Deerspark was confused. And not in the way he usually was.
But he wasn't about to focus on that (he was), he was too busy counting the molecules of sand on his pelt. Which was pretty hard since he was, y'know, sand colored. Distracting his concerning thoughts with task like ones usually worked.. After he got to the hundreds, he kinda gave up after a hundred and sixty, since he wasn't sure what came after that. Cats didn't really live that long, so why would numbers go so high? Which ment they probably didn't. Case and point (he slowly began to think about trees within this context...).
With the new cold weather came a shivering sea breeze, one that Deerspark assumed would be refreshing, but he was quite literally (or at least attempting to) clench his jaw in pain. If he jaw wasn't nearly unhinged from his face. Yeah. Fun.
Anyways, the cold air made his maw ache like hell itself (...what is "hell?"), and Deerspark made a mental reminder to go down to the medicine cats den to scarf down some poppy seeds, then pass out completely. That would be fine. But seriously, this crap really hurt. He still couldn't wrap his head around the fact that Bumblestar squared up on him out of all cats. Yes, he came out with his life, but Bumblestar took a few notable chunks of him with her, like the side of his neck, and his tail, which was already pretty short already.
Well, at least he wasn't dead.
...
Deerspark had mainly come out here to not only wallow in self pity and avoid sleep paralysis by avoiding sleep altogether, but he also came out for a swim.
He had begun to see how silly that incitive was. Because well. It was freaking freezing. And while Deerspark wasn't sure why, he was pretty certain that the water cooled far slower than land, which caused the odd effect of the land being hot, but the water cold. So, unless he wanted to end up as a deer-sicle, it'd be best if he stayed far, far away from the water.

Chill of Death
Rosehawk wrinkled her nose in disgust, bile rising in her throat. Quickly grabbing the stick that Cricketpaw had brought her in between her jaws, the Bengal used it to push the dead rat into the hole.
´´Scrape earth over it, and quickly,´´ She mewed, tail whisking. ´´I don´t want it luring any predators and / or threats onto RiverClan Territory. After you do so, we´re gonna go back to camp and report straight to Stormstar.´´
No other words could describe the smell when she moved the body and half its guts fell out. Pushing it rapidly into the hastily dug hole, she flung dirt over it.

Screw the camp, and screw the cats inside it. Redmire hated being there to the point that more often than not she found herself wandering the territory instead of lingering inside. But for as much as she relished the alone time, it had definitely gotten weighty, and so Seabreeze's offer felt like a blessing from the stars, mostly because he felt like one of the only ones she could talk to without being berated for one reason or another.
"It's not a problem." She stuck close to his side as they stepped onto the beach, casting a glance from side to side. "I can't stand being in camp nowadays, anyway. It feels like there's always eyes on me lately."

"I get that.. for different reasons." He feels judged, and he deserves to be, to be judged. He wasn't a very good warrior, he never should've been a lionheart and there was no reason why he should've been for so long, and he's happy that he isn't anymore because he doesn't feel like he's suffocating so much... but at the same time, people saw him differently. Man, maybe he's taking Aspenpaw's snark to heart, which would be kind of sad because that apprentice was just fiery, nothing.. well maybe a bit personal with what he says to Seabreeze. The warrior though, instead, decides to move on, "What do you think about the new territory so far? I think the huntings been fine... Though it's hard to tell with the changing seasons, with how prey will be harder to find anyways..." It was a bit awkward, but he wasn't sure what else he could say. He looked back and forth up the beach for anything... mostly gulls.

Today was easily the LAST day Badgerclaw would want to visit the Lionsbeach.
..Or, any beach, really. This cold breeze was not within the cat's favor, and for your normal reasons. The air had an advantage over the land that lacked any shelter from the chill, and not to mention - sand was single highhandedly the worst thing on this planet. The only thing VAGUELY redeeming about it was its warmth, but even today, it didn't have that. There was literally nothing left in its favor.
So why is Badgerclaw here? She grimaces to herself as her paws are placed upon the beach's floor, contemplating her life decisions that have led up to this point.
Warriors of any clan don't have all that much free time. But Badgerclaw finds that, when he DOES have it, he's always lost as to what to even do. She already spends literally every night grooming her own fur- so that left little entertainment remaining. Plus, EVERY cat was so BORING. Not a single one DESERVED to be around Badgerclaw.. not unless she's intrigued by someone, anyway.
Speaking of which.. When there's dread in the air, Badgerclaw can smell it from miles away. Or something. His attention is placed upon a distant feline - one who he has seen plenty of times, but has spoken to at the sheer minimum.
"..."
Before anyone knew it, Badgerclaw was sitting tall just a few feet away from behind Deerspark, tail curling around his body as he smiles.
"Deerspark...! You look awful; what happened?"
He tilts his head, curious. She admittedly wasn't familiar with Deerspark's little incident between him and Bumblestar, so as far as she knows, he just looks really garbage right now. "Also, you're covered in sand. I think. It's hard to tell."
This conversation may or may not be a drag, knowing Badgerclaw and his ego.

Deerspark had slowly begun to drown in his own thoughts, eyes drifting elsewhere, though still aware of the dull throb in his jaw that came with every bitting breeze. He watched the waves without knowing he was. As stated before, he was completely out of it, or he was for now. As expected, the call of his name from directly behind him made him jolt up, his stubby tail shooting upwards like a deer, claws unsheathed as he prepared himself to RUN FOR HIS LI---
Oh.
It was just Bagerclaw.
His tense body and knotted position unwinded, and the look of pure shock on his face melted away. He'd seen this cat before, and it seemed they had seem as well. Which was... Unexpected. Nocat really knew him, and that was okay (it wasn't. Deerspark had a constant fear that he was doomed to be a useless background character all his life), but he knew nearly everycat, and Bagerclaw was no exception.
The tom managed a smile at her, allowing himself to settle into a sit. His question still hummed in Deerspark's large and tattered ears. Oh. Well, he probably did look horrible. He stood up and gave his fur a shake before responding, completely unaware of the buckets of sand that got flung from his fur. Okay... Okay! Conversation! He could do this, easy (he was going to die)!
For a question that seemed to be coming from a place of concern, she seemed to be smiling pretty wide. "I... Uh. Hm. Sand. Then uh... I didn't. Groom this. Morning." He then raised a paw to his face, assuming that's why he asked the question in the first place. "Bumblestar. During the uh.... The. Three v. One..." He then tilted his head at her, trying to figure out why somecat (including him) was stupid enough to go out to the beach with this kind of weather looming over them. "...You?"

A reeeaalllly good question. Again; Starclan forbid that the beach will ever be a decently tolerable place.
"Noooo kidding," she quickly responds to Deerspark's first answer, tilting her head in what felt oddly condescending. "You kind of resemble the monster-kill we sometimes find by the two-legged nests right now; or the living embodiment of every cat's matted fur in history."
Okay. Rude. Badgerclaw stands up, casually stretching his legs with an exaggerated yawn before continuing. "I figured I'd treat myself to a stroll, considering all my hard and generous work for this clan. We don't have all that much free time- unless you're a sad pile of dirt with the heart of a mouse, the social skills of a pigeon and the will of an opossum."
It was being made clear that Badgerclaw was jabbing at Deerspark again, and again, and again. So much for having a conversation with someone - you're finally noticed, and it's by one of the worst cats in Riverclan. Ladies and gentlemen, can we get some justice for Deerspark????
"But hey! Since you asked," no he didn't bro "I'm willing to give you advice! Groom your fur every morning, or you'll be a bad example to the kits." Badgerclaw leans closer, scrutinizing every little thing about Deerspark's appearance and demeanor. "Also, you should try looking more confident. I know that's probably hard, considering the natural look your face has, but it can go a long way. Trust me."
Now it's hard to tell if Badgerclaw's words are coming from a good place, or not. Was he the worst giver of advice in existence, or just deliberately trying to be mean? Either way - her ego is noticeably around the heights of the stars in the sky. If you've ever seen him arguing with other warriors in the background; you probably know why, now.

Softpaw blinked. Looking over to Daisyfur. "Ok..." the white she-cat murmured. Softpaw had just lost her mother, though the clan didn't know yet as Stormstar hadn't announced her death. Softpaw was also always a timid and action rather than talk type of cat. Softpaw looked at Pebblesplash. Nodding gently and waiting. Though she scooted a bit away from the warrior so they weren't so close. What did she want? If the questions were personal. Softpaw would be hesitant to answer, but of course the warrior wouldn't know that.

Deerspark wasn't sure what he was expecting, but it certainly wasn't insults. The tom winced, shrinking back from the cat who was suddenly way too close to him. Deerspark could only imagine what road-kill looked like, but he'd heard some pretty vivid descriptions. Bulging eyes, so much that they could fall out, tangled fur, rough with dry blood, poured out insides. The warrior shuddered, and he wasn't sure if it was the weather or the fact that he'd grossed himself out beyond human comprehension.
His ears pinned back as he went on and on, possibly roasting him out of existence, and Deerspark felt his cheeks heat despite the deep chill within his bones. He reworked his jaw, as though he was trying to set it straight, but it was painful and crooked. His tongue lay uselessly outside of his maw, his eyebrows furrowing in bewilderment. She practically read him like a book, a really long and self deprecating book.
Deerspark began to weigh his chances with his sleep paralysis demon, see if they were feeling a bit more kinder today and actually let him sleep. He began to think about what problems they may have. Did they have something that haunted them too? And to stop the hurt, that had to continue the cycle? So, they preyed on him? Deerspark wondered if he could do the same, turn around and haunt somecat else for a change, but he wouldn't wish the unmovable fear on anycat, not even this absolute saint, Bagerclaw.
"Bad example for the kits..."
A nerve had been hit.
The scarred warrior tensed, his muzzle wrinkling. He'd had a son... Once. Tadpolesprint couldn't have kits, she'd been so worked up about it. So, they adopted. Went into the nursery to see what they could do. They found one, quiet with big eyes and a brown pelt. They talked very little and they observed the world through a large looking glass. Deerspark was just as excited as he was scared, and at the time, he figured he'd have countless opportunities to straighten himself up, be a good father. He never got the chance. The kit was gone, so was his wife, and they haunted every waking moment of his life.... Was he a bad example? No. his mind answered for him, but even he couldn't believe himself.
He raised himself to his paws, and scowled. "Yeah... Great. Thanks for... alllllll your uh... wisdom. I really... Really. Appreciate it. But I uh... Have. Some advice. Too. If you don't... Mind?" Whatever the answer was, Deerspark was going to talk anyways. This piece of scum didn't show him a lick of respect. And while Deerspark wasn't about to stoop to his level, he wasn't about to just lay down and take it. "What... Have. You uh. Hm, done. That has... Made you, so worthy.... Of spitting... On the uh... Weak? Go... Take your uh. Walk. But... Leave. Me. Alone."

He looked back and forth up the beach for anything... mostly gulls.
"It's... fine, I guess." Redmire didn't know quite what else to say. "I like the new camp. I just wish we hadn't had to move a thousand times in order to find it."
Nothing really to be found on her side of the beach, either. Odd that it seemed to be so empty. She pushed her tongue against the seam of her teeth for a moment before asking, "You know, I wish you were still one of the Lionhearts. You actually have sense and decorum. You don't make me feel like I have to suffocate."
