A Step Away [P]
| Lightningstorm |
23 Moons - WindClan Medicine Cat
Flock Together [Tier 3] - Active | Mind Reader - Active | Dreamwalker - Inactive | Katty Krueger - Inactive
Lightningstorm lay in her nest, lapis hues staring at the two pale, white lilies, orange seeping from their center outwards as black spots freckled the petals. Thick, green pistils standing out prettily against the bold colors. In truth, the herbalist had never seen a flower like this. Twolegplace must have an abundance of strange blooms, come to think of it. So many herbs that were near impossible to find in WindClan territory were so readily available there. And yet a lily like this she had never seen before, only barely recognizing it for the flower she knew it to be.
Lily. The name of the flower itself gave her such conflicting emotions. The molly wasn't sure why. Such a beautiful flower should not make her feel sorrow. Anger. Pain. Heartbreak. It was... confusing to say the least.
She felt a little guilty, truth be told. Snowybreeze had seemed so happy when he'd brought these in. Wanting her to share them with someone special. But... it wasn't exactly like she had anyone special. Not really. Lightningstorm was flirtatious. She knew as much. But outside of the pretty, ginger tabby that took care for about half the nursery residents, she never really meant anything by her words. She hadn't the time. Nor the memories. She was sure if she'd had someone special they would have come to her in time... but the hopes for anyone to ever step forward and claim any sort of relationship between them was long gone. Her memories had abandoned her too long ago now. It was clear that aside of her job nothing much had kept her tied to WindClan before the incident. She could infer as much.
And yet even as she considered this, the image of that pretty, pale tabby kept popping up in her mind, making her heart beat faster as a goofy grin crossed her maw. She did have two flowers. It would be so mean of her to not take Snowybreeze's kindness and spread it forward. Besides, Firestorm always seemed to enjoy her company. Perhaps not at first... but she certainly had grown on the queen. She was sure of it.
Not one to beat around the bush or be prone to bouts of shyness, Lightningstorm got up, placing one lily carefully behind her ear, attaching it with just the smallest bit of cobweb as she did her tail feather. One swift peak into the stream that lazily flowed through her den making it clear she had properly accessorized herself, the medicine cat grabbed the other lily, making her way through the tunnels of her home. For once, she was quite grateful for their ample width. The last thing she needed was to have her coat encrusted with dirt on her way to see the nursery's prettiest molly. For a moment, she paused, debating whether she should tell Rabbitpaw where she was going before she thought better of it.
The tom and her were not close. He had needed his space shortly after becoming her apprentice and had seemingly never quite grown accustomed to her. Apprentice and mentor they might be, but they weren't friends. The last thing she needed was to make him feel awkward by telling him she was off to woo Firestorm, and to not wait up. Despite herself, she giggled at this thought, finding what little humor there was to be found as delicate paws made their way to the nursery, hoping to find the she-cat there.

| I believe I had promised a Lightningstorm post once I got Snowybreeze to bring the flowers and drop the heavy hint that she should totally get one for Firestorm? |

Truth be told, Firestorm wasn’t feeling all that great lately. The kits were growing up just fien for the most part, but that didn’t change the fact that it felt as though she were missing something. Taking on the task of watching over her adopted mothers kits in addition to those of her own, made her realize just how alone she truly was. Sure, she had a few friends, and she definitely had help, but Bravebird was gone. Berryfrost too was gone, and then the cat she wanted to share this endeavor with the most was… unaware of things.
That cat in question was Lightningstorm of course. Watching the calico healer from a distance just wasn’t satisfying enough for her. She wished to once more share a nest with the pretty she-cat, to raise their kits together, really, she’d be satisfied with anything more than what she had at the moment.
It was a selfish and greedy desire, but she couldn’t help but think that maybe she hadn’t made the right choice when it came to whether or not she should tell Spots about their previous connection. Spots had been the light of her life, and in some way she’d like to think that perhaps the medicine cat felt the same. However, Lightningstomr seemed so much happier now, no longer plagued by nightmares (to her knowledge) and no longer looking at the rest of the clan as if they would turn on her at any moment. She didn’t want to ruin that, or more like she couldn’t ruin that. As much as it pained her to say nothing, to keep the truth hidden from her beloved, Spots’ wellbeing came first and foremost. As much as it pained her to see the way she seemingly flirted with others, or the jealousy she felt bubbling within her heart when Spots spent too much time with someone else, she just… couldn’t take that step to close the distance. Every time she got the urge to do so, the words of the cats who had been in charge of her resurrection would echo in the depths of her mind and make her feel self-concious.
This. Was. The. Worst.
Sighing, she went about grooming her fur. With the seasons beginning to change, her coat was beginning to grow in length, which meant there was more tangles and a lot more work to deal with. It was a pain in the rear-end truthfully. After she deemed herself somewhat presentable, she made her way out of the nursery and squinted against the change in lighting. When her eyes finally adjusted, what she saw made her stop right in her tracks.
Before her stood Lightningstorm, and she looked stunning. Well, Firestorm always thought that the clan’s medicine cat always looked perfect, but today? Today was different. Through some magical means, the spotted she-cat had a white and yellow flower held behind her ear. As much as she wanted to focus on that, as her gaze quickly traveled the course of her face, she noticed that Spots was holding a similar flower within her jaws as well. Where was she goin– wait, she’s getting closer. Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh–
”H-hi,” Firestorm mewed in greeting, ducking her head in sudden embarrassment. Okay, she panicked a little. Honestly, it was pathetic that the future leader of the clan was so awestruck by her (former?) mate that she couldn’t even form a coherent sentence, but well… Come on! Spots was just gorgeous! It wasn’t fair! Stars above this was so awkward!
[ @ Alchemist Kitsune AHHHH IM SORRY FOR HOW LATE THIS IS – I hadn’t realized so much time passed! Also my apologies, I started rambling at the beginning and then refused to edit it]
