it's turning sunset when Fenneldrop pads over to Bitternpaw. with the restrictions partially lifted, she found herself itching to take the apprentice out to the territory again. it didn't seem like his mentor was doing that anyway, so she might as well pick up their slack.

she scoffed mentally before brightening up. "hey, bitternpaw," she greeted with an open smile.

never is she sure what's safe. before, going out in the territory alone seemed the safest. now, she's not so sure. per Dawnstar's orders, a pair system was now the safest. but she's always suspicious anyway. anybody could be out there, lurking.

there's always something to do, though. she can't hide away from the snakes forever.

at least this snake seemed to have no fangs to bite her with. Bitternpaw was but a garter snake. a little runt.

"wanna go for a stroll or something? catch some prey?" she invited the apprentice.

Worry has been gnawing at his stomach as of late. Leapingpaw has been scarce, but it's scent still lingers around camp. But Silverpaw's has gone stale. What could it mean? There was no way that his brother could have gone missing, right?

... Right?

Lost in his thoughts he doesn't notice Fenneldrop approach. Doesn't hear her greeting. Only comes back to reality when she asks if he would like to venture beyond the camp walls. To which he blinks his weariness from his gaze and nods to her, only really having understanding half of what she had even said to him.

"Yes, of course. I'd hunt."

Maybe hunting would take his mind off of things. Or maybe alternatively he would find whispers of where his brother had run off to in the wilderness. What if he was hurt out there somewhere and no one had gone looking? He wouldn't be able to live with himself if that were the case...

"alrighty, then!" she replied cheerfully. she didn't know why she expected the kid to tell her to buzz off or whatever - maybe she was used to holding her breath (and her hope) whenever she asked her clanmates to do something with her. shadowclan had a tendency to be prickly, after all.

but bitternpaw, as far as she was concerned, proved to be polite. mostly. so she turned tail and led the way out of the territory. occasionally she glanced back over her shoulder with her eyebrow raised, making sure she was keeping an eye on the apprentice. no funny business here, nope.

"so. how's it been?" she asked him curiously, straying off path. sometimes she liked to figure out new places, not as grand as their landmarks, to hang around by. interesting trees or funny-looking boulders, the likes.

That was a loaded question. How have things been for him as of late? Boring, as always. Not being able to leave camp as much as he wanted always made camp life always seem slow and monotonous. Aside from that the fear of losing more of his family was terrifying to him. Leapingpaw had been scarce but it still made it's presence known around camp every now and then. Where it disappears off to he'll never know. But Silverpaw... Where was he?

Thoughts ruminate in his skull like angry bees, bouncing around any empty space they can find just to cause a headache. Stress and anxiety... Things he rarely experiences. That's how things have been. Visage not daring to leave the movement of his front paws, he speaks quietly, as if the vulnerability of his feelings would swallow him whole. Or make Fenneldrop laugh at him, either or.

"I've been... Worried. My older brother... I haven't seen him in over a moon. I just... I hope he's okay. Wherever he is."
