Mistlewhisker
ShadowClan Enforcer
she/her | 38 moons
[Large black cat with a half white muzzle and pale green eye (left gouged out)]
Purrks: Beefed Up T3 [ACTIVE], Shadow Fiend
· · ────────────── · ·
[Dawnstar - @Undertaker ] [Petalrot - @Neptune. ] [Moonmeadow - @Dolomedes ] [Darkfall - @Dark ]
· · ────────────── · ·
Mistlewhisker didn't have the chance to check on the rest of her patrol as chaos unfolded, yowls of pain, surprise and fury filling the forest. She briefly heard her name called, and for a moment Mistlewhisker wondered if someone had gone down, or if it was an order for retreat. That was until Petalrot barreled to her, right into what she assumed were minks headed for the larger cat's side. Mistlewhisker didn't have time to feel grateful for bug, as the mink she grappled with let out a shriek and lunged for her throat, narrowly missing and instead tearing a chunk out of her shoulder. Mistlewhisker howled in pain, involuntary tears springing to her eye as blood gushed over her fur and the forest floor under her. She could hear Petalrot struggling nearby, and knew that unless she could best this mink, the younger warrior would go down.

The mink was strong, but Mistlewhisker was stronger. With a snarl, the enforcer lurched up, taking the mink by surprise as she clamped her jaws around its throat and tore. Adrenaline increased her strength three times over, and Mistlewhisker felt several snaps and tears as she ripped the mink's head from the rest of its body. Blood filled her mouth and dripped onto the dark fur of the mink--now still--below her. A red haze had taken the enforcer, and for a heartbeat she stood there, blood and flesh dripping from her parted maw as she snarled. Then, she was free.

Mistlewhisker lunged towards Petalrot, the warrior rolling to dislodge a mink attacking its legs. The enforcer snagged the mink with her claws and dragged it off of Petalrot, tossing it to the side. With one threat down, maybe bug could take care of the one attacking bug. But Mistlewhisker could already tell the warrior was getting tired, and Mistlewhisker felt her adrenaline slowly seep from the wounds along her flank and the bite on her shoulder. There was no way they could keep this up. For every mink they subdued, five more took their place. They needed to retreat. But the minks could follow them to camp, and that would never happen as long as Mistlewhisker could still fight. She would gladly die to keep these things from her clan, but that didn't mean she was going to give up. Mistlewhisker spat the blood from her mouth, grinning. "Don't get tired on me yet, Petalrot." She rasped, her one green eye crazed with bloodlust. "We're not done here."

With that, Mistlewhisker engaged the mink in front of her, exchanging blow after blow that only seemed to invigorate the creature. More swarmed her and Petalrot, and Mistlewhisker felt tiny teeth and claws clamp down on her hind legs, dragging her down. No matter how many times she got up, more leapt at her. She was losing sight of the others, of Petalrot--Mistlewhisker tried to break free to reach the warrior, but for every step she made, she was torn up more and more.

Default Re: Surprise!

Moonmeadow
| She/they | ShC warrior | Moons: 21 | Purrks: Shadow Fiend |
| TW: thoughts of death, injury description |

Moonmeadow growled, muffling the cry of pain that welled up in her chest as another one of those minks managed to bite on her legs. She slammed it into the ground with a quick roll, the thing squealed and reared back, tearing off some flesh as it went. Tears sprung in their eyes but it didn't stop them from taking a full powered swing at the thing, it connected and sent the creature flying away with a newly ribbon-ed belly. The cries of her companions were what really hurt in Moonmeadow's opinion, they shouldn't have been this overwhelmed this quickly. How did this get so out of paw?! They bounced away as another mink shot at them, just for another to crawl up her tail, attempting to bite into the flesh beneath her thick pelt but failing. She swung it off and reared up, slamming her huge paws as hard as she could before they were being rammed into by two more of the creatures. They seemed to be never ending. Moonmeadow, cried slightly as one bite landed along her leg just as another one aimed for her shoulder.

Once more, the feline rolled, kicking off the minks before using the very brief respite to search the surging waves of the fight for her patrol mates. They couldn't find Dawnstar or Darkfall in the haze of their vision but a familiar blur that they recognized as Petalrot and Mistlewhisker was painstakingly clear. A creature charged her and she barely managed to swerve out the way but it only served to let her gain momentum to get to Mistlewhisker. The enforcer was holding her own well until she wasn't, damn pack hunters, and the things knew it too. They were overwhelming the enforcer and if Moonmeadow didn't get there and Mistlewhisker went down, the molly was sure to die. The moment that any of them went down, they would be swarmed and killed in seconds likely. The grim thought, and the tunnel vision, were not things that Moonmeadow was acquainted with, but at that moment her thoughts were clear and she was sprinting through the fray.

One paw, two paws, crushing the minks that were in her way with little care, some spinning with a slight daze after the weight before they were chasing Moonmeadow. The warrior pivoted and whirled her paw around with the force, causing one of the following minks to go flying. The feline knew that it would be back in moments. She, with little stopping, twirled back to keep running to Mistlewhisker. "Mistlewhisker!" She dove at some of the minks attacking the enforcer. With a mix of adrenaline, luck, and fear, Moonmeadow made it in time to tear some of the minks' attention from the enforcer to her. She didn't care, as long as they didn't stay on Mistlewhisker, Moonmeadow didn't care if she went down. The warrior slashed out, the mink she was originally aiming at jumped away, but her paw connected with one behind it. Then there were more.

Moonmeadow didn't feel the pain of the creatures teeth and claws even as she felt the pressure of them along her back and legs. Instead, the feline shot towards the minks at Mistlewhisker's legs instead. Diving forward, the warrior caught one in her jaws and ripped it away, chomping on its mid section as hard as she could before dropping it and moving on. It was only after the minks that were antagonizing the enforcer from behind were cleared, and Moonmeadow took a position at Mistlewhisker's back to prevent her from getting overwhelmed again, that Moonmeadow felt the pain seep back in alongside her thoughts. It was a cry of agony that rang through all of her limbs, her legs shaking horrendously even as they forced them to stay under her. Until between the pain, the cries of her patrol, and the minks in front of her that she lost track of one until it already connected with the section of shoulder that connected with her neck. She gasped, but no scream was able to escape their lungs until they were toppling to the ground.

Moonemeadow, just as they predicted, was swarmed in an instant. Leaving the warrior to pathetically kick away at the creatures. The pain in her body, blinding in its overwhelming everything-ness, leaving her unable to even really see. A mink tore away at her ear, taking a chunk with it before Moonmeadow was slapping at it. More were gunning at her flanks and she could hardly raise a back leg to kick out. This was it. Moonmeadow was going to die in battle. Well, not the worst way to go in the end. Actually, to be honest, Moonmeadow would have it no other way. Protecting her clan was her ultimate goal and going out while doing so was an honor, she trusted her patrol to finish the job. She had accepted the fact that they were going to die here but that didn't mean they were going down without a fight till the end, she would stay striking out like an adder until she was dead. Moonmeadow grinned at the hideous creatures with a bloody grin, stuck laying along the crimson floor, unable to get back to her paws. Blood seeping from her many wounds, and as she finally ripped the mink away from her neck, a new gap where the flesh was torn alongside with it she laughed, a tad hysterically, through the agonizing pain.

Default Re: Surprise!

[Moonraven told me to get this wrapped up sooner rather than later, my next post on the 11th will have the minks dead or retreating.]

Darkfall - @Dark | Mistlewhisker - @Mica | Petalrot - @Neptune. | Moonmeadow - @Dolomedes
This was a complete dungheap. Her tongue was glued to the bottom of her mouth, drenched in so much hot, wet, blood that Dawnstar doubted she'd get the taste out of her mouth for moons to come. She crushed another mink between her fangs viciously; barely keeping an eye on her clanmates through the skirmish. She was hurting everywhere, but as it reminded her she was still breathing and alive, she welcomed the sensation.

Her claws slid through fur and muscle as she hooked the tips into the weasles trying to gnaw off her hind leg. Dawnstar slammed the minks to the ground and bashed the ones clinging to her flank into the nearby tree trunks. They fell off her pelt like ticks. Her amber eyes darted left and right, trying to figure out the best way to get out of here with her warriors. As she heard Mistlewhisker's name yowled, the leader flung one of the minks attached to her tail into another and sought out her clanmates again.

She spotted Petalrot near Mistlewhisker, with Moonmeadow at her back. She didn't see what caused the warriors to go down, one second they were fighting minks away from the Enforcer, and the next they were tumbling toward the ground. Spatting and hissing curses, Dawnstar gave a powerful swing of her forepaw, sweeping the minks in her path out of the way.

The leader bulldozed her way through the small bodies, making her way to Moonmeadow in record time. Glad to see the warrior still fighting even after falling, Dawnstar rapidly swung at the minks near Moonmeadow's flanks and turned any mink aiming for the warrior's neck into mousemeat. With her frustration rising, Dawnstar naturally wanted to snap at the warrior to get up, but upon seeing the damage done, getting Moonmeadow to stay on her paws was more trouble than it was worth.

Ah! This was so infuriating! Fueling her rage into her blows, she scored her claws down another mink's flanks leaving deep gashes behind. The screeching and chittering were driving the leader mad. How to get out of this? The trees? She knew the minks couldn't climb them, but could her clanmates? Even if it wasn't graceful so long as they had claws, it shouldn't be a problem. But how the hell did she get Moonmeadow up?

Carry them? Yeah, Dawnstar could do that, but the issue here was that Dawnstar was losing blood, thus strength, and she didn't trust herself to carry her weight and Moonmeadow up into a tree. The dark tabby pelt was heavily plastered with the dark crimson liquid of her and her enemies' blood. Could leave the warrior, it wouldn't be hard to get up without the Moonmeadow. The alarm bells in her head went off as a violent shiver ran through her body. She utterly loathed that idea. If they stayed any longer they would be overwhelmed, their strength would leave them and they'd become prey for minks!

Dawnstar winced just slightly as her absentmindedness nearly cost her an eye. A mink came flying at her face, she barely managed to keep her eye from getting gouged out. She caught the mink by a hindleg crushing it beneath her fangs while swinging it away as its claws caught her eyelid. That hurt a lot. Now temporarily blinded on one side, she found fighting that much harder. Feeling as if she was fighting a losing battle, endeavoring to keep the minks away from Moonmeadow's neck and her own, Dawnstar found herself more and more tempted to do the unimaginable and leave the warrior to her fate. Then as if wretched StarClan sent, Dawnstar noticed the cats.

Leechscar listened quietly to each of the seniors' advice. He found himself a little annoyed that the decision was being left to him, but it wasn't annoyance with his clanmates, it was more with himself. He did not want to go into ShadowClan's territory. Even though he found Bravebird's quip amusing, the idea of getting the patrol killed worried him immensely. He had heard how WindClan had been ambushed by a ShadowClan patrol and everyone had been slaughtered.

Alliance or not, he did not trust ShadowClan at all. While he debated for a moment longer on simply holding their position or not; the yowling seemed to be getting louder. They sounded like they were in a lot of trouble. Ugh! He was never going to live this down if something went wrong here. Twilightstar would be devasted and the mere thought had his black heart breaking.

"Stay right on my tail." Leechscar sighed reluctantly. "At the first whiff of hostility from these toads it's straight back to the border. No need to die for this." The great gray warrior glanced into a pair of seemingly matching blue eyes of the mother and daughter, and the glaring yellow-green. The tom plunged across the border and into the shadows. It was cold on the other side of the border, muddier too. He could hear his paws squelch when he darted around the trunk of a tree. It almost felt like nightfall, how did ShadowClan live in such a dark place?

Finding it weird to maneuver around actual trees, Leechscar had to slow his speed or risk slamming his head into a trunk. Following the yowls, Leechscar veered around some bushes and startled just a little as a small cluster of three minks darted out. They went around Leechscar's paws and bolted off somewhere, leaving a trail of blood behind them. That explained the screeching.

A pack of minks was going after a ShadowClan. Now like any level-headed kit of Twilightstar, Leechscar would have laughed, said not my problem, and turned to leave. But as he recognized the heavily scarred tabby amongst the patrol, he snorted quietly. They needed that one, he guessed. "Help clear the minks out, but don't die for them." Leechscar hissed to his patrol. With that, the big warrior went toward the slim tortie cat. He lashed out at a mink near bug's flank. This was not how Leechscar wanted to spend his day!

Bravebird - WindClan Warrior
She/her | 45 moons | Beefed Up T3, One with the Warren
Oh, Batglare was no fun. Bravebird glanced over at the older warrior with a raised brow, but a twitch of her whiskers indicated it was all lighthearted. She would much rather this be where their ties with ShadowClan ended, but as screeches continued to fill the air the lilac lynx-point found that those were highly wistful hopes. And truth be told, she was torn - because it sounded like they were all missing out on a rather good fight. But if it was as good as it sounded, it probably meant some of those toads were dying and... who was she to get in the way of what StarClan so clearly wanted?

In the end it seemed they would be aiding as Leechscar ordered them across the border. Claws sliding out, Bravebird glanced at her mother with a smirk. "Let's show them how WindClanners deal with pesky problems," she quipped with a wave of her tail before descending down into ShadowClan territory after Leechscar. It was murkier here almost immediately, and the trees made her snarl. What kind of cats could ever be happy living in such a dense and dark forest? The WindClan warrior couldn't imagine anything better than wide, open moorland and the swift breeze coursing through her fur. Here she had to keep slowing down in order to avoid smashing head-first into one.

Soon enough with the growing sounds of the fight, Bravebird was able to get a first look at exactly what ShadowClan was dealing with - and it was almost enough to get her to skid to a stop. Minks... and a lot of them. Part of her wanted to turn around and let these tunnel rats overwhelm ShadowClan, but Twilightstar's orders rang clear in her head. As much as she hated it, she wouldn't dare disobey her leader, nor the cat leading the patrol. She'd always been a good soldier.

Leaping into action the tall she-cat sprang immediately over towards one of the ShadowClanners who looked like he was having trouble. A mink was biting down on his hind leg and she barred her fangs, piercing the skin of the retched creature and flinging it hard against the trunk of a tree. A 'crack' was heard before it slumped lifeless to the ground. "Better to fight standing up," she grunted before turning to fend off more of the creatures that were coming towards her.

Sharp claws flashed out, raking down the face of the furry beasts with vigor. Bravebird hissed right back as one tried to get to her face again, jaws parting to clamp down on its neck as she ducked and struck from the side. Only when she heard the squeal of the creature did she toss it to the side, watching it scurry off.

Agatha Kitty - Active | Silver Tongue - Active | Beefed Up [Tier 1] - Active

Dapplebreeze did not need to speak to follow orders. In an instance, the polite, demure feline melted away, eyes hardened and with a glint of bloodlust in them. Much as she loathed the idea of rushing to aid the miserable vermin that lived in this swamp, the thrill of battle won her over, no matter who their enemy might be. The reek of musk hit her before she saw them. The blasted trees that cropped all over the place - how ever the other clans preferred such abhorrent living conditions she would never understand - hid them from view for far longer than she would have liked, but the sounds were there. The cries of battle as cat and... oh... Moors and sky, those were some rather dreadful looking weasels indeed!

The yowls of battle surrounded her as her allies - her true, WindClan allies - boosted morale, and she could feel a pointed sneer wrinkling her nose as she cried out with them, adding in a quick, "Swiftly now, not a moment to waste!" before charging in herself.

Her daughter having splendidly taken command of one of the creatures, Dapplebreeze allowed instinct to kick in as she noticed the swarm, enclosing not one but two felines within. The two young warriors were valiantly attempting to reach the others, it seemed, but they were outnumbered. Unlike Bravebird and Batglare, the tan and cream molly had no experience fighting these creatures, but she had never allowed something like that to stop her. There was a first time for everything, after all, and what kind of mentor would she be if she could not step up to the challenge after her own darling apprentice had survived a battle with these? It was instantly clear, of course, that she did not have the brute strength of these marsh dwellers, but with a blood curling cry she leaped into the fray, landing solidly on the back of one of the writhing creatures looming over a black furred warrior, distracted enough to allow her a clear grasp.

"You rabid rats aren't the only ones that can play the numbers game," the former queen hissed in the creature's ear before biting down hard on it, earning a sharp, loud, pained scream for the mink beneath her as it squirmed away from the ShadowClanner, desperately attempting to remove the annoyance at its back.

Charging behind his clanmates, Batglare took a moment to observe the situation. Bravebird was charging in to help a large black-furred tom(Darkfall), Leechscar was trying to help out a tortie (Petalrot), and Dapplebreeze was aiding a large dark-furred she-cat (Mistlewhisker). So that had Batglare moving to help clear minks with the ShadowClan leader. His claws struck the back of a mink crawling towards a dark tail. It took him the longest moment to understand that Dawnstar was guarding an injured warrior.

Uh, well that was a disturbing thought. Unnatural too. Like a lion protecting a mouse or something, it went against nature. Trying not to dwell on the idea for too long, Batglare lashed out with his front paws and worked on keeping Dawnstar's flank cleared. He barely noticed the blood blocking her sight on one side, he did catch the minks taking advantage of it.

Catching one that went flying toward the leader's unguarded flank, he pinned it to the ground and ended its life swiftly. It was barely seen, but he could see more than a few minks retreating, thinning the swarm with the additional fighting force. Batglare didn't remain distracted for long, swinging his claws at the next incoming mink. He did his best not to stay too close to Dawnstar, he could certainly see her nicking him with one of her claws and calling it an accident.

[So, I wasn't sure who was with whom. So I put names next to whomever I thought WC was aiding. Let me know if I got the wrong cat. Also finishing the fighting the 12th with Taker's post]

[Assuming Dark's dropping this so will not be mentioning them.]
Mistlewhisker - @Mica | Petalrot - @Neptune. | Moonmeadow - @Dolomedes @Moonraven - Batglare | @taillow - Bravebird | @Alchemist Kitsune - Dapplebreeze

WindClan stench slapped her in the face with a vengeance. A lilac she-cat was the first to charge in. She recognized Bravebird, whom she fought against some seasons back. The warrior had left Dawnstar with a pretty nice scar that Dawnstar had yet to pay back.

Rage flared in her belly. She turned to plunge her fangs into the back of a mink nipping harshly at her leg. Once she got it to release its grip it was thrown so meanly into a tree, she heard something crack upon impact. The brown and white tom, Batglare, was helping keep the minks away from Moonmeadow. She's met him more than once. The rest of the cats weren't as known as her.

The big gray tom with Petalrot, she knew, met him as a paw, but couldn't place the name now. The cream she-cat was the same, Dawnstar's seen her, but couldn't place the name. As much as Dawnstar hated to admit it, with WindClan's help, the minks became managed. Those that weren't killed, started retreating. It wasn't long before she found her territory clear of living minks. Some minks scattered, others dragged their dead off presumable as a meal, and few ran down that hole.

With the minks retreating, Dawnstar quickly circled Moonmeadow, checking the molly for critical injuries. "Everyone still alive?"Dawnstar called to her clanmates. She side-eyed the WindClan patrol but didn't bother saying anything to them, more interested in checking on her clanmates.
