkit landing on top of her. Ugh, so embarrassing. But why did it matter? Soon she would be dead, and everyone would be happy.
