[since there were two appliances for the mate, i'll post a starter for both of them to respond to and after about 3-4 roleplay posts i'll choose which one would suit basil best]

Pacing along the ShadowClan-ThunderClan border, the grey tom's ears were pricked for any signs of enemies. No one dares cross the border when I'm guarding it, he thought proudly to himself. The bushes rustled. Basil turned to the border. No one. But there was a scent in the air... A fresh, ThunderClan scent, one that wasn't part of the border markers. 'Who's there?' he called suspiciously. Intruder..?

I crawled about the border, seeking out him. That loner, the cat that saved my life not too many moons ago. I hadn't yet realized I had passed a border- the wrong border.

"Who are you?" I stepped into the light. My nose was stuffy today; I couldn't tell what clan the he-cat was.

'I'll be the one asking questions here,' he growled aggressively. 'Who are you, and why are you crawling around the border, being sneaky and suspicious?' His hackles raised and his tail lashing, Basil glared at the ThunderClan she-cat. She's probably plotting against ShadowClan. He unsheathed his claws. Which means I'll have to protect the clan.

He'd do it willingly. Anything to protect his clan, the mighty ShadowClan, at all costs.

I was taken aback. Then I recognized the scent. "Shadowclan.. So he's not here.."

"Hold your horses, party boy. I didn't mean to dabble on Shadowclan land, honest!" I sighed after a moment, holding back tears. "My name is Joycaller. I was looking for a loner. He.. he.. he's very important to me. and my life."

"Well, I was looking for the cat that actually saved my life, but whatever- I'll be gone now, party boy." I chuckled and turned tail, scars shining in my pelt annyoingly. My fur got caught in a bush for a moment, leaving white calico fur embroidered into the bush.

My tail flicked as I headed homeward, thinking longingly, Where is the he-cat that saved my life..? I never got to thank him after that. He was just.. gone.

I blinked. Ahaha! He was here again- He better not plan to rip me to shreds. "It's just me. I was.. on a solo patrol?" I step out of the bushes.
