Yellowpaw woke up to a slightly cool breeze. Almost instantaneously, he decided that he would wait, like, half a day to get up. He didn't want to wake up to get blasted in the face with ice or something. Although, it was pretty loud outside, so he probably wouldn't get much sleep.
Yellowpaw opened his eyes to see some apprentice getting called for an assessment. That's be him. Soon enough. Even if he wasn't he'd still be free to do whatever he wanted. Names meant nothing. Just something to be able to find someone easily with. Which is why He never remembered them.
He stretched as he got up, then heading outside the apprentice den. It was later than he expected. Let's hope I didn't have any training today. He couldn't remember anything that was specific for that day, but he didn't feel like doing nothing. In fact, he wanted to go into Thunderclan camp and massacre them. It seemed that wasn't an option at the moment, though.
Yellowpaw wanted to go ask another apprentice to spar, but, by educated guess, he might run in to a hyper fun-sized she-cat of which he could somehow remember the name of.
Oh, sparring. He remembered training with Hawkbite during a group training thing. He also remembered saying something about it being continued later. Guess he'd go look for him, before he forgot he said anything.
After trekking around camp and finding nothing, Yellowpaw decided to head out. There was probably a patrol he was supposed to go on or something. This was taking a while.
Finally, there he was! Now he could finish that training. He happened to be at a swamp. How utterly inconvenient. "Remember that training from the event?" He said, approaching Hawkbite.

The apprentice was bold to leave camp on his own, but Hawkbite was aware that he was pretty much ready to be a warrior.
The question also piqued his interest. Yellowpaw never seemed to disappoint in that aspect. "What about it?" he inquired.

"Yes, the one where I hit your nose." He said, refusing to include the part before that. Though it was interesting being airborne. It probably wouldn't be used in battle, though. "I remember saying I wanted to continue that, so if you're available to do it now, that would be nice." Yellowpaw raised his paw so he could lick some of the mud out of it.
He expected a yes, because he was Yellowpaw, and Hawkbite either seemed to enjoy training apprentices or was cursed to do it whenever requested. Personally, he didn't care. Pretty soon there, apprentices would be asking Yellowpaw for training and probably denied.

He couldn't deny that he was a bit impressed by the younger feline for pulling off that move, despite it not being a standard battle move. Combat was about refining and evolving your style, though, so he couldn't be mad at that.
The Commander thought for a moment longer before his humming stopped and he flicked his tail. He had a better idea. "You've completed all your training, correct?" Hawkbite would pause to give him time to answer. "How about we do your assessment now. We can retry this spar we had and the only requirement is that you win."
Hawkbite usually ran the assessments with the requirement being to flee or win but demonstrate decent skill. He wanted to challenge Yellowpaw, though. His ego matched that of Shadefrosts and he didn't want Yellowpaw ending up in the same position as the former warrior. The humming noise was a bit annoying. Yellowpaw didn't understand why it needed to exist. "Can you not," He mumbled quietly.
Finally, Hawkbite stopped making that hideous noise. Then, he asked a question that was a little interesting. However, it felt like it was rhetorical, so he didn't answer. He had completed most of his training- all that was left was his- 'assessment.'
Oh, hell yeah! It was his time to become a warrior! No doubt about it, he would win. He had a few tricks up his sleeve at this point, as well as a few stories of how they usually went. He knew exactly what to do.
"That's an odd lack of rules. I won't question, though," From the stories other apprentices told him, there was another one or two he couldn't put his finger on. However, he didn't care. You could see the excitement in his eyes as he tensed.
First, he had to analyze his opponent in a second's time. Just like the last time he was in battle, but this time, he was quicker. Anyway, back to Hawkbite. He seemed to be waiting for Yellowpaw to do something. He could use that.
Next, he'd move. He looked around and darted into the shadows. He ran around and Emerged from the shadows cast by trees and tried to leap onto Hawkbite, and would grapple him if he succeeded. It was an old favorite move.

Hawkbite chose to ignore the annoyed comment. Had it been another feline, perhaps he might've said something or smacked them, but he excused Yellowpaw. One day the tom would learn the hard way to watch his mouth. The Commander was also one that tended to be arrogant, but he didn't run his mouth like some of his clan mates.
Unfortunately for Yellowpaw, the scenery around him wasn't in his favor. Hawkbite could hear the paws softly squishing into the swampy ground as he moved through the shadows. Sure, he couldn't see the apprentice, but what was the point of hiding like that if you were only going to be heard?
So, as Yellowpaw emerged from the shadows with outstretched paws, Hawkbite had silently timed the attack out and whipped around to meet those paws. His own would attempt wrapping around Yellowpaw's shoulders and Hawkbite would fall backwards, throwing Yellowpaw over his head so they both hit the ground. The hopes was to leave Yellowpaw winded on the ground for a moment while Hawkbite got back up onto his paws.
However, if the move he pulled wasn't successful, Hawkbite would end up on the ground either way, attempting to get back up before the apprentice could make their next move.

Okay, so Yellowpaw might have been to eager to use a classic move. He crashed into the ground, but he didn't let that stop him as he rolled for a bit in a pile of thick mud that he landed it. He hoped it would work as a kind of armor, since he was relatively weak. [roll= 18] He lept to his feet despite being a little tired, determined to win.
It looks like his opponent had gotten up at the same time he did. Rats. At least he had his Mud. Ew. He'd get it out of his fur later, hopefully before it got crusty. Back to the battle.
He had to do something quickly. Nothing specifically fitted the situation, but he could try for a regular move, but he wouldn't risk it, considering his mud 'move' was new. He didn't want to make a mistake. That could ruin his assessment.
Well, maybe he could. You'd expect Yellowpaw to do something unordinary, so maybe it would be most surprising to do something regular.
He charged at the warrior and aimed to hit his side as hard as he could, which might not be that strong but it was something.

He searched for any signs of a last-minute maneuver, but by the time he realized there wouldn't be one, Hawkbite felt a slam against his side. He huffed a little, although was able to withstand the hit. His eyes narrowed and Hawkbite lurched forward, his teeth aiming to clamp onto the apprenitce's shoulders.
There was a reason he earned the name -bite. The Commander owned fangs that were longer than the typical warrior, so his bite wasn't pleasant. Fortunately for Yellowpaw, Hawkbite was merciful on the apprentice. He didn't aim to pierce flesh, but just bite enough to grab a hold of him so he could attempt wrapping his legs around him. Oh, how disappointing. Yellowpaw's attack didn't work as he wanted. Not even a stumble. This was why he didn't go for normal moves. The tall tom frowned as he prepared to dart backwards to plan his next move when Hawkbite tried to bite him.
What in the...? "What the hell?" He said, more intrigued than his usual insulting tone. Yellowpaw didn't move before Hawkbite's teeth hit his fur, but wait! [roll in use] it had hit a mud spot, so he was able to slip away right on time. He backed up and charged at Hawkbite with all his strength to head-butt him, aiming to knock him over and pin him. He was getting quite bored of the fight.

Hawkbite could gag on the flavor of the mud in his mouth, but he held it together and simply spat it out. Unfortunately, in those moments of recovery, Yellowpaw decided to slam his head into his side again. Once more, a huff escaped him, but Hawkbite felt his paws slip on the mud below him.
Oh no.
The Commander lost his step, slipping fully into the mud around them. This was the downside to this terrain. He'd need to practice more here, apparently. Hawkbite fully hit the ground, a grimace on his face as he felt the mushy texture cover him. His green eyes would shoot upwards at Yellowpaw, watching what he'd do next while he attempted to get back to his paws.
