Birth of a Forever Burden

No no no no no. This couldn't be happening NOW?! Bearspot rushed towards Bee's side and started to lick her neck to comfort her. Her breathing was slowing down, there was blood all around her. Not now, not now, not ever. His green eyes were clouded with sorrow, too much was happening at once. The kits were mewling, four of them at least. He couldn't let them die, but he couldn't let Bee die either.

"Just keep breathing Bee, you'll be fine," Bearspot urged, nuzzling his nose against Bee's scruff, "I-I'll get help."

From who you idiot! Bearspot spat to himself, tears welling up in his eyes. StarClan, if there even is one, please guide me, Bee, and our kits to safety. Even if I don't deserve it, please give them a chance. A chance to survive; a chance to thrive; a chance to grow up in your steps. He continued to groom Bee's neck, trying to keep her calm. He had his kits wrapped up in Bee's warmth to keep them from panicking.

"I don't care if I get exiled, or executed or murdered. I just want you and the kits to be safe." Bearspot muttered, glancing around the area. If anyone would come along, he would be fine with it.

Reedlight had gone out for a walk, just to relax for once, when he caught the scent of something familiar that made his stomach curl: blood. What happened? As he followed the scent, a familiar voice reached his ears. It was Bearspot, the tom who ridiculed him at the Gathering.

Running over with his heart in his throat, Reedlight was about to ask what was wrong when he stopped, seeing the scene in front of him. He froze, eyes wide and thoughts whirling, as he registered everything in front of him.

A small black she-kit with white specks mewled from hunger, attempting to suckle from her mother, even despite what was going on. At the growing tension around her, she cries out louder, trying to shuffle into her mother's warm pet through her littermates.

The she-kit complained, mewling with fear as she scnted the blood, but she was hungry. She was glad her eyes were shut, so she wa glad for that. It must be scary to see with cat's whose eyes are open.

The fluffy brown kit nestled closer towards her siblings and mother. She didn't mew much but touched the sticky stuff around her. It was warm and smelled like her mom. The strong, sickening scent was everywjhere, even covering her belly and paws. Her mother was covered in it. She wondered what was happening as she heard loud noises around her. She curled her fluffy tail around her littermates' bodies in a protective way.

Lillyfang had gone out hunting when she spotted reedlight. She padded over. She froze at the smell of blood. She burst into a run and saw what was going on. She hurried to bearspot's side. "Whats going on?" She asked in a panicky mew. She started licking the flank of the queen.

Bearspot's attention was focused on his dying mate, he couldn't let her go. Wait, are those RiverClan cats? Lilyfang, and Reedlight! He turned towards them, not letting go of Bee.

"L-listen, I know this may sound wrong," Bearspot started, voice cracking, "But I've been with a rouge for the past few moons."

He tilted his head towards Bee, her body laid across the grassy ground. There were three kits scrambling and mewing about near her belly.

Oh, for... What did that matter? He was far from the first one! Of course, he was now a hypocrite after all that talk at the Gathering, but Reedlight digressed. Without a word the dark tabby rushed over, making sure the kits were breathing... Which they were, thank StarClan. He said nothing, instead just doing his best to clean the young kits.

"Its ok" she mewed, her attention focused on the rouge. She saw three kits scrambling, the fourth one still. She started licking the kit, trying to get it to breathe

Pebblepaw had been hunting and heard the noises. She walked over to the group of cats and saw her adopted mother dieing. "Mom!" she yelled. She ran to her side, scared. "Please don't go," she whispered.
