Mapledawn let out a breath. Well, this was a first. After that mess with Sunglow and Bumblestar, she was afraid she would never get an opportunity like this, Let alone even be let back into ThunderClan. She knew the basics, she could do this.

Acornpaw should be in the Apprentices' Den, right...? She thought, as she poked her head into the den,

"Hey, Acornpaw, you there? It's time you start your training." She called.

Acornpaw jumps out of her nest, already wide awake. She was so excited for today that she woke up at the break of dawn.

"Yeah! I'm here, we're gonna train today? What's first? Hunting? Fighting? Territory tour? Warrior code? Maybe climbing? Oooo!! Or is it swimming?" She bombards Mapledawn with questions, already at the entrance.

Her eyes shine with anticipation and her features are arranged in a wide grin.

"Well, I was thinking maybe I could give you a tour around the territory first," Mapledawn purred, her tail calmly resting on Acornpaw's back. "Now, if you'd follow me..."

"Okay! This'll be my first time out of camp!" She exclaims happily, her eyes shining with excitement.

"I love your enthusiasm, Acornpaw." She purred. "Now, why don't we go visit the RiverClan border?"

When Mapledawn reached the Smallpines, she turned to her apprentice.

"This is where the RiverClan border is. Our side of the territory is full of pine trees, and their side is full of cattails and other plants that grow near wet places. Speaking of which, RiverClan usually lives by wetlands or rivers, that's why they're called RiverClan, see?" Mapledawn flicked her tail at the other side. "I wouldn't want to stay here for too long, since ThunderClan is enemies with RiverClan. And I don't want you coming here alone either."

Acornpaw scrunches her nose at the scent of the markers, they smell like fish.

"Hey Mapledawn? Why does it smell all... gross?" She asks, taking in the area's details as she looks around, "And why would anycat want to live near a river? Aren't they, you know, wet?"

The little molly paws experimentally at the border, curious of how the scent markers work. Well, here comes another question.

"Also, how do the scent markers work? Do you like... spit on the ground or something?" She asks, flicking her ear.

"Well, we can mark our border by scratching on it, watch." Mapledawn, rubbed her pawpad right on the border. "This works because we have scent glands in our pawpads. This is the way you can learn now."

She smiled at Acornpaw.

"Now, if you remember anything, could you repeat what you've just learned... In your own words? After that we can head to the Firefly Cove. You'll love it there."

Acornpaw watches as Mapledawn marks the border and she's just itching to try it herself.

"Oh, okay! So you just do... this?" She asks, rubbing her own paw on the border.

She grins widely at her mentor when she does this, excited that she did something her mentor was able to do... probably. Mapledawn hasn't told her if she's done it right yet, but she's pretty sure she did okay!
