Darkclaw padded along the camp. Boy was she bored. There was nobody out this early, and she was just taking a walk for fresh air. Maybe she would find someone out here?

Morningpaw

This was a new record for him in terms of waking up early, and it doesn’t matter if it was because of a nightmare that violently shook him awake! It still counts!! So here Morningpaw was, stretching his legs out in his nest as he blinked sleep from his eyes. What would be on the agenda for today? Training. Morningpaw was getting close to having his assessment and therefore being a warrior!! So close! He stepped out into the clearing and spotted his victim. Training. What would he need to learn still though? Maybe a hunting patrol? He hasn’t had one of those yet, it wasn’t too bad an idea. “Hey. You! Let’s go out on a hunting patrol?” Okay, maybe he could take care to being a bit nicer and less rude but who was he kidding? Morningpaw was a rude cat, the terms go paw and paw! Ever heard of being a grumpy morning cat? Well Morningpaw was so much of one it was just about what he was named after. Stars. He hated his name.

Startled, Darkclaw padded over to the 'paw. Um. Ok sure! She mewed, her amber eyes shining in the morning light. Why are you up so early?

The apprentice stared up at the warrior with an unimpressed gaze. Then with a slight huff, the orange and black feline turned and started his way towards the camp exit, “Why does that matter? I’m awake and we are going on a patrol so no need for unnecessary questions.” There was no way in hell that Morningpaw was going to share any details about his nightmares to a warrior he only met and didn’t even really know the name of. He instead, went of the hunting lesson he had received from that orange warrior not too long ago. Morningpaw has practiced his crouch since then so hopefully he was successful with this patrol. “Any tips for hunting?”

Darkclaw was shocked by the apprentice's reaction, but shook out her legs and said, Show me what you've got. She led them towards the forest.

Why was it that all of his clan mates must be so utterly daft? You ask them for some hunting tips and they ignore you! You ask for some battling lessons and they go 'what do you want?' like you didn't just say it literally five seconds ago. Honestly it was a nightmare, how does Bumblestar tolerate such foolishness on there regular. It was so annoying. Though regardless he simply rolled his eyes at Darkclaw before stopping in a random clearing in the forest that the warrior led them to. The apprentice shot one last, unreadable look, at the warrior before dropping down into a crouch and closing his eyes and opening his jaw to try and catch and focus on any scents that may be in the area.

Eventually, there was something, though only after some tail lengths of walking around slowly here and there and there and here. But he found something, and that something was some sort of mouse... or maybe a vole? He wasn't actually that sure, but he knew it was alive and that meant it was prey and that's what matters. Throwing a flick of his tail in the vague direction of where he thought the warrior was to signal a found prey and to be quiet before padding out. He squinted his eyes as he slowly made his way in the direction of the prey, making sure that the wind was blowing into his face versus giving his scent out immediately startling the creature.

Come on, Morningpaw! Can't miss your first prey of the day... It's a bad luck omen or something like that. There! Under a nearby berry bush of sorts, was the nibbling form of a mouse... actually two mice. One was peeping from under a tree root nearby. Morningpaw stopped moving and watched carefully. The tree root mouse suddenly darted forward and tackled the other mouse. Huh, what ensued was a mouse fight... well uhhhh... guess that's his cue? The apprentice had never seen anything like that before so it was odd, but he figured with how distracted they were with each other he may be able to get both the mice in one go which would be mighty impressive.

He minutely adjusted his stance, the fighting mice unaware of the predator just moments away... now! Morning paw leapt forward, just like he had when out with Orange Guy learning hunting for the first time. As he expected, the mice were startled but stunned as they were so involved with each other they had no idea he was even there until he had long slammed a paw on both little bodies. He easily killed then both and then grabbed the mice by the tail and padded back to the warrior with a puffed up chest and a proud look on his face.

Darkclaw was impressed. She rubbed her eyes and nodded in approval. Nice catch! She mewed.

"Right. Thanks." Gratitude was also something Morningpaw wasn't the best at and he took a moment to hide his mice rather than focus on the embarrassment raising up in his chest at the awkward words. Hopefully Darkclaw got to do some hunting and forget that little moment. Though his green eyes lifted up and peered into the forest again and he looked around at the space. "You gonna get anything? I'm going to try once more and then bring home the catches I have then. Don't want to be out here too long, less my mentor calls me out and I am out of camp." He didn't want to get on Risingstorm's bad side so soon, though he had no idea how the warrior worked in the slightest.

Aware of the akwardness, Darkclaw nodded. Yeah... We should hurry. She crouched down and tasted the air.
