This was okay. It was fine. He took a deep breath and a good chunk of the nerves he had dissipated, though they weren't all gone for good. Maybe he could get some brownie points with Newtbelly if he did an okay job, though. That'd be chill. “I must be quite the lucky duck,” he replied lightheartedly.
Basspaw then quickly got to trying to copy Newtbelly's example, crouching down, spacing out his paws, adjusting his shoulders so that they felt looser than before. His head was down so he could look at his lower body easily, to check if everything looked correct. He glanced back up at the Enforcer to compare their stances and realized his body was much too low, so he fixed himself. Small bend in the knees. Shoulders were loose, paws were — he moved them a tiny tiny bit — evenly spaced. Ready!
The apprentice looked eagerly at Newtbelly for approval.

He couldn't help but give a small smile to Basspaw's response. Lucky duck? Now that was a phrase he hadn't heard much! It was quite sweet, though Newtbelly wouldn't let that much be known. The apprentice copied his stance, taking some extra time to adjust and correct himself, shoulders, knees and whatnot. "Good," the calico responded with a nod. It'd be good to move on, considering Basspaw and most of the other apprentices seemed ready, but Tigernight was yet to give any kind of go ahead. He tilted his head and looked at the warrior, awaiting further instruction.
