Foxpelt had lost his life while the two were out training, and he was teaching her how to properly fish. Phloxpaw could recal it as it it had been yesterday;

“Phlox-Phloxpaw, look here.” The excited tomcat meowed eagerly in order to gain the attention of the distracted she-cat. “Look here- do you see the size of that fish? It could likely feed two cats in itself! Watch closely.” He instructed, his amber eyes falling back to the rushing waters.
Phloxpaw sat down, watching but a tad distracted. “Okay,” She meowed simply without much enthusiasm. The tom didn’t say much to that, but crouched down, with the red furs of his thick pelt brushing the earth below him. “Three,” he began counting. “Two, one!” He exclaimed, striking an unsheathed claw into the river, the harsh moment up carrying though into the river, and the flame colored tom with it. He let out a surprised shriek as his body hit the rushing, bubbling water and he was swiftly carried down into the rapids. “Foxpelt!” Phloxpaw screeched, and there was a moment that felt like an eternity in which Phloxpaw stood, frozen, doing nothing. Her mind raced as she tried to think rationally, to no avail. Then, the apprentice turned tail and fled back to the camp, shouting and shouting noncense until two other warriors accompanied her. The warriors followed her to where Foxpelt was last seen, before they ran downstream and sent Phloxpaw back to camp.
The next morning, the body of Foxpelt was carried limply back to camp. He was pronounced as dead nearly immediately after being brought back.

The dark pelted feline hardly heard Daisyshade’s voice, but looked up at the deputy. Phloxpaw contemplated her new mentor’s question, and almost couldn’t remember. “We- we left off with the basics of hunting. Yknow, like the patience part. Where you have to wait quietly before catching anything.” She meowed after a thoughtful moment. The feline picked up her pace as Daisyshade sped up a bit, coming to a halt when the deputy did. She glanced around in silence, before lifting her nose and inhaling deeply, catching the sharp, nasty smell of ShadowClan. “Ugh,” She cringed. “Gross ShadowClanners, that’s what.” Phloxpaw said grotesquely.

[ Blue won't be joining us due to jamming her thumb and kinda like... Swelling just a tad, so where going to have to wing it c: ]

She could see the pain on her apprenitce's eyes and her tail curved in concern, best not freshen the wound right now. the she cat glanced back out to the territory. She too had suffered trauma, perhaps not as great as the young phloxpaw but it still hurt just as much. The tabby sighed and glanced over the small ditch and leapt down into, skidding on the loose dirt til she hit the bottom than and was able to climb back up he one side into level ground, all the while her mind buzzing. Foxfur. Such similar names yet such differing meanings. The liberation had been a battle nobody would forget for too long... She had recalled how clan mate turned on clan mate. It had brought her near tears to see her clan distraught and oppressed with such anger and malice. the deputy's claws curled in their seathed as she trotted forward.

She had been attacked by a silvery warrior known as foxfur, an EE supporter. She was a good fighter and when Daisy had seen herself beat she was almost surprised when foxfur sprang again, this time to kill. the she cats long scar on her throat seemed to burn and suddenly she regret thinking in about the long gone she cat. She had been to horrified to too anything, scared, horrified until she was left for dead. And than she didn't. daisyshades ear flicked dismissively. Those thoughts whee buried with foxfurs body, no longer to be revisited by those who had suffered from it. "Thats a good start. I'll have to go out with rosepaw alone and level you two out before we do anything too major" she said after a long pause where she spent kicking dirt out from in between her pads. Than she trotted off again towards the border feeling charmpelts scent overwhelm her as she approched a fallen tree. And another who was just choked out by the border markings. The she cat grinned softly at phloxpaw, there was truth behind what she was saying. Shadowclan was disgusting. Despite having to peacefully commune with them there's always discomfort... Always. "Good job" she praised the apprentice.

"Right. What clan mate do you smell, can you tell who was here earlier today?" she proded sitting herself down facing towards the apprentice. She appreciated the young she cats fiery determination which she could quite easily see without digging to far into her character, it was something that riverclan needed at the moment. Warriros and apprentices with fiery determination and a will to serve their clan. "Take your time, and if you don't get it first try there's no problem" she meowed softly sweeping her large tail around her creamy white paws.

Despite Cloudsky's beliefs, the majority of the river was fast-flowing and the tri-colored tom knew the frozen patches were weak. One misstep and a cat could plunge into the icy current.

Since his Clan-mate seemed indecisive, Firehawk took initiative and began to head toward the exit. "Guess we're going to the river," he said, oblivious to the softening of her eyes. The sooner this patrol was done, the sooner he could be with his Iceflower. Being with cats he didn't know well made him a bit antsy and he couldn't wait to return to his mate.
She purred,” Alright. Hopefully it’s not frozen.” She meowed pausing,” Maybe we should get to know eachother as we head to the river, we may become friends over time...?”she suggested trotting out of camp assuming he was following

Cloudsky paused thinking of questions to ask him,” I appologize if I ask too many questions. Do you have a mate or kits or an apprentice?” She asked the one she was mostly focused on the key word ‘mate’, but it was better asking mate, kits, and apprentice becuase it sounds less like she’s begging to be his mate.

Rainpelt was waiting not more than three fox-lengths from the camp entrance, rhythmically thumping her tail against the icy back. It didn't take long for Runningpaw to emerge with the freshkill. She settled on the ground, sweeping her paw in a gesture inviting the younger cat to join. Her emerald eyes were as icy as the river beside them. Rainpelt had never been a cat to be pleasant for the sake of others, but if she had any reservations about showing her feelings, today they were gone. They had died the moment Juniperpaw had told her that her life of ignoring her body had officially come to an end. This was the world she lived in now! A world where her body wasn't hers to do with as she pleased, and where she couldn't be what she wanted to be! Runningpaw lived in that world too, whether he wanted to accept it or not, and if she was going to face the crushing reality of that, as Starclan as her witness, she wouldn't be the only one. This tom was living in a dreamworld. She would wake him.

Default Re: RiverClan Territory

The brightly colored tom rushed around, trying to gather up pebbles as quickly as possible. To be honest, he had no idea what he was doing - he was just following Swallowheather's lead. The she cat was so confident in her movements, it was nice. She would be an excellent flirting target for him... just as soon as she accepted that he was awesome, and all of that stuff. The worst part was that she seemed to have strictly friendly feelings towards toms. Perhaps it would have been smarter for Cardinalflash to target her shyer sister, who probably would have been thrilled with it. She and Jaywhisper were hitting it off pretty well together... he couldn't remember the last time that his brother had seemed so happy. Despite the calmness on his expression, there were hints of excitement and competitiveness flashing in his eyes as he spoke with Minnowblossom. What, were they discussing strategy or something?

"Hey, beautiful, over here!" He yowled, trying to attract Swallowheather's attention so they could come up with another plan. At this point, Cardinalflash had gathered up a small mound of pebbles and was trying to move it over away from the opposite team, where he was likely to get beaten if he stayed for much longer. There was no denying the fact that they were going to be tough to beat. Jaywhisper wasn't particuarly competitive, but he wasn't going to let a teammate down. Neither brother wanted to let their teammate down, which meant this was going to be quite the fight. And with Swallowheather's competitiveness, Cardinalflash was pretty sure they were going to win this. To rock this, just as he had said. "Swallow! Swalls? Is that a good nickname for you, Swalls? Or would you prefer to be called an angel?" The tom asked, still talking at a louder volume then his brother did, almost shouting across the area as he continued rolling pebbles together and back to his little mound. There were some that were a little larger then the others - hopefully those wouldn't hurt too much. He would just... aim for less sensitive areas when he tossed those.

Yeah, less sensitive areas, and hopefully - hopefully he would still have friends after this was over and done with. He knew that Jaywhisper was already disapproving of his strategy, because he could see the drabber colored tom staring at him from across the area. Cardinalflash had always been the 'to hell with strategy, let's do this thing' brother, while Jaywhisper had been the one taking care of details - cleaning up his brother's messes - the one who would plan out a strategy and stick to the plan, rather then straying all over the place. The one who was willing to sit all day and listen to someone talk. The one who could be quite an interesting cat if you could hear him, but he never spoke loudly enough to be heard. Cardinalflash wished just once, just one time in his life, that Jaywhisper would speak up and drown out his brother's voice. Maybe there would be a time that that would happen, but he wasn't sure quite when. He hoped it would be soon. He glanced over at the more drably colored tom, taking in everything from his serious expression as he watched Minnowblossom to his stance.

Cardinalflash could see that his brother was still tense, but loosening... perhaps this was going to work after all. He knew the last thing Jaywhisper wanted was for him to try and set him up with a she cat, but this was almost too perfect! Maybe Swallowheather would help too! After all, his brother was hardly a heartbreaker... maybe the two were just... made for each other? The little, shy, awkward one with the quiet one? It was a perfect match! And it would keep Jaywhisper away from Swallowheather, just in case the grey and white tom had his eyes set on the angel-like she cat. Cardinalflash was pretty sure he wouldn't have the nerve to so much as take a step in the pretty cat's direction, but then again, even if he did, it was sure to not be romantic. Why would it be? The tom rolled up another couple of rocks, moving as quickly as possible, excitement showing on his features as his paws carried him quickly towards the rocks that he already had stacked up.

Was he supposed to be... throwing these at the other cats? Not Swallow, of course, he would never do that - but the other cats who weren't Swallow? A mischievious expression came over his features as he put one reddish paw on the top rock and rolled it off. This was going to be good. With a mental battle cry, Cardinalflash flicked the rock at Jaywhisper and then turned around so that his brother (perhaps) wouldn't be able to tell that it had been him. At least, not that he had done it purposely. And with that, the war had begun. Cardinalflash thought about how clever he was, and how much fun this was going to be, half-giggling like a kit as he imagined the look on Jaywhisper's face when he and Swallowheather won this. Yes... this was going to be great! The tom was more excited then he should have been, and perhaps - in the end - that would be his very downfall.

The tom's eyes warmed a little, sparkling with amusement at Minnowblossom's furious statement. "Don't worry. I've got your back. And, just so you know... I know a thing or two about annoying siblings." He smirked, glancing over at Cardinalflash. The reddish tom was a nice cat, a good cat, but he could be a little too much sometimes. Sometimes Jaywhisper found himself wishing for a sibling who was just a little bit more normal. Of course, that request was always denied to him, mainly for the reason that there was no such thing as a "normal" sibling. Every cat had a quirk - Jaywhisper was confident that he had some flaws that were annoying to Cardinalflash, just as his brother had flaws that annoyed him. It was the neverending circle, one that always pushed everyone's buttons.

"Oh no. I couldn't do that, I'm perfectly fine to play." The tom mewed politely, keeping his voice level as he fixed his eyes on his brother and his pretty partner. Swallowheather was the one who had instigated this fight - Jaywhisper was planning on showing her just what he could do now. She might be a pretty she cat, but she did not strike him as the type that he would want as a close friend. Besides, she acted a little... weird. Minnowblossom was much more his speed, slower and sweeter and quieter. Calmer. Jaywhisper had met a lot of very pleasant, sweet she cats in RiverClan, but one more never hurt. Besides... having friends was always important, wasn't it? Yes. Of course it was. And Jaywhisper was determined to have more friends, since his brother was always pushing him to do that. It was really quite annoying when he thought about it - such a pain to be forced to make friends. Which was why he did his best to make friends on his own, even though he wasn't exactly the... best at it. "I know just the place."

The grey and white tom smirked at his newfound partner, his tail twitching as he got to his paws. Unfortunately, this was the moment that Cardinalflash chose to flick the rock at him - it rolled straight into the joint between his paw and leg, his ankle, and gave him a sharp shock of pain. Jaywhisper hadn't been expecting it, which was the initial jolt of pain he felt. Surprise tended to have that effect on the tom, it was often followed by a jolt of pain - or at the same time - which was not fun for him. "Shall we go?" He asked, with a mildly annoyed look in the other tom's direction. He wasn't planning on saying anything about it quite yet. Why should he? He had no need to get back at Cardinalflash, not until the game really started, even though the tom was trying to rile him up... get him good and annoyed so that the game would be more fun.

Well, it wasn't going to work on the warrior. Without waiting long for Minnowblossom's answer, Jaywhisper started padding off - not bothering to favor his sore ankle. It would be fine, perhaps a little bruised or beaten, but in the end, fine. There was no need to favor it; it was fairly uninjured, after all. At this point there was just some minor throbbing when he put weight on it and when he left it alone, the throbbing would increase when he went back to use it again. He was so going to get Cardinalflash back for this when the game really started. Perhaps a quick flick of a rock to the flank, that was bound to be good.

Or a quick flicking of one to his ankle - of course! That absolutely was the perfect thing to do! Give him the same amount of pain as he had been given. A low chuckle emitted from the tom's throat as he padded along, the dull throbbing fading as his thoughts turned to blissful ones of payback. Perhaps it was time for him to get a voice - one that Cardinalflash couldn't ignore.

@Constellation
(well... this took forever, sorry about that!)

Runningpaw's fur was pushed back by the cold wind as they padded over to their mentor, the prey seeming to become heavier the longer they held it for. They didn't need to be told to drop the prey as soon as they were close enough, using their paw to push it right in front of Rainpelt. Moving their jaw from side to side as if repositioning it, they took a seat next to the warrior, more or less ignoring the prey for now as they intended to let their mentor eat first. It was odd, to Runningpaw, that she had offered to share a meal even though to other apprentices, the idea wasn't that farfetched. They just didn't have the kind of relationship other mentors and apprentices had, as much as the white apprentice had wished for it, they had come to accept that Rainpelt only intended to teach them, not make friends. That fact always made them try a little harder to please their mentor during training but at the moment they couldn't shake the thought that the she-cat wasn't very pleased with them at the moment but they just couldn't think of the reason why, though they kept on thinking of something they should apologize today.
"Um, what training did you say we were doing today?" The question left them quietly, they had kept thinking about what they did wrong that they had forgotten what she had said before.

@Shoes bumbpity bump
"Battle training," Rainpelt replied matter-of-factly. She looked at the fish Runningpaw had brought and though she was hungry, her stomach gave a warning roil. the scent she normally enjoyed seemed too powerful these day. She wrinkled her nose. "But first, there's something I need to tell you. I'm...expecting kits," she muttered, staring blankly down at her paws. The words felt thick and wrong in her mouth like a gob of tree sap clinging to every wall and inch of tongue, choking her. "It's possible someone else will have to finish your training since I'm not going to be able to attend to my normal warrior duties as the time gets closer, let alone train with you." Rainpelt rattled off this news mechanically. There was no excitement, no joy, just a cold description of things to come.

A flaming ginger tabby pelt was seen darting through the thicket her pearly white paws scrabbling over the wet ground sending chunks of snow and ice skittering out of the way as she passed. Behind her, she assumed, was her second apprentice rosepaw. The first morning of training she hadn't been able to detect where he had run off to hence leaving him behind and taking phloxpaw out into the territory without him. Admittedly she had felt bad doing it since she didn't want him to miss out on training- but perhaps a one on one session was never hurt anybody. It gave her a chance to get to know the two individuals before she worked them together. It wasn't her original plan, but hey nobody had to know that. Slowly the she cat slowed to a trot weaving in and around slushy pot holes on the patted down pathway. Just ahead she heard the stream chuckle by, running over stones and pooling on the sides. Recently these last few sunrises had been warm and welcoming, bringing some livelihood back into the cats. It had also broken up some winter ice on the surface of the river. Fishing was back in session, for a brief time only before it got to dangerous. It was already going a little fast from the melting snow and ice, but how would they ever learn if they never struggled a few times. She glanced back over her shoulder for rosepaw a brief smile taking its place on her maw. "You where supposed to lead me to the river not vice versa!" she cooed happily wrapping her tail around her hind leg for a moment. To eager to wait though the tabby padded forward her paws begin gin to sink into the revealed mud of the bank. She screwed up her go face in disgust but kept gong til she found a good place seated by the bend of the river.

Rosepaw was trying his best to push through the snow, the small apprentince’s belly fur scraping the snow, sending chills through his body. He had been forgotten the last time, forcing him to try and find the camp when he barely knew where anything was. It had left him upset, and he had been hoping for some kind of apology from Daisyshade. After a few days had passed, he assumed he wasn’t going to get one, and forced himself not to hold a grudge. He was slightly disappointed about the battle as well, not being able to participate, and just having to stay in the camp with some of the other cats. He had quietly accepted he was the apprentince that didn't matter as much. Phloxpaw was the better apprentince. She knew stuff, or, at least, that was what Rose assumed. Daisy would obviously prefer Phlox over him. Forcing himself to snap out of his thoughts, he discovered that Daisyshade had passed him, now jumping through the snow to try and catch up to her. How had he failed his first assessment? It hadn’t even been that hard! Fighting tears of frustration, he began to waddle through the snow. He was tempted to climb one of the few trees, but that didn’t really go so well, or, at least, that was what he thought. Riverclan was swimming, that was why they were called Riverclan, right? Skyclan climbed trees, though they were called Skyclan for whatever reason, not Treeclan, which was a more fitting name in the apprentince’s eyes. Finally getting close to the deputy, Rosepaw sped up, finding his paws stuck in some mud. He grimaced, quickly moving out of the thick substance, finally reaching Daisyshade, not knowing what would happen since he didn’t really complete the task.

Admittedly daisyshade knew that rosepaw seemed alittle hesitant about her and it made her uncomfortable to know he was skeptical about talking and trusting her. For a brief moment she was caught in her thoughts but when she heard rosepaw padding up throguh the mud she glanced over her shoulder. He didn't take that comment as a joke. Fox dung. her ears flattened down and suddenly her confidence drained through Her paws. She glanced over her shoulder looking at the tom, "I thought we should take advantage of the weather, phlox paw hasn't had any hunting done yet cause it's been cold so I guess you can help her later" she said offering a faint smile as she glanced back toward the water which continued its fluent path out of the territory. She leapt off her rock down onto the mud and slinking forward, making sure her white belly fur never touched the mud. Once she reached the bank which was littered with rocks and pebbles that made up some kind of rough ground to stand on she sat beside the river pushing away some chunks of ice with a paw. She leaned over the side of the water not minding that her shadow fell over the clear water. Within it took her a moment to spot fish, none where to big but just big enough for a first time. She looked back over her shoulder, "right- let's start with some basics for fishing. I know the waters goign a little fast from run off, but I won't let you fall, I promise" she said looking at him with affectionate eyes.

(( okay this might be shorter since i’m not feeling very creative ))

Rosepaw quietly grimaced as he saw Daisyshade appear to be somewhat uncomfortable. Was that his fault? He hadn’t meant to hurt her feelings in any way, it just felt weird to have to do such big things on his first official mentoring session. However, he was relieved to not see any real disappointment on Daisy’s face. Sure, it ached that he had failed such a simple assignment, but he supposed things happened sometimes. As she continued to speak, Rose perked up a bit. Phloxpaw hadn’t been trained in hunting? That was a surprise to him. He hadn’t exactly met her yet, but still. It boosted the appretince’s mood a bit, making him slightly more excited. As Daisy began to walk again, Rose grimaced about the fact that he had to walk through mud again, pushing his way through it to stand next to Daisy. He barely came up to the deputy’s shoulder, something he was used to, but still stung either way. He wanted to be tall! He wanted to see things from a higher angle! But that couldn’t happen, he was most likely stuck the way he was. Looking in the water, he saw the rippled reflection of himself staring back at him. Now he just quietly nodded, waiting for Daisyshade to show him what to do.
