Battling in the rain [P]
Rainpaw
He/They
tw: blood, death, grief
down, down, down
Rainpaw's body felt smaller. And... he could see out of both eyes. He knew what this was. He had kept dreaming about those moments since they happened, and he had never escaped what they brought with him. But he had to let it play out. The more he meddled with his dreams, the more pain it reminded him of. He felt his kithood body push itself upwards. He was now watching his tiny kitten self from a distance. Rain was standing on a boulder as he watched his former self paddling afloat. It pained him to watch, but his head was frozen, unable to look away.
He watched as the first piece of debris hit, making way for something more terrible. He closed his eyes and heard it. "SQUEAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKKKKK," the apprentice turned his head to face his former self struggling to break free. Once the kit was free, all that was left of their right eye was blood, oozing out of where his eye used to be. Rainpaw reached his paw to feel the scars he bared on his face. It pained him to look at. It was a reminder of terrible things. He went from a once carefree kitten to a scarred apprentice. Scary. Ugly. Alone.
He knew what would come next, and this part hurt him the most. He watched his kitten self, now like him, looking at the crowd of warriors. He saw Gingerstar speaking, and saw the kit let out a heartbreaking cry. But what words were uttered to make the tiny kitten so upset?
"Beanstar is dead."
Tears streamed out of the apprentice's one eye as he awoke in his nest. He panted before looking out of the den. It was dark, maybe a bit past moonhigh. The tabby crept out of the den and looked around the clearing. Empty. They remembered the name of the cat who killed the only one that rainkit cared about.
Bumblestar.
Just thinking her name made him growl. Rainpaw looked around the clearing before gathering some dirt into a pile. It was hard, and wasn't that big, but it would do. He imagined it as bumblestar. Well he didn't really know what she looked like, but it didn't matter. Rainpaw took a deep breath before launching himself off of his hind legs. His claws unsheathed, he flew past the dirt pile, fur grazing it. He panted before trying it again. And again. And again.
Rainpaw's gray-blue tabby pelt was stained a tan brown. They growled before flinging themself at the pile, bringing his claws down before stopping. He groaned before kicking the dirt and sitting himself down. He will never be able to get his revenge at this rate. Maybe he should just... Give up.

Re: Battling in the rain [P]
Dusklion
She/her | 25 moons | RiverClan Warrior
[ Shadow Fiend • Go with the Flow • Beefed Up T3 ] It was the repetitive sound of a cat hitting the ground that made Dusklion lift her head from where she lay in her nest. Having decided to take a break from guard duty, the dark tabby yawned and stretched before padding out into the clearing. It was rather empty, save for the likely source of the repetitive cat-to-ground sound. She watched silently as Rainpaw continued to hurtle himself over and over at... well, okay it wasn't the best dirt pile, but she could understand its use.
[shadow fiend active] At first she was content to sit in the shadows of camp, unseen to any prying eyes and watch the young tom. But after a bit his energy seemed to lull, until it squealed to a stop altogether as he sat down. She waited a moment, then another, before slipping out from the shadows [shadow fiend inactive] and making her way over.
"Rough night, kid?" she asked as she neared him, taking up the spot next to him and glancing over at the mostly worn down dirt pile. It had taken quite the beating, especially if the dirt smudges on Rainpaw's pelt were any indication.

Rainpaw
He/They - 12 Moons
The tabby thought he was alone, but apparently that was not the case. He jumped slightly once Dustlion emerged from the shadows before nodding his head. "I should be nearing my assesment, like my friends, but all I have learned is how to be a burden," he whispered, shuffling his paws. "Um, Maybe you could teach me? I-I don't want to bother furb-I mean f-Birdsnow more than she needs."

Dusklion

[ Shadow Fiend • Go with the Flow • Beefed Up T3 ] That was right, Rainpaw was on the older side of apprentices wasn't he? Dusklion grinned and nodded enthusiastically. "I can certainly help! I assume you know the basic's 'n all that, yeah?" Getting to her paws she arched her back in a stretch, wanting to warm them up a little before teaching. The camp was still rather calm and quiet, but if they woke others up by practicing? Well, they could just deal with it. "'N I don't think you're a burden. Burdens don't do much to help there Clan, 'n from what I've seen you've put in quite a bit of effort." She could think of a few burdens off the top of her head, but it would be no use bringing them up now considering they were either long since missing or dead.

Rainpaw
He/They - 12 Moons
24/100
The tabby smiled, Dusklion was going to teach him to fight! "I assume you know the basic's 'n all that, yeah?" Oh dear. Four moons of training and at twelve moons, all he knew how to do was... nothing. He just knows to kick and claw. "Um, actually, I don't really, um, know anything about fighting," he said, very embarrassed that he never learned even the basics of fighting. Whatever Dusklion thought he was doing with the dirt pile, it wasn't basic moves. Just him lunging and missing because of his terrible sight [aka one eye]. If he wanted to become an apprentice at a regular time, and NOT late like his mentor, than he really needed to focus on the next steps.

Dusklion
She/her | 25 moons | RiverClan Warrior
[ Shadow Fiend • Go with the Flow • Beefed Up T3 • Rapid Recovery ] ...Nothing? He knew nothing about fighting? Dusklion frowned, but her anger wasn't for him - it was for whatever mentors he'd had in his life who had neglected his training. It was difficult to stifle the low growl, and the dark tabby shook her head instead as she squared herself up with the dirt-dummy. "Well, let's get right to it, yeah?" With a nod and a grin, she glanced back at the pile of dirt. "First basic move; the downward slash. You take your front paw-" she lifted her own for example, keeping her claws sheathed, "'N then you bring it down hard on your opponent. Either on the top of their head - most likely to stun 'em - or you can change it up and swing sideways. Really, just usin' your front claw to bat them back a ways. Bonus points if you're able to score some gouges that'll bleed 'n sting to distract them." Nodding with her head she indicated to the dirt-dummy she had just smacked several times, once or twice from the top, and then from the sides. "Give it a try, 'n then we can move on to the rest of the basics."
