Fluffy was not having a good week. Or month. Or anything at all. In fact, this was the worst month within his entire life. He's tired, but he keeps moving his paws. No way was he going back home, he was going as far away as possible!

His nose sniffs the air, searching for Midnight's scent. It was weaker than before, and stale. Fluffy stops, unsure where to go next, tears glistening in his pretty round eyes, about to cry with frustration and fear.

Mumble stalked through the undergrowth, their stride long yet quiet. They were searching for prey, and followed any scent they could latch onto. Upon smelling another cat, however, Mumble paused. They were used to getting chased off, it happened all the time, yet curiosity was getting the best of them this day. Mumble stalked over, sitting in the brush as they watched the frustrated cat. Mumble, without realizing, stared at him, golden eyes wide as their pupils flicked around, observing this cat.

Fluffy's in the middle of crying when he sees a figure appear in the undergrowth. His ears perk up. Was that Midnight?

"Midnight! I finally escaped from the Housefolk and the Cutter's!" He calls out happily, "It's so nice to see you... again..." Fluffy's voice trails off. "You...you're not Midnight. He meows, voice shaking. "Are you going to eat me?" His ears lie flat on his head, showing how scared he is.

Mumble tilted their head at the small cat. "Who's midnight?... I'm definitely not them..." Mumble said quietly. "And why would I eat you? That would be cannibalism!" They said, standing up with their fur a bit fluffed.

"Really?" Fluffy's expression brightens, and he completely relaxes his guard. This cat wasn't going to eat him? Then maybe they could become friends! "I'm Fluffy, nice to meet you!" He purrs happily, his previous sadness forgotten.

He's bouncing around Mumble, sniffing the air. It smells oddly sweet.

Mumble steps back, a bit shocked by the sudden changes in this cat's mood. Mumble stalks around the cat, what a sweet smell... A change compared to their sickly, foresty scent. "Erm, Mumble..." They responded, observing this cat. The things he said sure were confusing.

"You're Mumble, I'm Fluffy, so let's be friends!" Fluffy has completely forgotten any fear he felt earlier, instead he's bouncing around like the little kit he is. He smells of milk and kittypet.

One misstep, and Fluffy accidently stumbles into a patch of sweet smelling grass. "Mumble, let's play together!" Fluffy chirps, rolling around. From the looks of it, it's part of an abandoned Twoleg garden that has become overgrown. "It's catmint!"

Mumble was still in shock from the sudden turn of emotions, and looked around cautiously. Was this some kind of trap?... Ambush?.. No. This was another young cat, only a bit younger than themselves. Why should they worry about a little kit?
Eventually, their own playfulness caught up to them, their previous worry also seeming to fade. Mumble crouched down before leaping, rolling into the garden right besides Fluffy.
They laughed, rolling around with Fluffy in the plants.

There was no going back- whether Mumble liked it or not, they were officially Fluffy's friend now.

Fluffy gigges and throws a tuft of grass towards Mumble. His little nose twitches as he then starts to playfully run away, as if he's playung hide and seek with the other cat.

Mumble laughed alongside the cat, jumping a bit as a bundle of grass got flung at them. They didn't mind having a friend, it was nice. Mumble playfully bounced after the cat, chasing him to his hiding spot and leaping at them, paws outstretched to try and playfully tackle him.
