Lostspark

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. But Lostspark's heart was not growing. It was shrinking. Lostspark's was only closing in on itself. Folding and folding and folding until it was no more than just something that constantly beat at a steady pace, kept her alive.

They say the heart has a brain of its own. Then why was Lostspark's so intent on making her feel every inch inside her chest that felt like a gaping hole, a wound torn open, one that even she, with all her herbal knowledge, could not heal. Some medicine cat she was.

They say; an optimist laughs to forget, and a pessimist forgets to laugh. Lostspark was neither, which was why she believed only realists thought this way. But at the very least, she was not broken. She had faced lows before, and this... this was nothing in comparison to those.

So in the end, it was simple enough for Lostspark to trail after her mother, following in her large footsteps, a predator on the prowl. She had gotten all the way here, on her own. Rejection, served up by her own kits, her blood, was not going to pull her down. Like hell it would. She would not let it. Gait a slow, lazy stroll, Lostspark made her way up to the Medicine Cat's spot and settled down with nary a sound. She was the first one here, again, despite the fact that ThunderClan had arrived already.

So, a Gathering? Palepad didn't feel like it would be safe for Lambblood, but she had been persistent. "Hey," lambblood mewed softly, Noticing Palepad stiffen like a statue. "I'll be fine. I promise," the white and brown she mewed to her mate. Palepad loosened up. "Yeah, you're right. Probably shouldn't stress much. Don't make promises you can't keep," he teased, licking Lambblood's cheek. Palepad glared as Russethowl, the white tom's topaz eyes stating She's Mine. The two cats found a spot before talking with each other

Great. He did not expect Lambblood and Palepad to be here. They were the entire reason Russet went to gatherings. To avoid them! His green eyes flashed to the two white cats. Russethowl made sure to distance himself from the two, his large russet build trying not to squish anyone.

Birdpaw could hardly contain her excitement as she followed her beloved medicine cat duo to the Gathering. Her first. Ever. Gathering. In fact, her first time out of camp!!! Birdpaw vibrated with energy, often stumbling over branches and roots because she couldn't look where she was going. All she could do was keep her head on a swivel, taking in every bush, every tree, every boulder the clan swept by in dizzying currents of shadows. Birdpaw almost stumbled into her mother as she followed, chirping a quick "sorry Muma!" before continuing to gawk at every shadowed shape in the night.

Mistlewhisker slunk after her leader, the scars of the mink encounter straining against the muscles rippling under her pelt. Her shoulder throbbed and her flank stung with every step, and really, she should have stayed back at camp. All of those on the patrol should have. But the Enforcer was not going to let the pathetic excuse of a clan she lived in show up to the Gathering without her. She wasn't about to stay behind due to some scratches.

The beach opened up before them, and Mistlewhisker stuck close to her leader as ShadowClan flooded the sand. Mistlewhisker broke off before Dawnstar reached the Sea Stones, heading to find a quiet spot and keep an eye on her clan and the others. Seemed like ThunderClan was the only clan that had arrived. She wondered if RiverClan would show up this time. The Enforcer swept her long tail over her paws, taking the time to begin cleaning her face. Her fur still smelled faintly of copper, cuts repeatedly opening as she had talked after the incident. She bet Crowtooth would be delighted to poke fun at her wounds.

Hillstrider was looking forward to this Gathering. While Dawnstar's scathing words had dampened his mood lately--he had been sort of looking forward to that raid--Hillstrider knew that all he needed was some social interaction. Just being around that many cats and hearing their conversations seemed to fuel him like a battery. The "togetherness" (though the clans hardly knew the meaning of that word didn't they) of so many cats being in one space was appealing to the tom. Maybe he'd even make some new friends!


Hillstrider sat not too far from the Sea Stones, loafing up and waiting for the other clans to arrive.

He wasn't here for the last one. Call him crazy but even he knows when he's gotta take a breather. Nothing like showing up all beat up. He was tired, sue him. Taking up the tail end of their gaggle of acornbrains, Spiderthroat scanned the gathering. So far it looked like just...them and oh! There's ShadowClan, wonderful. ShadowClan with a lack of that yapper...odd. He wouldn't complain. No need to tune out the other odd one which he'd call a blessing in disguise. He didn't kill that one...did he? No. That one had a nasty scar on his face, teeth missing and all.

With a sniff, the deputy sat himself down in the designated area. Wondering who would pop up next.

"If you're sure." Windflowerpaw blinked at him in surprise. Well, surprise might not be the best word, it was more like bewilderment. It shouldn't be, Silentpaw didn't seem to like cats much already. But she was in for more surprises as the apprentice started small talk. Who was this and what did he do with Silentpaw?

The multicolored she gave him a grin. They didn't mind a bit, she will definitely grow to like chatting with him. "Yeah I am! We get to meet other Clan! See how their doing, learn their secrets.." she laughed and whispered the last bit.

"Phew.." Mountainpaw let out a loud sigh. She looked up again and nodded. "I won't" she swore in a sing-songy way. The small apprentice walked over to two Shadowclan apprentices with a smile on her face. "Hi hi! My name is Mountainpaw! What's yours?"

Either it was just her, or every adjacent gathering to occur was always chaotic. Steadily, the herbalist swerved her way through the soft sand beneath her paws, her fur growing moist against the dampened leaves that brushed against her coat. Moonlight lit the pastel colors that decorated her coat, lightly brushing along the light scarring apparent along her flanks as she exposed herself to the naturalized gathering place. Something about this gathering didn’t sit right with the calico. Springlight wasn’t certain of what it was, but she felt some sort as if some sort of tension was bound to unfold itself in any way or other from just the moment she stepped foot into the gathering place. It had only briefly turned into new-leaf, and yet, tensions were on the move just as they would on a flowing stream. There was an icy cold sensation washing over, and the molly felt certain that it was due to the early temperatures that drastically showed themselves for each early dew morning of springtime from upon its arrival. It felt ridiculous, really, for why she felt as if this gathering was going to go wrong as if it didn’t every other time it occurred. A short huff of breath expelled past her lips, the molly approaching the Seastones to take her place and unwillingly listen towards the angered bickering of future arguments.

Approaching the Seastones, the calico merely stared up toward the healer’s poach for only a short moment, casting a short glance towards the blue-gray tabby that presumably followed alongside her. The ThunderClan medic duo was the last to come to the gathering for ThunderClan's High Ranks, and fairly, Springlight felt cautious about allowing her mentor to go by herself given her current condition. Sure, Drizzlecloud had handled herself for years given that she was only half deaf, but she couldn’t find herself wanting to abandon her all matters for just going up to join Lostspark, who seemingly didn’t seem to be phased at all of wanting to participate in this soon-to-be chaotic gathering. Not that Springlight could reprimand the fellow herbalist’s thoughts, as she felt just as equal. Given the chaotic hectics that occurred last gathering, this one may either be just as bad or even for once, a quiet and peaceful gathering with no interruptions. “Do… you need… any spare… help… getting… up here… Drizzlecloud?” The medic questioned, glancing briefly towards her mentor as her blue eyes dazzled inquisitively with the moonlight, trying her hardest to see if the fellow medic would wish to pursue her assistance. Her lips moved slowly for her mentor to lip-read, being sure to voice her words carefully so her mentor could easily understand what she was trying to say. It was unfortunate that she bore little knowledge of sign language, as she would’ve used that preferred method over this, but she didn’t have much of a singularized choice, now, did she?

Silentpaw let out a snort, smirking before quickly fixing his expression to the normal, emotionless and unreadable expression he usually wore. He nodded, looking away from the apprentice and towards the group of ThunderClan cats.

"Hm." He muttered, "Yeah." He tapped his paw on the ground, turning his gaze back to the multicoloured apprentice, meeting her eyes.
