It was quite a disgusting morning. Cold winds blew through the cracks of the den, small snowflakes gathering inside of their hideout. Frosty let out a quiet groan, not wanting to get up from his nest. His whole body was shivering. Why did leafbare even have to exist? Couldn't it be warm, nice greenleaf the whole year? He looked around, noticing snow was starting to really pile up. They couldn't let that happen. His eyes were dull, exhaustion from all the work they needed to do really getting to him.

Why did their mother need to dump them? Especially with so many younger siblings to take care of? It's not like they knew much except for basic hunting, so why were they expected to be able to keep themselves alive, along with four younger siblings? It was all questionable to the young tomcat, but he knew he shouldn't get sidetracked. Slowly, he got up from his warm nest, stretching his body and letting out a yawn. He decided not to wake anyone up just yet, moving over to the snow pile and shoving it outside of their small den. As he stood at the exit, cold winds blew into his face, snow gathering in his ears. He quickly finished his job and rushed back to his nest, wondering what they could do today.

It's not like going out in this weather was enjoyable, but if they wanted to survive, they needed food. Frosty wondered if it would be simpler to just go with his siblings that were his age, but he supposed the younger ones also needed some experience. Only thing he could do was hunting, but he wasn't a master at that, either. Of course it was good to be able to catch basic prey, but he knew he'd struggle with anything larger than a mouse, a vole or a thrush. He really hoped they would be able to learn that, maybe through some teamwork and group efforts.

His one green and one yellow eye scanned the den, landing on each one of the siblings. Then, his gaze wandered back to the snowy territory. The moon was still visible, though barely, and clouds covered most of the sky. Frosty could see faint colors poking through the white and blue sky, which meant the sun was only just rising. Oh well – better too early than too late. The storm wasn't too bad right now compared to the other days. Not that it wasn't cold or windy, but the wind was blowing less than a few minutes ago when he'd removed the snow from their den, so they needed to seize the chance before it got worse again.

"Wake up, sleepyheads!" he called, forcing himself to grin a little. If he was a beacon of eagerness for his siblings – even though he had zero motivation to go out himself, so it was just pretending – maybe they'd follow his lead. "Let's go.. hunting! I'm hungry."

Tiny was fast asleep. That is, until Frosty told them it was time to wake up. Then she wasn't asleep anymore. Getting to her feet, the tiny one moon old kit yelled I'm up with a smile on her face. Yes, Mommy had abandoned them and she was shivering cause it was cold but she could still be happy right? She couldn't think of any reasons she couldn't be happy. Anyways, she was sure that hunting would be fun even thought it would probably make her tired. A lot of things made her tired and they usually didn't make her siblings tired. Tiny didn't know why that was. @celeste @poppy. @staurn @Estelle @Nixey @Ladiebugg

Airy slowly blinked her eyes open, looking at Frosty.

'Hunting?'

The moon old kit tilted her head before getting up, stretching.

Early mornings were the worst – except when she decided to get up early. But that, clearly, wasn’t the case today. Not one bit. Sapphire still had trouble understanding what happened to mother and father – first mother left after barely a goodbye – merely stating they’d be staying with father – but she hadn’t seen him in a while either. It seemed her siblings had accepted that neither parent would be coming back anytime soon, Athy liked to keep up hope. She liked to think they were probably just out wandering and would come back sooner or later! And until then, it was her big siblings who were in charge.

This particular morning, one of said older siblings had decided to wake her and her moon-old counter parts. But Sapphy didn’t want to wake up just yet, turning back around with a loud grumble.
“But it’s so earlyyyyyy….”
And cold! Especially ever since mother and father left, she had been so cold, shivering day and night, much like her sister Tiny, the only one from her litter she could accept might’ve been just a minute younger.

“Do we haaaaaave to go, Frosty?”
She asked, finally turning around with pleading eyes.
“It’s so cold…”
She pouted, the little dilute calico shivering in place for a few moments. And yet, both her other siblings had complied without issue. She pondered this a few seconds, hiding her face within fur and paws before she let out a loooong sigh.
“Will you carry me?”
The moon old finally asked, pulling her best pleading eyes.
