White paws padded along with the procession in dutiful silence. The smaller warrior wasn't one for public speaking, especially in such somber circumstances, but grey ears perked up as Mudhound began to lead the service. Gently laying Lakebelly alongside her other fallen clanmates, Mistheart made sure to adjust their limp form into what could look like a sleeping position. They had served their clan with all they had, now they had earned their rest and plentiful prey amongst the stars.

She had not been close to any of the fallen cats, however she was not unfamiliar with the caretaking and creation of graves. The grey molly walked the line of bodies and gently pressed her nose to each of their heads in silent parting before placing her little leaf bundle down off to the side and joining the work of carving out suitable gravesites into the earth.

Despite it all, Drizzlecloud had hauled herself out of her moss nest to attend the burial of her clanmates. The least that she could do was send these cats off to rest among the stars with some kind words, seeing as she had done nothing during this entire ordeal–except for getting pummeled into the dirt. Alas, what could she do now except for continue?

Drizzlecloud watched Mudhound speak–her eyes drifting over the bodies of their fallen clanmates. Although she couldn’t hear what they were saying, she sure could make an educated guess. The air was thick with sorrow and just by glancing around–seeing the expression that Mudhound wore, she could only imagine the heartfelt words that her friend was speaking.

With a slow exhale, she stood from where she had been sitting. Ah, the world seemed to be a few inches off of it’s axis today. Better than it was before, she supposed, as she dug her claws into the ground below for some stability before she slowly stepped up closer to where Mudhound had previously been speaking.

“I would like to thank you all, on behalf of our fallen, for taking the time out of your night to honor our clanmates. May they sit with us for one last time tonight before we bid them farewell… I-I’d like to ask for a few moments of silence now, just before I proceed.” Drizzlecloud’s green gaze swept over the group of cats that had gathered tonight, silently willing them to agree. Lowering her head ever so slightly, she closed her eyes, her tail twitching back and forth with each passing second. After a couple of moments had passed, she closed her eyes, humming softly. “Thank you, all.”

Her gaze drifted to the bodies before her, a quiet sigh escaping her nose before she continued. “Our ancestors await our clanmates within the stars. Before they go, I wish to offer them my greatest words of appreciation for all that they have done for us in their lives. Fighting for our clan, providing for us, growing with us and simply blessing us with their presence in our day to day lives. We will remember them for all that they were. I speak for us all when I say that the simple glimpse of their fur in camp or their scent in the air will be missed. Endless, bountiful hunting awaits them. Well deserved rest, and calmness. May Starclan receive them openly and graciously, just as we had accepted and appreciated them here.”

The touch of Cherrypaw caught her attention, and she shifted her paw to keep herself stabilized on the forest floor.

“C’mere, kitto.” She murmured softly, curling her tail over the apprentice’s back and tilting her head to press her cheek against the younger molly’s head. Today was definitely a hard day for the clan, everyone that they had lost in the battle would leave a detrimental dent in their hearts. Losses such as these were always difficult to deal with, so companionship and comfort was very important during the healing process.

Riversongs request had surprised Mudhound a bit but inbetween digging and listening to the cats testimonials they'd taken in the request and found it as heartbreaking as it was reasonable. The plea of a mentor to make a final action for an apprentice they couldnt save.
"Of course Riversong. If thats what Finchpaw wouldve wanted then after Drizzlecloud says a blessing then feel free to take him. Just be sure to bring Blazepaw with you, they were siblings and he deserves to also be there when Finchpaw is buried. Im so sorry for your loss."
A gentle tail rested on Riversongs back before Mudhound was forced to pull away to sit by Drizzlecloud as she spoke.


The grief was perhaps the hardest thing to listen to, the cats who now had a hollow in their life and were struggling to deal with it. They hoped, sitting aside Drizzlecloud in silence, that her words at least brought them comfort.



There was just.... Nothing to say past that so with a soft "Thanks Drizzle." Mudhound moved to tag Rowanfrost, Sprucepaw and Mistheart who were helping with the digging to assist in gently lowering all the bodies (bar Finchpaw's) down and pushed the unearthed soil back over top.


The losts pelts would never see the light of sun again, lost to the stars, but in this moment another light came forth. Fireflies, having moved over from the cove and igniting as the dusk finally turned dark enough for them filled the area. It was as if the stars were brought to earth as if the lost to starclan were here to say their goodbye to the living, and the lights from the insects sparked and danced around the gathered cats.


It was beautiful, so it was with a choked throat that Mudhound dismissed the group with a "Thank you all so much for being here. Remember if you need anyone to talk to Im here to help. If you feel the need to take a moment to visit other graves and memorials while youre here feel free to hang around. Goodnight all." and turned to slump against Sprucepaws side for comfort.


Maybe they shouldnt burden their apprentice, but they couldnt help but mumble "Sometimes I wish no one ever had to die..... " before starting to walk home.

Wolfpaw remained quiet for the rites, ears flickering with concern when Riversong voiced a desire to bury Finchpaw elsewhere. That seemed... questionable, considering RiverClan once stole the cove when it was their graveyard.

But, he supposed that was all the more reason to kill the fish if they crossed the border. Wolfpaw departed back to camp once they were dismissed.

Oatpaw gave a low moan of sadness, he had placed his mothers grave right beside the rest of his familes. Owlclaw, Longsky, Grasskit, Stoneface all lined up in respectful heaps of dirt. Covering his mother slowly, Oatpaw gave a series of small, terrified and sad whimpers. "What will I do without... I'm all alone" He whimpered.
