Sleeping had been hard the past few days. Whenever he tried to close his eyes he would see red smeared over his mom's black and white fur, and when nothing but the soft breaths of sleeping cats disturbed the silence around him, her screams would echo in his head.
He wanted home. Back to Riverclan. Back to Wisteriawren and everyone else who was here. He didn't even know where they were, only that they had left, that Cowskip had tried to follow them, and that he was now separated from both. He was alive, sure, and thankfully so... but he wanted to also
feel it.
Then the sleep finally came. Or at least it felt like it, when the warmth of Leaopard's fur seemed to spread to be all around Springkit and subtle noises of snoozing cats faded into what sounded like gentle winds.
He opened his eyes, and the world around him was made of stars.
