As of late camp had been... Interesting to say the least. With the medicine cats either stepping down or disappearing, kits mobbing warriors in the clearing... There was no lack of action. Regardless of this Yarrowcrest has taken it upon himself to set up a bit of a game for willing young cats... After all, all work and no play makes for dull little ones. So he's spent his time out while patrolling the borders or hunting taking a turn to collect a pretty rock when he sees one. When he finds ten of them he decides it's time.

Carefully he hides them around camp. Ten rocks, ten locations.

One was hiding amongst the fresh kill pile under the wing of a sparrow,
Another was atop the new badger skull Bumblestar had fashioned above the entrance of her den,
One was hiding beneath the paw of a Thunderclan elder,
Another three were beneath very obvious piles of dirt in the clearing,
And one was in sitting unguarded in his nest in the warriors' den.
One was nestled ever so carefully amongst other rocks near the small stream moving through the center of camp,
Another would be hiding beneath him when he would sit down in the camp clearing.
Then there would be one hiding amongst some foliage by the entrance of camp.

Hopefully the little ones wouldn't find them too quickly. Clearing his voice so he can raise it above any noise, he calls out to any nearby eager ears.

"Any apprentices or kits interested in a little game?"

mrrp! sitting up, the little kit looked around at the rather loud voice - to her, at least. she turned her gaze unto an orange-and-white kitty and stared heavily at him. one of his ears looked all messed up. would somebody fix it?

she then glanced around at the clearing to see who else had heard this kitty's invitation. a little game sounded like something a little kit should play - like her! she was still so tiny that her fur was fuzzy: an ugly duckling just hatched and dried.

well, seeing as she definitely should play this little game, she tottered over with a bright expression. "me! meee!" she mewed in a high, thin voice. though she certainly wouldn't know it, she sounded like a dog's squeaky toy that had a hole in it. "i wan-wana" she paused, stumbling on her rushed and eager words. "wanna play a game!"

coming to a stop just a little bit away from the ancient kitty, she plopped herself down and looked up at him. her mouth was slightly agape, and her eyes were big and wide with curiosity. what would be this game? she wanted to know.

It seemed there truly was no rest for the wicked, and Hollowpaw's afternoon nap was interrupted. A game, huh? Well, Hollowpaw wasn't above playing games, and if it meant he was busy so his mentor wouldn't be able to take him away well... that was a double win.

White tipped paws carry the brown tabby over to Yarrowcrest, and his eyes shift to a kit a couple moons younger than him who had already gathered. Skunkkit, he thinks, though he isn't sure. He's never cared enough before to ask and he still doesn't care enough now.

"This better be worth my time," he mumbles with a yawn as he sits down, not bothering to lower his voice.

Sunpaw had been off to the side of camp with a worthy pile of sticks by herself, playing her own little game. Her initial plan had been to make a stick fort with all the said sticks she had collected in camp, it kept her entertained. The ginger molly was so focused she didn't pay mind to the other cats in camp alongside her. No, what did catch her attention was someone calling out to play a game, she loved playing games! "OOH, OOOH GAMES?!" she shot around in yarrowcrests direction already excited. Judging by all the attention this was seeking she could guess that it was going to be a big, huge, game that involved them all. Without a moment's notice, she came trampling over to join not only the warrior but the other two who were already gathered. "What kind of game?! Huh?!"

This was such a fun day! She'd been picking around her little (soil) minions, spilling them about and making them cross the clearing at her paws when a warrior called out, taking Twistedpaw's attention. Her eyes flashed up, looking surprised before amusement took over at the idea of her first hunt - albeit in the form of a game, they used to do that all the back in the hole!

Apprentice after kit joined, and silently Twistedpaw joined them, head tilted in clear curiousity when even Hollowpaw had joined - whom she greeted with a friendly shoulder bump and wide grin, happy to see the buzzkill wanting to play a game!
"What game?"
Her paws quickly singed together, catbrows raised upon the inquiry of her question, eyes glancing at the cat's whom she recognised as Skunkkit aaaannndddd... Sunnypaw? She was really excited!

Ah, perfect. A small group had formed. When it appeared as though no others were keen on taking up his offer he looks upon the gathered four with a small smile. It was nice to interact with the younger cats in the clan. They were always so eager, so curious... Reminded him of simpler times where he and Sparrow would playfully compete with one another to see who could finish a lap around camp the fastest.

Ah, anyway. No time for such sad reminiscing. He had rules to explain and four pairs of excited ears-- well, maybe three-- that were waiting on him to do so.

"I've taken the liberty of hiding ten pretty stones around camp. They'll be obvious enough to pick out from regular rocks, I promise." Most of them he had found by the river, after all. Rivers always had the shiniest rocks. "Whoever can find the most of them wins. Now, no stealing from each other, no pushing or shoving, and no cheating, okay?"

Now he just had to think of a prize... What did every excitable apprentice or kit long for... Aha! He's got it. Hopefully it'll be good enough of a reward.

"The winner will take a trip with me out onto the territory for either a walk or a lesson." He takes a pause to eye Skunkkit. "When you're old enough, of course. How's that sound? If everyone is in agreement... Get looking. Good luck."

gah! a buncha other kitties, too! she strained to look at them all, bewildered and overwhelmed by their presence. all this speaking and moving and bright fur - she felt so small beside them.

brown eyes stared at the fluttering paws on a two-toned...kit? 'paw? what's all that mean? she wondered in whiplash. am i stupid? came the internal question.

wait, no!!! she'd completely missed half of Earwarrior's spiel, only retaining 'rock' and 'cheating'. Skunkkit tried not to look guilty, though she stiffened and sat straight up when he looked at her for some mysterious reason. he can read minds!! he's reading it right now!!! i'm doomed!

fur ruffled, the kit scampered off not a second after Yarrowcrest released the group as if a fire were lit under her. "rock, rock..." she muttered to herself. where would a pretty rock be...? what constituted 'pretty', anyway? a glittery, shimmery sheen pearlescent under the sunlight? smooth and perfectly round, to skip on water? speckled so colorfully the colors ran and bled together into something new?

she didn't know the definition of pretty, but she did know that lotsa rocks were by the little stream she liked to splash her paws in when no one was looking. so maybe there was a rock there! maybe even a pretty one.

she studied the sediment by the cold creek. her nose wrinkled up in concentration, as did her eyebrows, giving the false illusion of irritation or frustration. did pretty rocks smell good? like the soft, feathery, clean scent of a freshly washed pelt? like the savory scent of fresh-kill just caught? like the milk and honey on her mother's breath? she sniffed at the rocks closely, carefully.

though she didn't catch any significant scent, her eye hooked on a piece of smooth slate that glinted in rays of sunlight. the stream's water had made it glossy. Skunkkit touched a paw to it with curiosity. was this a pretty rock? it might be, so she nudged it away from the other rocks and glanced shyly around at her hunting clanmates.
