Rivers don’t only hold fish {Rc event}

Redlake cleared her throat. “Apprentices, please gather around and hear my words! We have business to attend to.”

The stern, huge, red Molly flicked her tail as if waiting to get this started. Her leader was sick and she had to make sure that the apprentices got to learn how to hunt land prey in case their precious river froze. The Molly with scar’s wasn’t fond of disrespectful apprentices, but she knew that all of the apprentices needed to their part in Riverclan.

This included hunting, fighting, and respect. Redlake was big on respect and commitment. She blinked and waited for apprentices to come and listen. She thought in her head; who do I sort with who? Redlake thought for a mere second and then concluded that the oldest ones would be the leaders of their group. The second oldest would help the others once they’ve gotten in correctly and the youngest ones will follow along. She thought about what prey they could learn to catch. Redlake decided that each group would focus on one animal. Once everyone was there she said, ”We will be learning how to catch land prey for Leafbare. If the river freezes we will know how to catch land prey to eat. You will all be sorted into groups. Oldest is the leader; they teach the second oldest so that they can teach the younger ones. Anyone got a problem with that?”

Seapaw trotted over, right now he only knew how to catch fish ... even though he was bad at that. Great! I can learn how to catch other things! He thought, sitting down to wait for others too join the event.

Hunting huh? She could definitely use this for her training. She moved over to the group of gathering cats and sat down, paws tucked under tail to keep warm. She really hated this time of year, luckily she wouldn't have to spend it alone this time. It was really bad when last leafbare she got snowed into her den. She shivered at the thought of it.

Smokepaw decided to participate hearing her older sister’s words. “Alright then,” she meowed,”let’s get started.”


Goldenleaf eagerly went over to participate, wondering what would happen next.

Redlake. The huge she-cat from her last border patrol had decided to organize a land hunting lesson. Mintpaw thought about it for a moment. I have a mentor. But Slatestripe has two apprentices at once, and is often very busy... I guess he will be pleased if I do some other work outside of our lessons. Yes, that would make him proud.

At last, she padded up to the little group of gathered apprentices and sat down quietly to listen. Redlake's instructions didn't sound very practical - how would it be useful if she had to learn from another apprentice, that had just learned from another apprentice that had just learnt from... Well, I guess that's a useless effort. Redlake must know that she can't deal with so many apprentices at once. But I have my doubts about how this will work.
And with that, she sat down and waited silently for other cats to join them.
