"Albatross," Petalrot calls to bug's apprentice, trying to get his attention so they could keep going on his training. That's the good thing about not getting a fresh-faced apprentice, less to teach them. Petalrot could probably have his training done in a moon if the two of them were diligent enough with it, but no need to make promises bug can't guarantee, so better not to say that one out loud. "C'mon," bug beckons with bug's tail, "let's work on some stealth."

Albatrosspaw bounded over to Petalrot at the call of his name, his fur bristled with excitement. What would they work on today? Would bug teach him how to fight? Scare off Twolegs? Who knew!! Maybe he'd become a warrior early if they trained hard and fast! "Yay! Let's go!" Albatrosspaw said, practically bouncing on his paws as Petalrot beckoned him to follow.

Leading the way out of the camp and into the wider territory of ShadowClan's land, Petalrot deliberated on the best way to actually describe how exactly to do 'stealth'. Was there anything more to it than just... applying prey stalking rules to other cats..? Bug didn't think so? That's sort of the way bug had interpreted it in bug's own training, so.... that's probably what bug should do to teach... bug's... apprentice... Stars, that's still so weird that bug has bug's own apprentice.

"Right," Petalrot starts, coming to a standstill where the underbrush is sparse and the pines are tall and tightly packed together, providing a good amount of cover, a slightly awkward, hopefully friendly smile on bug's face. "So. Stealth. Uh," oh, this is going so well already that bug is mentally kicking bugself over bug's incompetence! "The way I learned it, I ended up thinking of it as sort of like... stalking prey almost? But with other cats. And, like, more refined? I guess? Basically, uh, the trees are thick here, so you should have good cover but be mindful of anything on the ground that could alert another cat to your presence. Have a go at it now, I'll close my eyes and cover my ears so I don't know what direction you go off in - don't go far though. I just want to see what you can do without an example." Was that reasonable..? Probably. Either way, bug closes bug's eyes and covers bug's ears as bug said bug would, waiting a few moments for Albatrosspaw to presumably do as bug suggested.

Albatrosspaw followed Petalrot out of camp excitedly. He was going outside again! Hurray! He padded alongside his mentor, his fur prickled with excitment. They stopped at a place with lots of pinetrees. 'Am I gonna learn how to climb? I hope not!' Albatrosspaw thought before Petalrot spoke. He listened to bug and bug's instructions before crouching down to start. He stalked to the side, his belly fluff softly brushing the grass below him, and his paws lightly touching the ground.

Waiting a few moments longer, Petalrot blinked open bug's eyes to find that bug's apprentice had slipped into the tree cover, following the instructions given to stay out of sight. A small smile spread over a ginger maw - someone had actually listened to bug. Petalrot shouldn't be too surprised, it's just, well, usually other cats talk right over or ignore bug. Being listened to was a good change of pace.

Nose to the sky, Petalrot breathes in and focuses on a pine nearby, surely Albatrosspaw hadn't hidden himself so nearby? Glancing around again, bug takes note of the remaining thin layer of snow nearby a different pine, looking for pawprints. It's barely there, but bug spots the vague outline of a toe and pokes bug's head behind the trunk, smiling when bug sees Albatrosspaw.

"Good," Petalrot compliments, "when you're walking through mud or snow, try not to leave even the faintest impressions behind. Why don't you try sneaking up on me now? Stay within the cover of the trees and trail behind me as I walk. Once you're sure I won't know where you emerge; jump out. We'll see how well you can focus on both keeping quiet and keeping hidden."

Albatrosspaw stayed silent, trying to stay still incase anything touched
a loose plant or something. His eyes were fixed on his mentor while bug looked at the ground then to him. Albatrosspaw smiled excitedly as his mentor spoke as he padded out to bug, his pelt bristling happily. He nodded at Petalrot, remembering to never leave impressions that he was there. "Alright!!" Albatrosspaw answered, quickly padding into the shadows, waiting for bug to start walking.

Pausing for a moment to allow the apprentice to disappear into the trees, Petalrot took a moment to examine the surroundings. Once bug was sure Albatrosspaw was sufficiently hidden, bug began to walk in a random direction, keeping bug's ears pricked for any noise of Albatross slinking after bug.

As bug walks, bug tries to note all the places in the tree cover a cat could hide. There's not a whole lot of open area within ShadowClan's territory, which is especially helpful in the case of stalking and ambush techniques. "Once you think you're hidden," bug calls out, "and you don't think I'd know where you are, why don't you see if you can pounce out at me? We'll call it... rudimentary ambush practice."

[ in my next post, i'll roll 2 contesting dice, one will be petal's detection abilities and one will be for just how well albatross is hiding - if petal rolls lower then him, petal wont notice him !! you dont have to worry abt rolling anything if you don't want to, though, i just like to add the flavor of it w/ my charas ^^ ]
