The shy tom entered the apprentice den letting stray rays of light float through the dimly lit den, he let his eyes drift until he spotted the familiar coat that belonged to his apprentice. Carefully he stepped over snoring young cats as he made his way toward his newly appointed apprentice, "Emberpaw, it's time to wake up we have a day of training ahead." His apprentice was a whole 8 moons and it would have to take days of training to catch her up to speed before she was 12 moons.

Slowly uncurling from her snuggled up position in her nest, Emberpaw blinked the sleep out of her eyes.
Roseheart? Training?
She stood carefully and arched her back in a stretch, orange tail pointing to the roof of the den. She nodded to Roseheart, determination sparkling in her amber gaze.
"I'm r-ready, Roseheart," she mewled quietly, not wanting to disturb the other apprentices still sleeping.
I wonder what he has planned?

"I'm r-ready, Roseheart," she mewled quietly, not wanting to disturb the other apprentices still sleeping.

He nodded to his apprentice as they walked out of the den into the open clearing, "What have you already done?"

Looking down at her paws, Emberpaw's ears fell back
He's going to be so disappointed...
She followed Roseheart to the clearing, gaze fixed on the ground in shame.
"I... I h-haven't done much... I've d-done a border patrol, b-b-but... that's it..." she stammered.

So his guess had been right slightly behind, "That's totally ok, we'll have to work hard to get you caught up so let's start with some basic hunting." The tricolored tom proceeded to exit the camp.

Following after Roseheart, her heart lightened a little.
We're starting with hunting! I was hoping it wouldn't be something more... dangerous. I'm not ready to learn to fight just yet...
Amber eyes glimmering, she had to trot to keep up with the larger cat, her ears swiveling as the sounds of the territory resounded around her. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. Roseheart sure seemed like a kind cat, the kind of mentor who understood what she really needed.
I just hope I'm right.

The mentor and apprentice duo traveled for a while until they finally made it to the peaceful weeping willow tree. He hoped his apprentice already knew what it was called, "This is The Weeping Tree it's a great place to hunt, rest, and has an abundance of prey. It was originally a memorial for the cats that died in the fire, but it's been vandalized."He swept his tail at the old tree.

Looking up at the bark of the tree, Emberpaw was overwhelmed with a sense of sadness. Blinking away the beginnings of moisture, she looked back to her mentor. "Who destroyed it? Can it be repaired?" The thought of a monument to the deceased being intentionally marred was incredibly distressing. She padded to the tree and reached a paw up the bark, feeling the multitude of scratches beneath her pads.

He listened to his apprentice's questions and shook his head, "I wasn't alive when it was vandalized or when the memorial was made." Rose backed up from the tree and turned to face his apprentice "Let's get started now shall we?"
