Another day another method to try and make sure his kits were actually tired enough to go to sleep at bedtime. Nathaniel had no clue how his mom had managed him and his siblings because trying to manage his kittens was often exhausting, even if he loved them to death. Maybe he was just calmer when he was young? Though that didnt feel accurate really.


The thought was a passing one though and instead with a stretch and a nuzzle to a sleeping Rowan who he doubted would be coming the father called out to the others with a grin.
"Gather round my spawn! We're going on a walk today further then you've ever gone before! I need help gathering some herbs and good kittens who do well can even get their first healing lesson on what the herbs do. You dont have to come but I can promise lazy kittens will be missing out~"

Hmm? Oh! A walk? They were going on a walk today? How splendid! Ginger looked up at her father with a surprised smile, as she uncurled her form from where she'd previously been resting...well, fidgeting. Ears perked and shiny blue eyes wide, the kitten trotted over to Nathaniel and sat at his paws. "I'll come, papa!" this would be a chance to research many new plant species...oh, and learn some healing of course! It'd always be useful to know!

"I'll come first!!!"
A broken squawk came from the kitten's maw as she stumbled forth out of her nest, bedding flying over her back and tripping her up as she tried to hurry ahead of Ginger, who had long reached papa's paws. Snowdrop meanwhile had landed on the ground with a loud oof, eyes closing on impact before the oddly patterned kitten scrambled back up.
"Coming!"
Snowdrop called again, tossing aside the bedding of her nest - finally free - to run towards where papa and Ginger stood. Gee, she wanted to be first! Playfully the kitten shoved into her sister's shoulder, giving her a pointed yet amused look as the little one joined their papa's feet as well.
"How far are we going?"
She questioned, a buzz of excitement flowing through her veins.

Two out of four kittens wasnt half bad at all and Nathaniel chuckled, rasping a tongue over Gingers head and reaching out a paw to gently poke over his daughter for injuries before looking over them fondly, heart warm. This, this right here was what made his life and all the pain he'd gone through worth it. This was why Nathaniel had forced himself to heal and grow and learn to be a better cat because Rhiannon sure and hell didnt mind him being a right snake. No, he was better because his kittens deserved the best and he'd always do everything to give them that.

"We're not going far but farther then the park, there's a little woodland not far that's safe but has more herbs then most gardens. So that's more distance from home then you two have ever been yet! So if you get tired and need a break just tell me and we can stop or I can give you a badger ride, we're not in a rush.

Now follow Papa and well be there in no time flat~"
And so the family was on their journey.


Raised kittypets Nathaniel was well aware his kittens were more comfortable in streets and near monsters and twolegs then he was but he did know enough, teaching the two the signs of cars coming and where best to cross and where to avoid as they traveled. It was all skills Rhiannon had taught him so long ago, a scared out of his depth forest cat lost in a world not his own, and now he was passing it down to kittens who were the reverse. It was an odd thought, that his children might never know the forest like he didnt know the town, but one he shook off quickly.

Those were too dark thoughts for the nice day and outing, and they were reaching the thicket besides.


"Here we are kittens! We're looking for celandine, juniper, comfrey, and general wound care herbs. Anyone wanna know what those herbs are and do?

Ill give you the first description to look for while you decide. Juniper is a berry on something like a pine tree, though the needle leaves are softer then pines and the tree is more of a bush. The berries are blue-purple and it all smells like sweet woody pine so if you see something like that tell me.

Or just play, I see lots of pretty butterflies to 'hunt'."
In the meantime he'd be doing his own collecting, having spotting a blooming comfrey plant nearby, and padding over to sniff and enjoy the flowers before fleecing the plant of leaves. Honestly the flowers in the area were amazing, summer in full bloom today.

A loud purr came from the winter-born kitten, happily wobbling next to her littermate as she looked up to their papa, eager to see this all-new area! She hadn’t been beyond the park before, in fact, she hardly been to the park at all up until now. Snowdrop loved her spot by the window where she could observe the world outside from the warmth of her home and the comfort of her blanket-filled nest, so this was beyond exciting! Though, as expected, Snowdrop was the first to pipe up at the mention of a badger ride, already brushing up against her papa with her best cute-kitten pleading eyes.
“Can I get a badger ride, pretty pleasseee?”

She batted her eyes cutely, trying to put all the odds in her favour. Though, truthfully, it came as no surprise when Nathaniel happily obliged and Snowdrop soon lay perched on top of her father’s in great comfort, riding all the way towards the forest clearing from her comfortable throne.
“Thank you papa!”
She still giggled – after all, mama and papa had raised a good kitten!

By the time they arrived, Snowdrop had awoken from an impromptu half-nap, slightly drowsy mismatched eyes lifting and marvelling at her surroundings. It was so… Strangely… Pretty. It reminded her of when that kitten had called her a Starcat.
“Do see that Ginger? It’s so pretty!”
She finally exclaimed, neatly flipping of Nathaniel’s back when he let her down and throwing an amazed paw around her sister’s shoulders. It was almost as pretty as when the thick layers of snow covered the dark grey ground and frosted grass, and intricate snowflakes fell from the sky to adorn the world in its beauty.

It was Nathaniel’s words that pulled Snowdrop out of her reverie, prompting her to turn around a wave an eager paw as she exclaimed.
“I want to know, please!”
She had never shown particular interest in learning the craft up until now, though the little one would be a fool to pass up learning what papa’s plants did. After all, she had always been curious at the very least, because they seemed so important to him, and she wanted to know why.
“We can find that! Right, Ginger? We’ll look together, won’t we?”
Happy blue and green eyes, one of each parent, turned towards her sister as she inquired on what she would do, hopeful that they could help papa find the juniper berries together.
