✧.* Riverwhisper sighed. He was upset. He hadn't seen his mate since the battle and he knew he'd never get to be a father. Why had he tried to attack Dawnstar of all cats? He should have known he'd die. He should have known. Taking a deep breath, he pulled swanberry into a dream, waiting to see when she would respond.

(officially de-aging swan by a moon :3)
Sleep. It seemed to be all she could do as of late. The moon had begun rising in the inky sky, calling her eyelids to flutter and her paws to slow with the promise of sleep. Once she ducked inside the warriors den, she felt her claws catching on loose moss. A low growl escaped her parched throat before she settled down and twisted and turned in the comfort of her mossbed.
She turned to face the entrance of her enclosure, blinking slowly at the conversing cats. Even as the buzzing of their mews died down, she could still hear their paws pads thud against the ground. What a day... What wasted space. At least a good amount of cats were better off than she was, and reasonably so. Starclan hated her, so she'd hate them right back. She wasn't sure when or why her ancestors had grown so antagonistic, but they had. And they were coming for her at all sides.
One thing. Why couldn't they let her keep one good thing? She had somecat, a really amazing somecat, and well, just look at what happened to that. The queen wrinkled her nose before turning away, allowing her eyes to slip into enteral black.
****
Dreaming. She was dreaming? Usually no dreams came to her, just darkness before she awoke to the light streaming into the warriors den. But this time was different. Swanberry was still laying on the ground, yet the temporary camp for Riverclan was no more. No rock beneath her paws, just a long and large meadow with long stems of grass. It felt... Weird, to have grass underneath her paws again. Not only that, but the grass was starry and a light purple-ish blue. The sky was light and full of clouds. Huh...
Swanberry rose to her paws, shaking herself carefully to rid her fur of grass but not her accessory's. She blinked away the breeze and looked around. Was she... Was she dead? In Starclan? Jeez. What a surprise. With how much they hated her she thought going to the Darkforest was the destination for her. Who could've possibly...? Riverwhisper. She knew for a fact that he would've fought tooth and claw for her to join the ranks of Starclan with him.
The queen looked at her own paws. They weren't starry by any means, completely normal actually... So she was alive? Okay, okay, so she was dreaming, but why? She took a few steps farther into the meadow, padding with a level of discomfort as grass slid between her legs and through her fur. Then a figure, a starry one at that. Swanberry cocked her head at it, observing and tracing their silhouette.
Green eyes widened and her pace came to a sudden halt. Swanberry couldn't believe it... She wouldn't, she couldn't she- was he really there? She opened her maw to speak but nothing came. Her thoughts were empty, her throat was dry. But her eyes? Overflowing. Wet tears streamed down her face, her lip trembling in silent cry. She ran up to him, outstretched her arms and wrapped them around his neck, burying her face into his chest.

✧.* She was here. It was actually her. Death couldn't separate them. They'd always find a way to be together. "I missed you too, my love. I did. I wish I could StarClan is the best place I've ever been, but wherever you are is the best. So I do suppose that right now, StarClan is the best." he said, his tone playful on the last sentence. He wrapped his paws around Swanberry, embracing her as she buried her face into his silvery chest, sobbing.
He knew that StarClan was the best place a cat could be. But it didn't feel like it. It felt worse than the Dark Forest. Without Swanberry with him, without the love of his life, he felt... empty. StarClan felt like it was made just to torture the dead. To torture him. He felt his eyes begin to water, and a tear roll down his cheek. And another. And another. He was crying now. His heart felt like it was being pulled at, like its strings were being plucked. And so they just sat there, curled around each other, sobbing. "I've missed you more than you know. My life up here... it feels like it's hollow, without you. I can't live without you. I know I'm dead... after all. Theoretically, I can't live without you, since I'm dead. Well, then I can't be dead without you. Is that worse? I don't know at this point." he murmured.
Move on. He had to tell himself to move on. But it was so, so hard. Letting go of the one cat you ever loved, who ever loved you, when you had been alone for so long? When the only cat in your life, your own father, abandoned and abused you? When your brother drowned and you could do nothing to save him? When you'd never be able be a father, the only thing you ever wanted, to be in a happy family? Would you be able to move on?

(I keep de-aging this gal cuz she's too darn OLDD)
It felt uncomfortable here. Well, physically uncomfortable. Riverwhisper (stars, she still couldn't believe he was here) was sobbing uncomfortably and also being weirdly humourous and charming. An odd mix that made Swanberry giggle awkwardly. She felt him a bit tighter, running her sore paws through his fur. He was here, but he wasn't oddly enough. It was a weird yet welcome feeling. Mentally, everything wasn't completely sunshine and rainbows either but it was sure getting better. Riverwhisper was here in spirit and by some miracle he hadn't forgotten her.
His next string of words slightly surprised her. While Swanberry had a gripe with her ancestors she had no doubt that Starclan as a place was absolutely beautiful and bountiful with all the prey a cat can eat, nice and charming social spots and perfect cloud filled skies. It must be paradise up there in the stars, but Riverwhisper thought otherwise. Because she wasn't there. The soon to be queen smiled widely, tears pooling in her green eyes. "Haha... You don't mean that, do you?" She chucked sarcastically, though her tone was almost hurt. "I'm sure the beauty of Starclan is far more appealing than my bloodshot eyes, hun, I don't look as good as I used to. But it's sweet, really sweet, that you came down here."
Swanberry weaved herself from her position only to attempt at licking away her mates tears. Seeing him all puffy eyed and vulnerable was certainly a sight, one that made her heart twist horribly. "It's okay to not know... I didn't know about half the decisions I decided to make, like loving you. It was a pretty darn good choice though, you're great. Really, you are."
Swanberry looked at his glossy eyes and she watched as they clouded. He was thinking, she could tell. About what? That she unfortunately had no answer to. A mystery to her for eternity unless she asked. "Hey. What's on your mind? I'm here, we can talk."
