Spottedstream hurt, but something felt... it felt like a weight had been lifted. gashes all across her body, blood mixing with the rushing river taking her away. Away from her home. kits. her sister.

she didn't help goldie that much in the past two moons. Spottedstream... lost herself. and the cost of finding herself again?

spottedstream tried. she pushed forward, trying to resurface.

but she kept sinking. down. down. down.

her silver pelt was stained crimson. she couldn't breathe. in her final moments of life, she didn't fight it. She couldn't. she was weak. she couldn't do it, she couldn't. no matter how much she tried.

"i'm sorry, goldie," she said, muffled by the water rushing in her mouth.

and she exhaled.

peace. at last.
