Peachspring
20 Moons || RiverClan Warrior || She/her
. . .
RiverClan’s Southern Sweetheart
. . .

Peachspring kept a watchful eye on the two as they each went their separate ways. Those two seemed to each have a good head on their shoulders. They seemed responsible and respectful, the complete opposite of how wild and rambunctious she was at their age. But then again, she'd been a little kitten on a farm with no rules or boundaries besides Ma's loose authority. After she made sure they were both gonna be okay, she turned off and headed off in her own direction.

She treaded along the soft ground with quick and careful pawsteps, like she was on some mission of some sort. Just as she was about to come to a stop to taste the air, Peachspring caught sight a trail of tiny paw prints in the dirt. Bingo! Easy peasy. Her eyes gleamed in delight as she bent down to check the freshness of the scent, and possibly figure out what kind of prey it was. Hopefully not something boring as a mouse or a water vole. She always hated having to eat the same mice everyday back on the farm. They were so tiny and unfilling, but better than a frog, she guessed. Those actually were disgusting.

[d10 : rolled a 10 - success!]
The tracks ended up being a big fat boring mouse. How disappointing. But by the scent, she could tell that the mouse wasn't too far away. Peachspring dropped into a crawl and crept along the paw prints, leaving a trail of her own in the sand alongside the dirt. She crept closer as the little creature came into sight. Finally, with a swift pounce and bite to the neck, she was able to easily kill the creature. She gently grabbed it's neck with her teeth and buried it in a small hole.

She lifted her head once more to find the scent of a rabbit and a thrush closest. Strange that a lil' bunny would be out in the RiverClan territory, but not super rare. Both would be pesky pieces of prey. Birds n' bunnies were so skittish. One wrong crunch of an autumn leaf and suddenly they were flappin' or runnin' away before you could even blink. But Peachspring liked a little challenge every now and then. It made simple patrols exciting. She'd go for the thrush first. It seemed closer. Peachspring turned to the left and cautiously began following the scent. She slunk through the tall grass as the bird fitted around, pecking at the ground. Maybe the thrush was hunting too? What did birds even eat? Probably insects or something. She almost felt bad as she lowered herself into a hunting crouch and stalked nearer. She wiggles her butt and launched herself into the bird. It was a flurry of feathers from there, certainly not her best work. She clumsily sank her claws into it as it sqawked and flapped around as she struggled to finally pin it to the ground. She grunted as the bird screeched in her face, but none the less she managed to subdue it with a hard bite. When the creature finally limp in her jaw she dropped it to the floor, drowning at the mess of feathers it'd made. She once more buried it in the ground as she'd done before. Then she gave her pelt a few licks to try to clean it, before continuing on.

A new friend already? This patrol had already started out great. "It's nice to meet you too!" He chirped, as he noticed a warrior approaching them. Peachspring huh? She seemed lovely! This should be a walk in the park, as long as his hunting's okay... Anyway. They trotted on behind the two of them, heading into the territory. They'd only been out here a few times. One - Fading's border tour... Two! Searching for new-home, well, for camp. He supposed he should probably start calling it camp now. And three - Moving to new-home - uh, camp.
He'd technically been out with Oliverat, he guessed, but they'd always stuck close to the abandoned twoleg den, with the territory on lockdown. The edge of the den wasn't exactly 'out in the territory'.

Stuck in various camps all the time, he hadn't really noticed the seasons as they began to change - the leaves were? Brown? And orange, AND yellow and even red? His eyes blinked in a little confusion and a little awe. The three came to a stop in a small clearing. Okay, so it was hunting time now. "Oki doke!" they called, before springing away, not going far at all.

So now they just needed to find something. That was the super tricky bit. He flattened himself to the ground, as his eyes surveyed the area. Just ahead, they noticed a little pile of leaves and stuff - it must've all fallen from a tree. As he stared at it, a little animal made its way over, searching through the pile - Oh!! What good luck!! What was it Oliverat taught him? Smell, creep, end? Well, he didn't need to smell, the perfect opportunity had presented itself! Just to creep and end! The apprentice began to creep along the ground, trying suuuper hard not to make a sound, getting closer and closer to this animal. This creature, it was greyish brown, with a biiig fluffy tail. Was that a squirrel? They'd occasionally seen one on the fresh kill pile, but they couldn't be sure. Now they were getting close, they'd need to spring soon.
[Rolled: D10 Scored: 2] [flopped </3]
He pressed his weight onto his haunches, ready to spring, but a few pebbles beneath his paws dislodged and - oh dear! The clattering noise alerted the squirrel pretty quickly - but still, he pounced forwards! The squirrel though, was far quicker, and had soon found its way up the tree... Darn. He stumbled up to his paws and gazed up the tree. If only he could fish! Bet he'd be way better at that.

That couldn't be all, right? He stopped to sniff the air, hoping to get an essence of something. Thankfully, there was a trace of mouse! Where from though? The paw swivelled around, trying to figure out how to find it - was it wind direction?? After lots of spinning, he finally figured it out, and situated himself upwind. Then, he crept along, taking extra care this time. The mouse soon came into view. It was snuffling at something by the riverside. That gave it fewer places to run, perfect!
Sure there was a chance of Seapaw falling in but, to be honest he'd welcome it. The river didn't look too fast round here, and he reeeaaaaly wanted to go swimming. He crept along further, eyes on the prize.
[Rolled: D10 Scored: 5] [just only a win!]
Until - boom! He sprung forwards, claws in the air and - UFF! He fell right down on the mouse, claws not exactly hitting it - but! They just about managed to grab it as it attempted to scurry off - though, not without his back legs ending up entirely in the water. Still! He was happy with that! One little mouse was better than nothing! He heaved his haunches onto shore, shaking the water out - hopefully no one would ask about that.

A singular shrew was far too little for a catch, he would try atleast a few more times before heading back to the meet up place which was...... Aspenpaw raised his head and looked around trying to figure exactly which way he had come from again. It was that direction, he thinks? No it must be. He wasn't lost yet. Deciding he still had more hunt in him he took a few paws steps away from his first catch and scented the air as well as listened for any nearby noises. He immediately wrinkled his nose in distaste as the scent of bird filled his nose. Sure they weren't so bad for eating but catching them had been a whole different story for aspenpaw. Amber eyes scanned the foliage for this feathered pest. It took him a moment to spot the bird camouflaged amongst the leafs, considering its red color he'd almost missed it. The cardinal sat a bit of a distance away. Pecking at the root of a tree, for bugs he'd assume. don't needa to worry about scent he thought to himself, just sound and staying out of view. Aspenpaw lowered himself to the ground slowly and crept his way out of the bird view as he began to stalk towards it. Birds birds birds!! Why did it have to be a bird! He sucked at catching birds. Aspenpaw didn't even wait till he was a few pawsteps away and pounce the moment he was in leaping distance.

Roll: 5 {Great Success}
Aspenpaw shut his eyes preparing to feel feather hit his face or the small talons on the birds paws aiming for his eyes but was greatly shocked when instead he was met with a surprised squawk and feathers beneath his paws. Aspenpaw delivered a quick clean bite to the struggling birds throat and only let it go once he was sure it was dead. He did it? He did it! He caught a bird!! "I CAUGHT A BIRD!!" He shrieked excitedly leaping for joy, oh when Floodsight hears this-- from someone else because he didn't want to talk to her of course. Aspenpaw picked up his bird and carried it towards his shrew. One more hunt and he was sure he'd ve done for the day. He was started to regret his over excited scream because any prey that had originally been in the vicinity were probably gone by now.

Aspenpaw travelled a bit away in search for more prey, not to far of course. This was his first hunting lesson and he would hate to disobey orders immediately. He only stopped once he caught the scent of a squirrel. This one took him longer to spot but once he looked up, the bushy tailed vermin was not to far away. In fact it was just a few pawsteps away. Uhhh what should he do. Any movement would definitely spook the squirrel, it hadn't seen him yet but how hard would he be to spot when the squirrel was less then a tail length away from him. Aspenpaw began lowering himself into a hunting crouch hoping the squirrel would continue being daft and not run away.

Roll: 9 {Messy catch}

His sudden movement even though slow, immediately caught the attention of the squirrel. The grew vermin immediately sprinted for a tree and shot up it. Aspenpaw was quick to chase it leaping off the ground and scaling the tree. He didn't know how to climb and immediately felt himself falling. Desperately he reached out claw managing to snag the hind quarters of the squirrel and pull it down with him. Luckily the pile of leaves at the base of the tree managed to break most of his fall, the squirrel however was less dazed then him and began making a run for it again. Aspenpaw twisted around and chased after it. It reached the base of tree and was about scale it again but aspenpaw would not allow it. With a powerful swipe he knocked the squirrel off the tree sending I sprawling. He was quick to catch it, finally managing to give it a killing bite. Not the cleanest of catches but atleast he caught it!. Picking up the squirrel aspenpaw headed back in the direction he had come. Following the scent of shrew and bird. Once he found the rest of his prey he picked it up satisfied with today's catch.

He began heading off in the direction he had though he'd come from but after a little walk he came to a river, not a field. Ok so maybe he took a wrong turn. He wandered around a little bit longer until it became clear that he was in fact lost. Uh ok maybe just go back to- um. "HELLO!? GUYS!!? ANYONE " He shouted dropping his prey and pacing in a circle hoping his patrol mates would find him.

{He isn't to far away so peachspring and Seapaw should be able to hear him /w\}

"...Hawks."
A single word that said everything. And Owltalon knew. Oh, everyone knew.
What they didn't know, was that Starrypaw was more close to her goal than everyone thought.

She could already imagine her sharp claws sinking into the brown feathers, reaching the tender flesh and clawing the entire body to the bone. She would chew its legs and sink her teeth into its neck.

Her eyes burnt of a deep hatred.

Purrks: Agatha Kitty [ACTIVE]

She wouldn't of expected anything else. With a quick flick of her tail, the deputy nodded her head curtly. "Yeah, al'ight." She then shuffled herself slightly, trying to shake her nerves before pausing a few heartbeats. "Just so ya know, chap, I'm 'ere if ya wanna talk." It wasn't very subtle, but Owltalon believed she didn't need to be. Starrypaw was obviously going through some messy stuff, and Owltalon couldn't blame her.

The deputy snatched up a rock within her reach, her long and blood stained claws scraping against rock before they skid to an abrupt stop. If she could find some sort of bird to mutilate for the lesson, she would, but perhaps that should come later.

"When it comes to killin' anything, ya gotta find it's weak spot or it's advantages and turn 'em inta disadvantages." She twirled the rock in her calloused paw, observing it's dips and weathered surface with a keen eye. "Hawks can fly... Obviously... But if yer fast enough, ya can rip at its wings. Stear clear of their talons though, they're pretty crafty with their claws. We cats are flexible, so use that to your advantage. Also, ya should aim at there tail." The deputy looked up to the sky with a somewhat pleased grin. "I would watch birds fer hours on end, chap, and I noticed how they use their tail ta stear. Kinds like us, eh? Our tails keep us balanced, same with birds. If ya remove them tails, they're downed. They can't do anythin' but shuffle."

She placed the rock back on the ground, her eyes narrowed. "Same with the wings. Ya can identify flight feathers by looking at their largest ones. Once they ain't flyin' they sure are easier ta fight. Though, they still have 'em talons. I must warn ya, Starrypaw," her gaze trailed back to the appreciate, her gaze softening. "If they're already airborne there ain't really much ya can do. But if you can fight, do it. A blow to the neck is sure ta kill em, and a strong enough hit to the eyes will surely blind them, if you can reach."

She then sat back down, her eye flicking to the sky for a moment. "Any questions?" She asked, her head tilting slightly.

Seapaw
he/they - 8 moons - Go with the flow

Right, he better grab something else. His little head swivelled as he searched for something, not acting very apex predatorly. But! Much to his luck, he spied something sniffling near the river. Was that another one of those vole things? They were very little. He adapted a crouch again, creeping towards it. [D20: Rolled 10. Result: Just about!! But he's falling in the river lol] Now, time for action. His tail wiggled in his air, paws slightly disturbing the grit below him, a slight noise, and apparently, enough for a shrew to hear. But he couldn't let it get away!! They had to come back with more than one piece of prey! The leapt into the air, paws outstretched dramatically, before falling just behind the shrew and running right after it. Paws slammed down in an eruption, luckily capturing the animal, but very much throwing him off balance.
The apprentice felt their paws skid, back, then front, he was falling in, wasn't he?? Instead of prioritising his safety, the paw made sure to bite the shrew's neck, before topping ever so dramatically into the water.
Plop!! Such a small cat didn't make a big splash.
Despite his messy fall, he was actually quite happy to be in here - though he'd never been underwater before, though, swimming upwards seemed an obvious choice. Paws paddled upwards, and his head emerged. These currents weren't harsh at all, thankfully. Little eyes blinked at the shore, where he saw his kill, lying nicely on the ground. At least he'd managed that! They paddled up to the riverbank, before heaving themself out. The soggy cat shook themself off, before collecting their kill.

Where to next?!

HELLO?
Oh - there to next. He collected his squirrel, and followed the sound of Aspenpaw's voice. He wasn't far at all, a small distance from the river. "Hepghf?" He greeted him, before realising he really couldn't talk while carrying prey. Still sodden, the paw placed his catches down - "I mean - uh - hello!"

+1 vole

Peachspring
20 Moons || RiverClan Warrior || She/her
. . .
RiverClan’s Southern Sweetheart
. . .

Alrighty. A thrush and a mouse. She could totally do better than that. Peachspring bounced back up into action. Once more she began tracking the scent of the bunny. The little rodent could run, but it couldn't hide. Not from her. (She really hoped it didn't start running. Peachspring despised running.

She remained quiet and cautious as the creature's scent got stronger and stronger. She was careful to steer clear of the leaves when she dropped down into the crouch. She absolutely adored leaf-fall, but she hated how vulnerable she was to accidentally stepping on a pesky little leaf or twig. The grass tickled her fuzzy belly, and she resisted the urge to squirm. As she crept closer and closer, the rabbit's ears perked straight up into the sky and it's nose twitched rapidly. Horse feathers!! Peachspring froze, scowling and hoping that somehow the bunny hadn't noticed her. She held her breath until the white rodent crouched back down and relaxed.

Her eyes glinted and Peachspring room her chance to spring out of the grass and onto the rabbit. But similar to the thrush, this stubborn bunny wouldn't give up without a fight. She hissed as she pinned it down and bit it's neck. The molly dropped the rabbit and buried it before continuing on her hunt. She should probably catch another piece of prey or two.

Peachspring resumed her prowl and tasted the air once more. The freshest and nearest scent was a vole it seemed. Easy enough. She thought to herself as she began to follow the scent. As she approached it, she dropped down into the same crouch she'd done a million times and stalked the rodent as it frolicked about in the crisp autumn weather. It was a scrawny little thing, and when she pounced and bit it's neck it didn't put up much of a fight, going limp in her jaw quickly.

She was about to drop it to the floor and find one more piece of prey, until she heard Aspenpaw's voice ring out through the territory. Her ears perked and panic seeped through her. Was he lost? She wondered as she quickly began to retrieve her prey from each of the holes and dash back towards the clearing where she'd declared that they would meet. Her heart dropped to her stomach when she realized that neither apprentice was there. Dammit. Where were they?! She took a deep breath and looked around. Alright. Time to put those tracking skills to good use.

The molly caught Aspenpaw's scent easily, following it towards the banks of the river. And sure enough there the two were. She dropped her prey to the ground to let out a dramatic sigh of relief. She then bounded over and exclaimed. "Aspenpaw! You scared me real bad, kiddo! Glad we found you." She meowed with a friendly bump to the apprentice's shoulder and a hearty laugh.

Her bright eyes examined the prey that the apprentices both had. "Nice work today, you two. You both caught a nice bunch of prey! I'm proud of you both." She stayed with a grin. She was an affectionate cat, in both praise and touch, and she'd be vocal about it. Peachspring also took notic of Seapaw's soggy pelt and couldn't help but tease, "Looks like Seapaw also went for a swim."

"We'll then, if we're all wrapped up, are you ducklings ready to head back to camp?" She inquired.

The deputy padded out into the territory, claws clicking against the rocky terrain. "Al'ight, we're 'ere chap." She looked behind her to Rainpaw, a small smile present on her battered paw. She sure liked to stretch her legs, and she was even more excited to ramble about predators and such. It was fun and plenty interesting, so she was more than flattered that an apprentice was interested in her minor hobby.

Sooner or later, the she-cat settled to a stop and paused for a moment. "Is there anythin' ya wanta learn specifically?" She looked at the apprentice with an excited gaze. "I'm an open book, chap."

[OOC: I double checked to be sure and it looks like it was Ravenpaw that wanted to train with Owltalon for some advanced combat skills!]

Ravenpaw bounded after Owltalon excitedly, honored and thrilled by the opportunity to train with the RiverClan Deputy. She caught up quickly, nodding eagerly when she did. "Yes! You see, I want to be the strongest - or, at least among the strongest - warriors in RiverClan one day!" She meowed proudly, standing tall. "I'd like to learn some more advanced fighting techniques. I heard you taught lessons on predator combat." When she finished explaining, she dipped her head respectfully. "Please, Owltalon, teach me so I can be strong and protect my clan!"

Weepingwind
short-furred, black ghost tabby with dark green eyes
purrks: n/a
she/her | riverclan warrior | 31 moons

After clearing out the elder’s den, Weepingwind gathered up the heap of debris, careful not to let it scatter again. Old, dried moss and scraps of other debris clung to her fur as she carried the load away, determined to leave the den free from the clutter it had harbored for far too long. She made her way through the territory, finding a spot downwind from camp to deposit the mess, scraping a shallow hollow into the dirt and sweeping everything in before covering it up. It wasn’t the most glamorous task in the world, but she took a certain satisfaction in seeing the waste buried and knowing the elders would have a fresher, cleaner place to rest instead of that mess. The air was relatively crisp as Weepingwind padded through the forest, the sharp scent of leaffall lingering all around her nostrils. Red-and-amber-colored leaves drifted down with each breeze, carpeting the ground in a rich layer of autumn colors. The trees casted long, thin shadows across the forest floor, making her almost feel like a shadow herself as she moved through the territory with light steps. A soft crunch echoed beneath her pale paws as she reached the familiar grove where moss grew thick along the base of a cluster of sturdy trees. Despite the season, the moss here remained lush, untouched by the chill that had begun to creep into the territory.

She lowered her muzzle to inspect the growth, feeling the cool, damp texture against her nose. Carefully, she scraped her claws along the bark, gathering thick, green clumps of moss and laying them aside. Each bundle she collected was soft and springy, just the sort of bedding that would keep the elders warm as leaf-bare crept itself closer on each passing day. As she worked, she noticed the subtle signs of the season shifting around her: the way the sunlight barely filtered through the bare canopy now, casting only a faint golden light that seemed to struggle against the coming cold. Even the forest felt quieter, as if every creature was holding its breath in preparation for the long brutal leaf-bare ahead. A distant crow cawed, breaking the stilled silence, and Weepingwind glanced up, watching its dark form soar against the pale gray sky. She couldn’t help but feel a pang of anticipation at the sight—soon, everything would be coated in frost, and tasks like these would be harder, the cold leeching warmth from the clan’s dens and slowing the rivers. Shaking off the thought, she returned her focus to her work, gathering each clump of moss with care. The elders deserved to be comfortable, especially now that the warmth of greenleaf was a fading memory.

Once she had enough, Weepingwind bundled the moss together, nosing it into a neat pile. She took a last look around the grove, breathing in the earthy scent of the forest floor mixed with the soft dampness of the moss. Satisfied, she gently picked up her gathered moss by her jaws, ready to head back to camp and complete her task, even as a light breeze lifted stray leaves and carried the chill of impending leaf-bare.

Well Insulated

She / Her ; 30 Moons
a thick-furred, gray-black bengal she-cat with a lavender vine wrapped around one front paw, mentor to crowpaw and deerpaw.

Lavenderleopard´s gaze softened as she recognized the uncertainty on the tom´s facial expression. As the two cats walked side by side within the territory, the she-cat´s curled ears lay flat against her head. ´´I´m sorry. I didn´t mean to offend you, Garlicfeather.´´

GarlicFeather
Purrks: Killer Aptitude Tier 3, Just a scratch
Info: He/Him - Warrior

GarlicFeather drew in a deep breath, his eyes skittered across the shadows he passed by and he anxiously kept on guard. Trying not to seem too jumpy as he kept a steady pace alongside LavenderLeopard, he tried to make how tense he was at being outside of camp ( something he'd agreed to) a little less obvious. At the sudden apology garlicfeather blinked processing a little slowly. Garlic Feather wasn't really offended, maybe it was the grumbling..? He shifted through his mental catalogue of responses and offered a confused blink. "Offended? it took a moment or two for the next couple of words to be pried from his mind to his mouth, "You didn't offend me?" Maybe it was the other way around, and this was a way of getting Garlicfeather to see that he'd accidentally insulted someone. He searched Lavender's expression for any hints of such- being offended that is.
