SHADEFROST

THE DEATHWEAVER

"Hmm..."

Came the sound, a low and curious hum that seemed to be amplified in the ever-silent ambiance of the shadowy forest. Two sapphire blue hues peered through the heavy darkness to stare at the limp form of a young she-cat, watching as her sides rose and fell with each sleeping breath.

"So," The tom began, voicing his thoughts as he spoke, "It is possible, how fascinating."

The warrior could recall a time many moons ago when something similar had been done to him. He had awaken to find that he was no longer in his nest, nor Shadowclan for that matter. Somehow he'd been transported to a place that seemed to exist beyond the bounds of reality. And it was all due to a cat that'd been reported dead only a few sunrises prior.

At the moment, it'd seemed like a waste of his energy and time. He had no relationship with the tom that'd passed, and it hadn't seemed as if he'd pulled into the dreamscape for anything worth while. So when he awoke he wrote it off as a weird dream and went about his life without giving it a second thought. Now, however, he was grateful it'd happened to him. It seemed that despite all it's cruelty, death hadn't depraved him of a way to keep constant solitude from eroding his sanity.

Shadefrost shook off the memories, focusing once more on the apprentice before him. Her fur, was a mixture of white and black, and for a brief moment it reminded him of a badger's pelt. But it paled in comparison to why he'd chosen to test his dream visiting ability on her.

He stepped forward a few paces before speaking, "Well, hello little badger cub?" he said after a long moment, his voice rising barely above a whisper, though it still sounded louder than he'd anticipated. "What is it that the future holds in store for you?"
