Alpinepaw said to Wolfhive while she sniffed the air, "I don't have any battle experience. Are we allowed out here?" Alpinepaw was a bit anxious since there were still predators about. Fortunately, there were no nearby predators.

Wolfhive - @BEAR.

"You're with me, so yes." Wolfhive watched Alpinepaw for a moment, recognizing she seemed uneasy. "No harm will come to you while I'm around."

If he were a standard warrior, there'd be restrictions - but Wolfhive knew Bumba's rule didn't apply to the bee squad and wasn't concerned in that regard. Still, he'd listen if she had more concerns. "We'll go over some moves then I want to try to spar with you. Nothing too rough, just wanna prepare you.." for if something else happened, because she almost died and he hated that a random patrol endangered one of his kids.

Wolfhive turned to face her. "Many of the moves you see in battle are going to be fairly simple. Swiping your enemy, dodging, jumping at, biting. I'll cover some of the most common ones before I attack you, and I want you to use them against me. Keep your claws sheathe; I don't want either of us getting hurt! You ready?"

Alpinepaw eagerly nodded. She was more than ready! The young apprentice got into a starting position (bending her legs a bit). Her eyes were filled with determination. Alpinepaw waited for Wolfhive's instructions.

Wolfhive would go on to demonstrate the tried and true techniques; side-stepping (and general dodging), front paw blow/strike, swiping, biting and other things from the books.... BEAR. would type this out in more detail but regurgitating info is boring and he'd rather get onto the more fun part. Consider her an expurrrt on the basics.

"... Now, prepare yourself!"

Then Wolfhive lunged - but at the last second he swerved to bat toward her shoulder. If she was quick, she might be able to trip him up despite his attempt to take her by surprise!

Alpinepaw saw that Wolfhive was lunging at her and quickly jumped out of the way. She landed safely on her feet. Alpinepaw ran towards him soon after and attempted to swipe at Wolfhive's flank. She only knew the very basics of battle moves (swipe, dodge, jump, bite).

She dodged and swiped toward his flank, and Wolfhive twisted out of the way. Had her claws been out, she might've just shaved some extra fluff!

He bounced after her, this time aiming to strike her side with just enough force to topple her.

Alpinepaw had no time to react to Wolfhive's attack and nearly toppled over. Once she was stable, she lunged at him and bit softly not to cause any damage. Normally, battles were quick-paced, and hardly anyone had time to think.

"Good!" His plan had been to pin her, but she snuck away just in time - quick thinking like this would suit her well in an actual fight. Wolfhive whapped lightly at her head as she bit into his fur, the goal simply being to get her to release, then used one of his legs to try to sweep her paws out from under her.

Alpinepaw was too focused on him to notice what he briefly said. She released her grip and she felt her paws getting whacked. Unfortunately for Wolfhive, she did not lose her footing. Her paws were still on the ground. Alpinepaw thought of an idea and headbutted him as hard as she could.
