Quietpaw
Shadowclan apprentice
Purrks: Mind reader(permanently active) and Shadow fiend(inactive)
72/100

Night was approaching. The wind was rustling the tree tops and most cats were already slumbering peacefully in their nests. Not Quietpaw. She was some place inbetween a night owl and a morning bird, always shifting. Tonight, she'd decided to spend her day...doing stuff, and as a result she'd missed her dinner. So, yeah. She was just having her meal in the middle of the night.

Silently, she stalked up to the prey pile, utterly tired and and with a grumbling stomach. Staring blankly at the scatter of animals or all shapes and sizes, she started sorting through it, looking for something she fancied. Quietpaw didn't want to be picky but she though she deserved soemthing nice after such an exhausting day. Finally spotting a piece of prey that was somwhat appealing, she dragged out a plump crow. Good enough. Settling down she prepared to take a bite of prey unbeknownst to her that her worst enemy(excluding frogs) was about to strike.

"Why pick them when I can do it so much better?"

Now that night had fallen, Magpiepaw couldn't do much other than stop pacing around the clearing. To be completely honest, her paws had never felt so sore, but that wasn't going to stop her. No way, not ever. Gracklepaw was out there, somewhere, and Magpiepaw was going to find him. But for now, she didn't even have the energy to guard camp as she usually did, she just slipped inside the apprentice den and willed herself to sleep. But sleep didn't come, only sharp cramps of hunger.

The small apprentice twisted and turned in her mossbed, low groans echoing from her maw. This. Wasn't. WORKING. Kinda like half the stuff she tried, how fun. No, no, no. She was still The Great Magpiepaw! She was sure she could slip out for a late snack, no one would probably care as she was invisible to all but two cats (one of which disappeared from the face of the earth). Come to think of it, had she even eaten at all since Gracklpaw disappeared? So, after a bit of very genius contemplating, Magpiepaw slunk her two toned body out of the shade and into moonlight. She made sure her pawsteps were soft and light (Kitty Softpaws) so that if anycat was possibly awake, they wouldn't hear her at least.

Once she finally reached her destination, the she-cat picked the closest thing to her paws on the pile. When she looked up, she was more than surprised to see two icy blue eyes staring at her. Magpiepaw's fur bristled and her muscles tensed. But no foreign scent was near, meaning that this was a Shadowclan cat. Wait... QUIET-FREAKING-PAW!? Magpiepaw immediately snarled at the sight of her more primitive clanmate, her hackles raising. "You. What the heck are you doing out at this hour? Doesn't the spectacularly aggravating princess need her beauty sleep? Or did you just skip out on that?"

While Magpiepaw herself wasn't prepared for her own insults, she didn't mind them. Even if she had been practically drowning in misery all day, she hadn't forgotten that yelling at cats she hated made her feel much better. Well, almost. Today was so stupidly horrible and different that her quips hadn't completely lifted her spirits either.

"And before you go asking why I'm here, DON'T. I've had a particularly crummy day and shredding a certain cat to pieces isn't exactly off the list."

Oh. Oh no. The rat had come to torment her, and at this time as well, tch. Quietpaw's tufted ears flattened against her skull at the sight of Magpiepaw. Why the hell was she shouting at her? Couldn't she just have her dinner in peace? Glaring silently at her rival was all she could do as she rambled on with that aggravating voice of hers. As much as she would have liked to just walk away in that moment, it would be cowardly to stand down...also she was hungry.

Princess. The apprentice had not a clue why Magpiepaw insisted on her holding such a mocking title. Her lineage may make her one but she hadn't be raised so spoiled. To be honest she hadn't exactly been raised at all. Lostspark and Darkfall seemed much more intrested in their own lives and her more noisy littermates than paying her some thought. Nothing to mope over though. It was just frustrating. If anything this rat was acting like an entitled brat with all her whining. Did she really think she was the only one who had bad days?

Crow still held beneath a single grey paw, Quiet was growing a bit impatient now...no, a lot impatient. If her belly wasn't so empty and her sense had disappeared, Magpiepaw would've have gotten smacked by now. Alas, she didn't want to deal with a lecture from grandmother. That would be so unconvenient . The only chance she had to get rid of this annoyance was to defeat her with words without retreating or making a fool of herself. Should be easy enough.

"Please, I couldn't care less what you do as long as you leave me alone. But that seems impossible for you, doesn't it?" A scowl and a taunting canter of her head came with the derisive remark she delivered. Quietpaw narrowed her cyan eyes at Magpiepaw "Besides, I'm just here to eat this damn crow. No annoying rat will scare me off, I've seen much more frightening things" Turning away from the irking sight of the black and cream apprentice, she took a bite of her crow. Much better. Now, she better go away or Quietpaw would give her a fright.

(WCO ate my post because I pressed the undo button NOOOOO)
Magpiepaw merely pulled her lips back into a halfhearted snarl. Okay, yeah, the insult of being a rat was quite insulting, but not enough to make Magpiepaw back down. She just straightened herself up (though she wasn't exactly tall...) and pulled a starling from the pile, her claws raking against the rock in a sharp slashing sound. What was it with Quietpaw and assuming everything was about her, huh? Other cats were hungry too! Cats like HER. "I'm sorry, but not EVERYCAT feels the need to flock to your presence. I'm here to eat, like you unfortunately. Maybe I'd be less prissy if you weren't such a thorn in my side." If Magpiepaw had known that Quietpaw would even be out here, she would've just gone hungry for the night, save herself a sore throat. But, of course she hadn't, because Quietpaw blended in with the dark shadows like she belonged in them. If only Magpiepaw would just push her into the void, leave her in the insignificant part of the world for her sanity and everyone else's.

Magpiepaw soon quieted down, but she wasn't completely quiet, that was, admittedly, pretty hard for her. So, as she scarfed down her meal, small chirps and growls chimed from her maw as though she was struggling with the tough meat, but really she was making a performance of herself. It was a habit she gained from her baba, he had a tattered muzzle and often struggled to work his jaw and eat tougher things. After his... Hm. Uh, Magpiepaw imitated his struggles, feeling as though he hadn't... Magpiepaw blinked slowly. Wet. Her paws were wet.

The apprentice didn't make a scene out of herself, she simply stilled her body and gently shook her fur, making sure whatever tears she cried had fallen far from Quietpaw's line of sight. She wasn't crying, she didn't do that anymore, it was IMPOSSIBLE for her to cry, she wasn't crying, she wasn't crying, she wasn't crying, she wasn't.

Quietpaw needed to leave. She wanted her gone. And Magpiepaw wasn't about to be the cat who left first. That was already a close call, and now the two toned apprentice was on a timer. Magpiepaw couldn't fight and the idea was pretty stupid as the both of them would probably get demoted or exiled. Okay. So she'd scare her off. With words. Magpiepaw squared her shoulders and steadied her brown gaze, a wide smile splintering into her expression before it washed away in an abrupt faltering manner.

"Hey, princess, wanna hear a story? Actually, that's not a question, never was one. You're going to hear it."
