Padding from the apprentice den into the chilly morning, the dark-furred warrior lifted her gaze to the sky.
A little overcast today. Not surprising, it's only just become newleaf...
Turning her gaze towards the apprentice den, Moonfrost let out a small sigh. There was so much that had happened in just the past moon. Perhaps she should check on Cloudpaw, see how she was doing.
Padding across the clearing, she carefully wove her way into the den, looking for the apprentice's form in the nests. Upon spotting her, the stripped molly delicately stepped between the nests in her way and sat at the edge of Cloudpaw's own nest. A warm smile lit her face and she lowered her head to give her adopted daughter a lick on the head.

⇢ Among the peacefully sleeping bodies of other apprentices, the small fluffy shecat was curled into a ball in her warm moss nest. It was another dreary morning full of nothing but more overcast and Cloudpaw had no plans set for the day ahead, so there she was, sleeping away as much as she would be allowed to. The black-and--white molly found that sleep was an excellent escape from pain -- whether that be emotional or physical, that is up to you. Her dreams were full of adventure and romance that soothed Cloudpaw’s anxieties and woes. Many things had changed about her since she left the Riverclan nursery, but the things she dreamed about was not one of them. There were strange twolegs and large structures and delicious food that she had never tasted before. However, nothing as blissful as this lasted forever, and Cloudpaw soon found herself waking up to Moonfrost licking her head. “M-Mama..?” The fluffy shecat murmured sleepily as she opened her eyes and peered up at the familiar striped warrior. Her small jaws stretched open for a moment as the youth released a gentle yawn, breathing in the ice-cold air of the early morning. Off within the distant trees outside of the den, Cloudpaw could hear the lovely song of a blackbird, making her ears twitch.

Smiling warmly at the young cat, she gave her a quick nuzzle and gave a flick of her tail to gesture for Cloudpaw to follow her.
Come little one, I want to show you something.
Warmth filled her heart as she realized how well the apprentice understood her, despite her lack of voice. The little she-cat had become immensely important to Moonfrost in the short time they had known each other, and the thought filled her with happiness.
My sweet daughter. You've been through so much. Let me bring you some joy.
Turning towards the entrance to the den, her dark tabby pelt blending into the shadows, she looked back at Cloudpaw, her blue eyes shining as she waited for the apprentice to rise.

⇢ Peering up at the comforting sight of her adopted mother, Moonfrost, the small fluffy shecat couldn’t help but smile back up at her. She then grew rather intrigued by the older molly’s gesturing flick of her tail. Oh? An adventure? How could someone like Cloudpaw even think to resist? With a huff, the young black-and-white apprentice scrambled out of her warm moss-nest. Even though Moonfrost was completely mute, she had no trouble understanding what her mama was trying to tell her. It was probably because of the first true friend she had made in the nursery -- Spikekit. The tomkit had been mute, or at least, Cloudpaw thought he was. The small apprentice couldn’t recall a single time that he had spoken when they played together. Regardless, it had helped her understand cats that didn’t talk. She could still remember that day when he had tried to help her figure out his name. Haha, that was certainly a fond memory. Realizing that she had drifted off into her thoughts, Cloudpaw shook her head and bounded over to stand at Moonfrost’s side at the Apprentice’s Den entrance. It looked like a bright sunny day outside, which was quite a difference compared to the usual weather, but an exciting kind of difference for her. “Let’s go!” She mewed, jumping up and down as she gazed up at the Riverclan warrior, “Also, l-look at me, mama! I’m not s-stuttering as much!” It seemed like those exercises worked.

Eyes sparkling, Moonfrost gave the black and white she-cat a light headbutt to the shoulder, a motivational gesture. She could tell how hard the apprentice had been working on her speech, and it was paying off. Running her tail over the back of her daughter, Moonfrost pushed her way out of the den into the bright morning sun.
You've been working so hard. You deserve some fun!
Turning back to face where Cloudpaw would emerge, the black tabby shuffled her paws excitedly. It had been a while since she had been to Haven Springs, and she was excited to show the young molly. Taking a swim in the warm water would be perfect, both as a way to relax after everything that had occurred and as a way to spend some quality time together. The thought made her immensely happy. She had resigned herself to the fact that she would most likely never have kits of her own, but in the greatest twist of events in Starclan's intentions, she had been gifted a daughter who needed her.

⇢ As her adopted mother gently headbutted her shoulder, the black-and-white apprentice giggled and gave the shecat’s head a quick affectionate lick. It always made Cloudpaw so happy whenever Moonfrost was proud of her, even when she did little things. Hurrying after the striped molly, the two of them slipped out of the den and into the warm, sunny clearing. It reminded her of that time Otterfluff took her to see the sunset in Firefly Cove, which was now a rather fond memory. As much as Cloudpaw missed her younger days in the nursery where she didn’t really have to worry about anything, she had to admit that going outside like this and seeing the world was so much fun. As the small youth gazed around at the various cats that skeckled the open clearing in the middle of camp, she wondered what Moonfrost had in store for them on such a lovely day -- something fun, without a doubt! It was times like these where she truly appreciated being able to have a mom again.

As she looked back to check if the young she-cat was following her, she bounced lightly, excitement filling her body. She looked up at the newleaf sky and smiled. The clouds were dissipating as the sun rose higher in the sky, warming the air slightly.
Good, we wont be too cold after our swim.
Waving her tail, Moonfrost trotted to the camp entrance and pushed her way through the tunnel, jaws parted to scent the air. She was starting to smell the budding plants and flowers, carried softly on the breeze. Her blue eyes sparkled as she turned to wait for Cloudpaw, black tabby fur prickling excitedly. Going for a swim to relax was one of her favorite pastimes, and now she had someone else to share it with besides her sisters.
Oh my sisters! I haven't told them. I'll have to introduce Cloudpaw to them later.
The thought of her family growing even more made her smile. Wolfsong had never been fond of young cats or kits, that was always more Moonfrost's thing. The black she-cat had a soft spot for young cats. They didn't question her disability, they just accepted things as they were and learned to overcome as she had herself. Something about the innocence and joy found in young cats inspired her, and their ability to overcome tragedy was impressive.
I'm glad I can bring you some joy despite all you've been through.

➢ Once the dark-furred shecat looked back at her, the small fluffy apprentice smiled and quickened her pace slightly so that she could be right alongside the warrior. She rubbed against Moonfrost’s back leg in an affectionate, comforting way with a loud purr erupting from the Riverclan youth. There were certain times when Cloudpaw wished that Moonfrost could be her biological mother. She wished that they could’ve played mossball in the nursery together and she could’ve been taught how to swim while all still a kitten. Then maybe her apprentice ceremony wouldn’t have been so pitiful with Rosyfrost and Swansong both not being there to congratulate her. However, it was foolish to think about those things now. The past could not be changed, so what better way than to focus on the amazing day they’d spend together instead? Pushing through the camp’s tunnel entrance, Cloudpaw peered around at the beautiful lush forest that opened up in front of the two mollies, filled with sweet scents of flowers and all while bathed in warm sunlight. Glancing at Moonfrost, the Riverclan shecat then bounded forward through the green grasses, loving the feeling against her tiny delicate paws. She made sure not to go too far ahead, looking back at her mama occasionally so they wouldn’t get seperated, but Cloudpaw couldn’t resist taking in all that the Riverclan hunting grounds had in store today.

With her hoarse, distorted purr building in her chest, Moonfrost quickened her pace until she was running through the territory, making sure to keep a slow enough pace for Cloudpaw to keep up. It felt good to stretch her legs, feeling the sun on her pelt and the wind on her face. She leaped over a small branch, relishing the feeling of her muscles loosening.
What a beautiful day, and a great way to spend it.
As she approached the hot springs, she slowed to a trot, looking over her shoulder to watch the little black and white apprentice. She waved her tail happily as she spotted the steam rising from the warm water pools ahead. She looked around, spotting the easier path up the smooth stones, and made her way over to the lowest one. Waving a paw, she gestured to the path to show her daughter the way up.
I hope you like it, this is one of my favorite places.

➢ Feeling the happiest and carefree she had felt in a long time, the young apprentice followed after the dark-furred warrior as the two of them slowly made their way to what Riverclan called ‘Haven Springs’. As the location grew closer, Cloudpaw couldn’t help but look around at the trees and overall layout of the forest as it changed. It became very unfamiliar, but exciting to her at the same time. “I’ve never been to this part of the f-forest before!” She casually mentioned to Moonfrost, making sure to keep close to her beloved mother. The black-and-white molly could feel the warm sunshine on her back, causing a joyful purr to rumble from the base of her throat. Both the heat of the sun and the cool breeze that swept through the forest created an absolute heavenly sensation that Cloudpaw hoped she would never ever be able to forget. Wiggling her hips, the small Riverclan shecat hopped over the small branch shortly after Moonfrost did, huffing proudly once she did so without any trouble. Simple things like that honestly made Cloudpaw feel so delighted for some reason. She craved more tiny joyous moments like that.

After a little bit more walking, it appeared like the Riverclan shecats had finally reached today’s destination. Cloudpaw noticed Moonfrost’s pace slow and she made sure to catch up to the striped molly as they met gazes for a second or two. She could tell that her mama was very, very happy that they were here from her body language alone. Had Moonfrost ever appeared this happy in front of Cloudpaw before? The fluffy youth couldn’t remember, but was now really excited to see what she was about to be introduced to. Up ahead, the black-and-white apprentice could see… something rising into the air. It looked like fog, but usually that stuff was everywhere! This particular stuff seemed more unique and she was tempted to ask Moonfrost about it, but decided to just keep quiet and be patient. It would all be revealed with time, without a doubt. Bounding alongside the larger shecat, she was eventually lead to a smooth stone, seeing her mama gesture with one paw for her to follow. Cloudpaw was almost tempted to go ahead of her and jump onto the platform, but ultimately chose to be safe and wait for Mama Moon.
