He recognized the stench before he even opened his eyes.

Blood, rot, and something darker attacked his nose all at once. He sank is claws into the soil and turned in a slow circle, heart thumping quietly against his ribs. First with Frostpaw, and now... this time. Only, he could see no one nearby who could have yanked him from his dream and into this hellscape.

"Who's there?" he barked into the shadows of the dead trees, an attempt to cover up his slowly growing fear. These cats lived off fear - shoot, they probably ate it, for all he knew - and he didn't dare to show it here. "Come on out. I know you're there."

Of course, if there really wasn't anyone there, he probably just looked like an idiot yelling at nothing.

Beetle was hunting, for the first time in the DF. Non-rotted prey was hard to find around here and he was hungry. He stalked toward the rabbit and...Some cat decided to yell, making the rabbit poof back to the waking world. Beetle, who was the size of a warrior seethed in anger. Whoever just lost him his lunch was going to pay. Beetle stalked the clearing the cat was in before letting out a soundless gasp." Oh, looky here, Buckstar? In the Dark Forest? Who would have thought?" Said Beetle staying completely in the shadows. The trees were hollow so his voice would echo around Buckstar.

"So you're still running and hiding," he shot back, trying to mask the tremors in his retort. "Typical. Why don't you show yourself?"

"Why should I? " Said Beetle using his tail to send a pile of leaves Buckyboys way. He enjoyed hearing the slight fear in Buckstars voice.
