Default A Killer Caught (P)

Nightshade padded out of camp with the other two felines. Lizardsnap skipped along up ahead, and Nightshade’s icy pale eyes watched her flounce around in the distance. Her nostrils flared at the scent of the tom beside her, and she had to fight the strange feeling of attachment. He wasn’t like Hazelstripe. He was so, so breakable. He was like a little bird. She could hurt him, destroy him. The large, muscular molly turned her head to briefly disguise the glow of disgust and guilt before turning back to look at him.

She couldn’t care for him like this. He could be happier with “Hilly”. “Hilly” wasn’t an unhinged killer. Night couldn’t help but gaze at him briefly before moving her head alertly from side to side. She wasn’t the only danger in these woods. There were far worse predators to encounter. Ones without what little self control she had.

”What are we searching for again, love?” She asked softly, turning her head to face him once more, words delicate and articulate as she spoke to him. He was a little bird. So small, so fragile, so beautiful. And she had never hated herself more for what she was, because she knew he’d never know the real her. Just like no one else would. Just like even she didn’t know.

Perhaps it’d be for the best. He would be perfectly fine without her. She wouldn’t endanger him, it wouldn’t be fair. No matter how badly she wanted to be selfish and risk it, she couldn’t bear the thought of scaring him, or hurting him… or… or killing him. She felt selfish, caring for both him and Hazel so strongly, but at least she was smart enough to not put them in harms way. In her way. No matter how precious of a moment they had in the medicine cat’s den, no matter how lovely his eyes were. No matter how badly she wanted to feel cared for. It wouldn’t change the monster that she was, and she wouldn’t drag him down with her.

[ @ellie very sorry for the gross post but let the fun begin hehe ]
