smile; we're watching
sparrow
birds take off from the trees, singing their cries of alarm. leaves crackle under grey-furred paws. they are walking, finding their way through the undergrowth. they do not bother with silence. silence is for the wary, and they do not fear this part of the woods. if hints of the phantom are left behind, so be it. they will make themself known soon enough.
soon. but not yet.
lark. poor, poor lark. lost without her family. yes, that was what she was. the forgotten daughter, just waiting to be found. all alone in the world. sparrow would find her, all she had to do was wait. they were so close they could taste it, but not quite. the hunt would continue. patience was a virtue of the victorious, and soon enough they would be among those. soon enough.
a promise.
for now, all they needed was to kill time. they’d always been good at that.

Re: smile; we're watching
What a funny coincidence. A sly grin drew on the feline’s maw, their paces through the forest quiet as a lanky body slithered around the trees like a snake. Pale blue and green eyes – mixed together – gleamed with a certain joy. It certainly had been some time since she last saw their dearly beloved little cousy; not as long as the other one, of course, if that recent display with Fable spinner wasn’t counted. Why, she doubted cousy-dear remembered them at all, but alas, that was the woes of family. She flicked their tail. Jumping upon a fallen tree, trunk, making their presence clearly know as they lay down.
“Why, how long has it been?”
Sweets spoke up, tail flicking – she wondered, which name would Sparrow remember her by? The one her mother had insisted she kept - Junco, or the new alias she had taken upon moons ago? Hmmm, had she even told Sparrow about her new name? Oh, whatever.
“How have you been fairing, cousin, dear. Good, I hope? Tell me – how is my lovely mother doing, hm? Have you seen her at all recently?”
