The sound of pawsteps tickled his ears, the tom turned to see Lostfire padding towards him with a mouthful of prey. His jaw dropped a little and his chest puffed out. She did it. She outhunted the tom. A shock rocketed through his body. He could feel the frustration returning.

What a hit to his ego!

Once she was within earshot, he spoke up. "Looks like you had a good hunt," There was a hint of jealously within his words. "Well, I guess I'll stay true to my words, I'll have to go roll in the cold marsh," he mumbled, eyes flickering away from the she-cat.

The large she-cat let out a quiet chuckle. "maybe you should have tried harder," The she-cat mewed plainly before giving her chest fur a few licks with perked ears "I mean, if you want to catch a cold go ahead and roll in the marsh," The she-cat mewed bluntly, she didn't really care what Pineclaw did but rolling in the cold marsh would most likely mean one less warrior out hunting for the clan for a while and that didn't sit right with the she-cat especially now. The voices in her head screamed at her but she flicked her ears and ignored them per usual as they grew louder.

His green eyes flashed as they shot back at the she-cat. His chest puffed out more. "I was trying, so excuse you," the tom replied, tail tip twitching. "The prey just decided to be in your area of hunting this time. I'll get you next time though, if you'll have me for another hunting trip," he spoke, implying they should hunt together more often.

"It's probably a wise idea neither of us hunt alone, right?" Pineclaw asked as he dipped his head down to scoop up his prey in his jaws. They should probably get this back so cats could have their evening meals. He signaled with this tail for her to join, almost as if he had taken control of their small hunting party. "Wouldn't want to keep the clan waiting on this," Pineclaw spoke around feather, muffling his voice.

The large she-cat shrugged her shoulders, "Excuses, and more excuses. I prefer to hunt alone but I wouldn't mind Beating you again. The she-cat mewed picking up the prey she'd caught in her jaw.

Her ears twitched hearing Pineclaw say they shouldn't hunt alone. The thought irked her not because she didn't like hunting with others but for the fact that he thought it was wise for her not to. The she-cat saw a tail flick in her face causing her to let out a low growl but she quickly shut up and followed the tom-cat towards camp.

His ears swirled towards the she-cat at her comment and the low growl, his tail lashed a couple times before he picked up the pace a little bit. "You won't be beating me again," Pineclaw spoke through the feathers once more. His paws moved effortlessly across the marshy grounds, testing to see how well Lostfire would keep up.

The camp wasn't too far away, but Pineclaw seemed to find a way to make this another competition. One of speed. He might've only been trotting, but the competition he made up in his mind showed on his face as his eyes glimmered a little. "Try to keep up."

The large she-cats ears twitched as she grinned behind the prey she caught. "is everything a competition to you?" the she-cat asked her words muffled by fur and feathers as she started taking larger strides easily keeping up with the tom as she looked to the side and down at him. Her long legs making it easy for her to keep up with the tom, she started so she was a step in front of him grinning mischievously behind the morsels of prey she carried in her jaw.

To answer her question simply, Pineclaw sped up a little more after noticing she was a pawstep ahead of him. His trot was quicker now, but he held his position as either barely in front of the she-cat or matching her pace. A gleam shone in his eyes when he turned to give her a playful look. "Life's no fun without some competition," he replied.

The pace quickened as the camp came into view, he strode ahead of the other warrior, flicking her lightly with his tail. A teasing move to see if she'd take the challenge.

Snarlpaw slunk across the ground, targeting the bird. But his belly fur rustled a leaf and the winged creature flew away.

Loonfeather watched as the bird flew off, but since it had just heard something instead of seeing them both, the alarm call wasn’t as loud. It was shorter, meaning there were still likely other things in the area.

“That was a good first try,” he said. “Do you want to keep going and see if we can find anything else?”

The fluffy she-cat let Pineclaw a few steps ahead of her, Once camp came into view Pineclaw flicked his talk on her face causing her to sneeze. The large she-cat noticed they were growing closer to camp and sprinted past Pineclaw making sure not to drop the prey in her jaw as she ran.

The she-cat came to the camp entrance sliding to a stop. No one challenges me and wins. the she-cat thought with a mischievous grin.

A small chuckle left his body as the she-cat sneezed. Then, unexpectantly, the other warrior started making a break towards the camp. Pineclaw was hard on her tail, but her longer strides allowed her to bust through the camp entrance before he could.

A loud groan left him next, one filled of frustration, but he turned to the she-cat and dipped his head. "congrats, again" Pineclaw spoke, starting towards the kill-pile now.
