Woah, look at that: everything's a little bit quieter now, like the world's been pared down to just them both. Funny how that works.

It listens intently as Frogkit gives a rundown of her current predicament, giving up its search of the hideaway that it's being shown. Well. At least it knows where all that went, out in the clearing, after it had scurried off.

"Bad Frogkit," Maggotkit says. "You shouldn't say that stuff. To big cats I mean. They don't like it." It sees this as a rookie failure on Frogkit's behalf; when you act the wrong way, cats will notice and do something about it. And since kits are very little and need to be taught lots, cats notice extra.

"You don't need that kinda mom." It continues, rolling idly onto its back and staring at Frogkit from the flipped perspective. "How long'd you even know her for and how quick did she mess it all up?" It sticks its tongue out in disapproval. "Bad luck. Oh well. Kinda funny you lost two moms though. You gonna try three?"

It knows this is an awful thing to ask. It wants to see what Frogkit does about it, is all.

Frogkit looked at maggotkit with disgust,
nothing was more offensive to frogkit than
someone bringing up her mom. She was hurt.
no apology could fix it. maggotkit knew what
they had said. and they wanted the answer to.
it was like her life had just suddenly fallen apart
these past few weeks. She needed to find out
why maggotkit asked this question, she couldnt
yell at someone she had a crush on though. it
would put a bad look on Frogkit. So she decided
to handle it the easy, and non hard way. She tried
to calm herself down by deep breathing. but she
was hurt, and maggotkit knew it. she just needed
to act like everything was fine, and have her outburst
later.

"Oh um, I will just wait and see where starclan takes
me at this point, its hard, emotionally and physically. you
would know if you were in my place."

If Maggotkit were in Frogkit's place. It imagines stepping right into Frogkit's skin somehow, seeing from behind her eyes. No...that's probably not what she means. It paints a silly enough picture that Maggotkit has to bite its tongue not to laugh, though. Right now, it understands, would be a bad time to laugh. It's said something terrible and Frogkit looks weird about it. Maggotkit's no stranger to a disgusted look, but every face is different.

It heaves a sigh and rolls back to its belly, ratty little tail thumping on the ground. Maggotkit looks at its grimy paws. It likes being in its own place. It would hate to be in someone else's.

"Crowtooth said there was another queen," Maggotkit mentions after a moment. It's had some fun saying the bad things, so now it needs to try and be good again or Frogkit might not want to be friends anymore. "You know. She's got the spots. I bet you've seen her." Maggotkit can't remember Leopardsong's name for the life of it but it's seen her plenty around the nursery. It doesn't entirely understand the concept of a 'forever queen' but it also knows that it doesn't need to know everything about everything; there's someone who could help Frogkit the right way and that's what counts.

"You can't be so bad at having a mom that you'd lose three. Nobody's that bad at it." It continues plainly. This might be the closest Frogkit is getting to an apology while they're still kits. "So maybe you should ask her."

Frogkit looked away from maggotkit because that question
about getting another mom hurt her heart, she knew how
maggotkit was tho, they wanted an answer when they ask
a question, it's hard to think about getting another mom.
Sure, Frogkit wanted another mom, but she also didnt
want another mom.

"Oh well, I mean look, I would love another mom dont
get me wrong! But I just c-cant get another mom. I dont
want to get hurt anymore maggotkit! y-you don't know
what I have been through, and don't ask about it either.

I need time to decide if I want another mother or not.
and the time is going to be probably when I'm a warrior."

It can't ask about Frogkit? Hrm. It's being good, now, or else it would simply ask anyway—but it thinks it has a clever loophole found by chirping, instead: "Will you ever tell me about it? If I don't ask you?"

There's no point in talking about bad stuff if nobody wants to hear it, right? Maggotkit's just wondering whether it'll ever get to know, and it's not sure what to think if it won't. Perhaps it needs to wait, to be patient. Perhaps Frogkit just isn't done deciding how her story goes.

"Warriors don't need moms. They're stronger than that." Maggotkit points out, half-bitter. That might be the only good thing about becoming a warrior. But, maybe once Frogkit gets there herself, she'll want to make up for a lost opportunity. Maggotkit just hopes Windclan isn't all out of good queens by then.

"I won't ask the stuff you don't want me to," it clarifies, fixing Frogkit with an intent stare. It means this wholeheartedly in the moment, but there's always a chance it might ask, anyway, later on. "But I'll still ask stuff. Okay?"

Frogkit thought about what maggotkit had said about that
warriors don't need moms, she was determined to tell them
that warriors did need moms for bad times in life. She saw
some warriors crying close to their mom's side because they
had lost someone close to them in the war. it was sad to think
about it but you cant help it. It was reality.

Then she thought about what maggotkit had asked about if it
was going to get told about her past, sure when they are older,
just not now, its not the time.

"Did you not see all of those warriors walking back from battle
who were crying by their mom's side because they had lost someone
close to them. and I might tell you about my past when we are older.
just not now, take a hint. you wont get told everything you ask, you
need to grow up. like I said, take. a. hint." she said to maggotkit
in what seemed like an angry tone, but it was just her starting to cry.

In some distant way, Maggotkit knows that it should feel worse than it does right now. That's just the thing, though. It hardly ever feels bad, no matter how well it understands when it's done bad. In a way, all it's ever doing is trying to figure out what that feeling even is, why it doesn't have it, what it takes to get it--

But here Frogkit is, choked up and frustrated with it, and all Maggotkit feels is...what? It blinks slowly, breathes in deep, out slow. It just can't tell. Maybe entertained, like when it watches birds flit way up in the air over camp, or like when it hears a good story.

Oh. That's it, isn't it? Frogkit makes for a good story right now, and Maggotkit is thrilled to play a role in it. Heroes have to be hurt sometimes (the best ones, anyway; Maggotkit hates the ones who are just perfect and do everything with ease), and Frogkit is hurting.

"I am growing up, Frogkit. Sorry it's happening so slow." It grins, voice distant. Maggotkit stretches up onto its toes to emphasize its small shape. It can't grow up any faster than Starclan wants it to, not in body and not in mind. It knows this isn't really what she means, but it finds its own response too funny to backtrack on. Very pleased with itself, this kit. Horribly smug.

"Nobody lost anybody. Not really, right? Or else, what is Starclan all about? Cats don't go anywhere we won't find them eventually." Maggotkit hums. "I mean. I guess they go from in themselves to outside of themselves. But bodies don't go to Starclan, so that means whatever a cat is, it's not a body. All we lose is bodies. Is that so bad?" It frowns. It's confusing its own self. "Frogkit, are you angry or are you sad?"

Frogkit stood there. maggotkit had just apologized. she never thought
she would hear it apologize, it never apologizes, what if she apologizes
like maggotkit did? She needs to apologize. but apologizing isn't in her
mind, she doesn't know how to apologize, she wanted to be like it,
maggotkit. so she was going to be like it. "I-i'm sorry I shouldnt of did
that. I-i wen-t to far, I yelled at my bestfriend! i-i-i-I dont know what to do
right now, i-i feel like my heart is going to explode....." Frogkit said
shaking very violently. She was having a panic attack. She just sat there
she didn't know what to do.

It watches impassively, not sure what to make of this reaction at first. Frogkit's having...some kind of...fit? She sounds like she's been chased about the whole territory suddenly—looks like it, too. Maggotkit's not sure if it did this. It's not sure if it likes seeing this. Does she need to see Lightningstorm?

Ah, but if it took her to Lightningstorm, would it get in trouble if it did this to her somehow? Maggotkit doesn't want that.

"Frogkit? Frogkit, what are you doing?" Maggotkit asks softly. "It's okay. I get yelled at plenty. You were only mad 'cause I sad bad stuff. That's alright. Don't explode." It hasn't ever seen someone act like this as a result of its meanness. Maggotkit knows it's too little to have seen everything yet, though, so it hopes this is just a normal thing that can happen. "This is scary, Frogkit," it admits, though it doesn't sound very scared; it sounds the way it always does. Worry has its expression a little pinched, but that's about it. "What do I do?"

Frogkit stood there, looking wide eyed, she wasn't looking at anything,
she was looking forward just forward. She saw nothing. Until. It all went
black. Just blackness is all she saw, she had fainted, she was in her mind
now. Just nothingness, she could only hear her paw steps on the black
ground. Am I dead? I'm to young to die! she thought to herself,
but no one replied, it was just her walking endlessly in her mind.

"M-mag h-elp m-e" she said as she fell to the floor.
