The sun was high in the sky, leaving a comfortable warmth on the tabby’s back as he looked over the clan. Things had been fairly quiet as of late; not much trouble with other clans, though not much activity within the clan itself either. It didn’t specifically bother the cat; it was just… Strange, seeing his clan so awfully calm when usually it was filled with loudmouths who couldn’t stop screaming and running about. It was better than constant death and chaos, but… Eh.

So, it was time. Gingerfrost got off his hide and positioned himself in the centre of the clearing. He’d been planning this for a while now, and hoped it might help some of his fellow clanmates wake up from their winter-nap, much like he was starting to. Some fun activity might do the clan well, he had decided, and that’s why he was doing this at the detriment of his own rest; luckily, the river was calm today, so it was the perfect moment.

“RiverClan!”
He called, not quite caring if he woke anyone up. That was the point, after all.
“With the weather warming up, it seems like a good time for a simple swimming competition. Anyone wanting to participate – or just watch – follow me and line up by the river.”
With that said he waited a few moments, before heading to the river.

How this will work:

Ten checkpoints have been set along the river. A dice roll will determine whether your cat passes the checkpoint or not.

Even numbers: your cat passes the checkpoint!
Odd numbers: your cat remains stuck in place.

20: your cat passes two checkpoints!
0: your cat goes back to the previous checkpoint.

The first to arrive at the last (10th) checkpoint will be declared the winner!

This is open to competitors and watchers!

Apprentices: this will count towards your training requirements!

Briarpaw padded over sullenly, a slightly sour look on her face. Okay. She'd be willing to lose herself to the waters for a little while. And kick some ass, hopefully.

Briarfang padded forwards interest showing in his eyes it was too bad that Mistfire couldn't join him she loved swimming but she was in the nursery and going to to give birth to their kits soon so he'd have to do it by himself.

The chubby tabby padded over to the clearing: He wasn't really feeling the 'spirit' to get up and was still a lil bit cranky I wonder what Gingerfrost is yowling about he thought with a heavy amount of sarcasm as if he was actually saying it like a worn out elder who has just lived since the great RussetStar became leader(Who knew a cat could feel so old so fast).

A swim race huh? Sounded interesting, but there was no way Marigoldleap was getting her fur wet. It still made her feel odd, so she tried her best to avoid getting wet at all costs. She'd come to watch, but not participate. She just wanted to be surrounded by her clanmates.

Beansprout tilted his head curiously. A swimming event, huh? This would be great to get the Clan moving and testing their skills. The siamese offered a smile toward Gingerfrost, happy that the deputy was taking initiative. Though he had harbored feelings of resentment toward the deputy before, Beansprout now more than ever felt happy to have Gingerfrost by his side. perhaps all he needed was a wake-up call, for it seemed he was doing all he could now.

With a soft purr, he approached and asked Gingerfrost, "I hope you don't mind if I join in? I could probably just watch and make sure nothing goes awry; an extra eye never hurt, right?" Something about the idea of swimming made Beansprout anxious, for some reason. So, as much as his competitive side wanted to participate, Beansprout decided it would be for the best if he just watched.

She heard the call of her deputy and basically teleported from her seat on a rock… Even though she was basically a walking bundle of fluff, but even so, she still moved with remarkable speed… PebbleSplash had an idea to make this fun for everyone… Fixing her fur, she padded over to GingerFrost with a grin… The mollie had just caught him when he was talking with BeanSprout…

BeanSprout…? BeanStar…? Labels weren’t that important right now… “Bean… Sprout…?” Way to make it awkward PebbleSplash…! Dipping her head to her leader, she turns to face GingerFrost, Her deputy… “GingerFrost, I was wondering if I could be an announcer? Simply just to keep the energy up…” a soft purr rumbled in her throat… Thinking about it now, however, it may be boring if it was just her and her own running commentary…

A brilliant idea strikes her as her gaze shifts to BeanSprout. “Hey, you have a good announcer-like voice. How about you and I host this thing?”

Wormbite padded towards Gingerfrost and then followed after. He wouldn't be trying to win against the apprentices - but it would be nice to have a bit of a race with the older warriors. Additionally, useful to be on guard in case anything did go wrong; he would already be in the water.

Falconpaw twisted her head to watch the clan gathering around Gingerfrost for a competition. For a moment, she was about to ignore the call because it was only for apprentices and above. Then, with jolt of of excitement, she remembered that she was an apprentice now! She could do these kind of things! Immediantly, Falconpaw bounded towards her clan mates, skidding to a halt moments before crashing into the deputy. “I’ll join!” She mewed in excitement.
