Flickerpaw blinked slowly at her mentor's nervousness. She was expecting something a little more... impressive.

Then again, this was an opportunity. She could take charge and show the Clan what a natural-born leader looks like!

"Well, I heard that mentors usually start by showing their apprentices around the territory," she said, flicking an ear.

Blazepaw bounded up to her mentor Ripplenose. She thought it was funny that the beginning of her name was related to fire, and the the word ripple was usually used for the ripples in the water. "Hi!" She greeted Ripplenose, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "So, since you're my new mentor I guess you'll have to show me around the territory or something." She shifted her paws and waited for her mentor to respond.

Maplepaw looked around for her mentor. Everyone was already familiar with who their apprentice or mentor was, but she couldn't even remember the name! All she could remember was that it started with Flame. It wasn't unusual for her to forget who half the cats in the clan were anyways. She wasn't very sociable, and if she was it was only with her best friend, Blazepaw. Flameamber! That's her name, Maplepaw finally remembered, and bounded over to the other she-cat. When Maplepaw reached her mentor, she said quietly, "Hi. You're my mentor, right?"

She padded toward the entrance, raising her front paws with pride. "Shall we?"

"Woah, woah, woah," Flaresoul growled. He stepped quickly in front of her. "I'm the mentor, you're the apprentice. Just because you're related to the leader doesn't mean you get to boss older cats around, all right?" He glared at her. "I lead, you follow. Is that clear?"

Flaresoul's glowed got deeper and more menacing. "Don't act like you're in charge here," he snapped. "You WILL follow, and do what I say. So, Flickerpaw, you will stop acting like a know-it-all, drop that sassy attitude, stop acting like you're in charge here, and start showing some respect to the older cats in your life. Got it?"

Flickerpaw's pelt prickled slightly, a little unnerved by Flaresoul's sudden threat. Where was this earlier?

"Alright, alright," she mewed, "keep your fur on. I'm sorry, okay?"

Flaresoul could likely smell the slightest hint of fear from her scent.
