The art of hunting, one Sleepysunrise had begun with pinecones and tail-losing lizards. Today she had the privilege of taking out another small group of apprentices for training, her own returned brother included, whom she had spared an extra long glance to ensure his well-being, a silent question on whether he was alright. Her younger siblings were aging, and soon they would join her rank of warrior… It was difficult to believe, when their ceremonies had been held together, courtesy of her date of birth and meeting dates. She blinked slowly, having roused the three apprentices and now leading them into the territory, not too far from camp to begin with. She was trying Mistlewhisker’s technique, of beginning with mere props for their first lesson. If all went well, they may be able to catch something by the end of this.

Firepaw followed behind the warrior, close to the other two apprentices. They werent familiar to her, so hopefully, aside from learning to hunt, she could also make some more apprentice friends! Tecnically Firepaw already knew how to hunt from her days as an outsider, but most of that was just self-taught nonsense that just so happened to work most of the time, so this would be a good oportunity to learn how to catch prey like a propper clan cat!
Rise and shine, it was time to get started for the day. Palepaw scrambled up to his paws, still a little drowsy from just waking up. His eyes felt a little half opened as he stumbled his way out from the apprentice den. It hasn't been long since he'd became an apprentice, but he thinks he'd settled into the his new nest relatively quickly. Though he would've liked to decorate a little more. But that will come with time.
'Off track again. Where was I going?' Palepaw gave way for a little stretch before spotting a warrior in the distance. She seemed to be calling for him...'oh! OH! It was Sleepysunrise!' Today was going to be his first hunting lesson. He leapt out of the cozy den into a burst of fresh cool air. He shivered slightly as he ran his way up to the group. It was getting cold and soon he'd get to see the rumored Leaf-bare, with all the snow, ice and cold. Of which, he is oddly excitedly for.
"Helloo!" He had given the warrior a small nod in greeting before turning around to see the other apprentices. There were two apprentices, both he'd never met before. But being late is better than never, so he'd introduced himself to Firepaw, who was walking closest to him. "Hiya, I'm Palepaw!"

Firepaw turned around when she heard the apprentice's paws padding across the ground towards them. Firepaw waved her tail towards him in greeting and eagerly indicated him to join the group with her paw. "Finally, a cat in Shadowclan that had some actual energy in them!" She thought. Most of the cats she had met up until now were either profesionally serious or looked downright depressed. And dont get her wrong, she really appreciates some of these cats (Silentpaw and Rookfire specially) but it was very much a welcome change of pace to see someone legitimally happy for once. "Hi there, the name's Firepaw, nice to meet you! First time out hunting?" She asked, Palepaw looked almost kitten siced, recently apprenticed, she guessed, so this was provably one of his first training sesions. "Maybe I can show you some tricks, though im not much of an expert myself, to be honest!" Firepaw continued, wrapping her tail around herself as she talked when a bone chilling breeze started blowing towards her. For Starclan's sake it was starting to get cold! Leaf-bare must be just around the corner. Thats part of why she wanted to do this lesson as early as posible, actually. In leaf-bare her primarily red pelt would stick out of the snow like a sore thumb, almost if not all prey would see her coming from a mile away, so she figured that trying to get all her hunting training before the dreaded season arrived would be a good idea. For now that wasnt a problem though, the only inconvenience of Leaf-bare's slow arrival being the cold, luckily her fluffy tail end offered some very much welcome warmth , so for the time being she would use it as a full-body scarf of sorts. It looked a little silly, but it got the job done.
He felt a little tinge of happiness when Firepaw indicated for him to join in. It's a small gesture but it was one that Palepaw always felt happy to see. The dilute calico kitten padded up closer to the other apprentice as fast as his little legs can take him. It took a little time, but he was able to match Firepaw's pace as Sleepysunrise led them into the forest. "Firepaw! That's such a cool name!"
"Yes! First time out hunting and I'm so so excited!" He flashed a toothy smile at Firepaw. He was definitely way more than excited. He'd been waiting for this day since ...forever! All that sitting in the nursery, watching warriors and apprentice come back from trips and patrols had made Palepaw a little envious. And now, he could be part of the journey. Be part of what makes the clan strong. "Oooh yes please! I'm gonna try to learn all that I can today~"
He'd flicked his tail side to side excitedly. He'd love learning new things; tips and tricks are no exception. There were just so much knowledge littered all over the world for Palepaw to learn. And if Firepaw was willing to share a little trick she knows, he would be all ears to listen. The momentary enthusiasm had made Palepaw warm. Or perhaps, he'd forgotten to feel the chill of the winds. The gentle cool breeze had just reminded him of the tales where the leaves in some tree would turn red like fire before falling. "I can't wait to see the leaves turn red! I want to see if the stories I've heard are true or not."
He'd never seen it happen before. Afterall, he was spring child.

Firepaw giggeled at Palepaw's itty bitty steps and tried to slow her pace a little bit so the tinier apprentice could keep up easier, her step still ressembling a cheerful trot. Firepaw couldnt help but to smile again when Palepaw complimented her name. "Oh, thank you! Yeah, Dawnstar has good taste when naming cats, doesnt she?" She awnsered, older apprentice's chest puffing out proudly. "Your name is pretty nice too! It could provably make for a really cool warrior name, like..." Firepaw thought for a little bit while looking at the younger apprentice, like she was trying to dig his future warrior name out of his head. "Ooh, maybe you could be named something like Palelight! Or Paledawn, or maybe Palemoon, either of those work, though I bet whatever Dawnstar ends up picking will sound cool!"
She continued listening as Palepaw spoke, following Sleepysunrise as the warrior led them deeper into the territory. So this was his first time hunting, and the little apprentice seemed really excited about it, and she really couldnt blame him, she was too! Learning how to fight and how to patrol the territory was cool and all, and a very much necesary set of skills to have, but hunting was the pillar that kept the clan standing, and she was so thrilled that she was finally going to be able to be a part of it! "Nice, its my first time hunting too! I hope I manage to catch a bird so I can get some neat feathers for my collection, but for now I'l be happy with anything! A mouse would also be nice..." She continued, wondering what other sorts of neat prey they could find around that area. There provably were all sorts of cool animals hiding in her territory she didnt even know about yet! Like, maybe behind that bush there was a tasty long snack with teeth long as can be! Or maybe on top of that tree there was a red mouse with a really fluffy tail, or...
The chilly morning breeze snapped her out of her thouhgts, making the short furred apprentice shiver like a kit in leaf-bare. "O-o-oh, yeah! I've been looking foward to getting to see the leaves turn red too. Maybe I could use the chance to hunt as much as posible, I bet my pelt would blend in quite well with them..." What she wasnt looking foward to, however, was the cold getting worse. Firepaw suddenly wished she had inherited her mother's long fur, but oh well, its not liek she could do anything about it now.
"Wow! That does sound cool! Palemoon~" Palepaw eyes lit up as he took that all in. They were all some really cool options, and it made him sound like some super awesome ghost in the mist. Though he'd had a little too many encounters with ghost stories as a kit, he still thinks it would be cool as an analogy. He'd chuckled at the ghost thought he'd just came up with. With full confidence, Palepaw stated with glee, "I know right! I trust Dawnstar would give me a super cool name! How about you? What would you like yours to be?"
The little pale calico made showed he'd followed everyone tightly, careful to not be left behind. His gaze stretched to the tree line above them and watched a few birds fly past. It would be cool to fly. Definitely. His mind wandered again before turning back to Firepaw, "Yes! I don't care what I find. I'm...I'm going to catch a lot of prey!"
His goal was simple. But this was his first time hunting and there's no telling if he'll even be good at it. Though his roleplayer does suppose if he could catch at least one or...maybe two, they'd be very happy.
"Ohhh that's true! You could blend in!" Palepaw's eyes lit up with wonder, "Then when the leaves do fall, you'll be able to sneak up on so many prey. And. Anddd catch so so much!"
Moonpaw
Apprentice || He/him || 9 Moons || Purrks: Chill of death || Silver tongue
Moonpaw was excited to learn the proper way to hunt. His own techniques kept him alive... but barely.
He caught his half-sister's look. One of worry and... was that doubt he saw? Doubt that he wouldn't be good at hunting? That he wasn't going to be a good warrior?? PFF!!! Moonpaw offered her nothing more than a curt nod before turning away. He didn't need another judgey sibling. She just needed to teach him what Darkcloud couldn't so he could return home to Mama.
@Estelle
It seemed once again Firepaw, Palepaw and Moonpaw were in her company. This time for hunting, something she could have taken Nightpaw along on, but he did already have a lesson and she hadn’t wanted to make the group too big. Besides, these apprentices required the basics, and Sleepysunrise was not above offering it. Halting among a good area, she knew that the first order of business was the hunter’s crouch, and as she such she waved her tail to gain the group’s attention. “Hunter’s crouch.”
She began bluntly, before lowing into a well-trained crouch. “You need to be low. Balanced. Your fur can’t touch the ground. Neither can your tail. Paws… Shoulder length apart.”
She raised up, head tilted. “Now you.”
