Alpinepaw was walking on top of the Apprentices' Den, her weight could not break the roof yet. The brambles were tough enough. Alpinepaw reached the edge of the roof and jumped down, slipping on the branches. Fortunately, she was able to quickly rotate herself into a more suitable position. Thump! Alpinepaw landed on all fours and saw a cat staring at her.

Cypress’paw looked up at the she curiously as she half jumped- half skidded down the stiff wall of the little apprentices den. “What in the world were you doing up there? Your name’s…. Alpinepaw, right?” He tried to smile at her and then winced, twisting his narrow shoulders round to his rump where he pulled out another of those starclan-forsaken thorns! “Sorry, a had a bit of a row with a bramble thicket earlier.. heh. I never got that stupid feather…” he trailed off, realising how daft he must sound as Alpinepaw furrowed her brow at him. “You looked lonely,” he meowed. “Thought you needed a friend. Wanna go on a walk.. or something??”

Alpinepaw furrowed her brow for a few seconds and shyly meowed, "Of course!" She padded off to the Camp Entrance and looked around. "I think I saw him before. But, I don't know where though." She thought. "What's his name again?" Her tail flicked in interest. Alpinepaw's pelt was warm thanks to the sunshine.

Cypress’paw followed Alpinepaw over to the camp entrance where he mewed awkwardly, “Cypress’paw’s my name, just in case you forgot.” He trotted out of the camp and only a few steps out into the sunshine he began to hop on three legs, cursing, as he pulled out another thorn from his back paw-pad. He waved his tail kindly for the she cat to follow him out into the sunny forest. “This will be fun!” He mumbled in an attempt to be pleasant. He trotted out into the forest, admiring the different plants and trees, the sun glistening off the surface of the streams, and birds waking to sing their morning tunes. What a nice walk. The sun was warm on his face, filling him with happiness. Today would be good.

She nodded at Cypresspaw. Alpinepaw enjoyed the sun's warmth as she followed Cypresspaw. A soft breeze was blowing from the north-west and it was quite refreshing. It was in the early morning that they left. Birdsong echoed throughout the lush green forest.

Anyways! Cypress’paw, light brown Tom with soft green eyes and white paws.

Cypress’paw walked through the forest with Alpinepaw, talking about random things and generally getting to know each other. Alpinepaw was cool! He hoped maybe they could be friends. Just when he began to say, “Oh yes, my favourite is magpie, what about you-” just then he felt his paw slide over a sandy hump in the ground, and dozens of tiny bodies crawling up his leg and sinking their pincers into his flesh. “AÆÅÆÆAÆĄACKKK!” He let out a dramatic kit-like shriek, shaking his paw to and fro. Alpinepaw, hurrying over to Cypress’paw, managed to step in the SAME anthill, letting out a less dramatic startled hiss, and shaking the ants off her paw. The two broke out in laughter, giggling the whole way over to the river, where they stumbled out onto the sandy bank. “Hey, because we are here now, wanna take a swim?” His fur itched to dive in, and splash around to cool off.

Alpinepaw, hurrying over to Cypresspaw, managed to step in the SAME anthill, letting out a less dramatic startled hiss, and shaking the ants off her paw. She started to giggle a bit the whole way over to the river, where she stumbled out onto the sandy bank along with her acquaintance. Alpinepaw replied, "No, I can't swim."

“Well then I’ll teach you!!” Cypress’paw mewed enthusiastically, dragging Alpinepaw down to the bank before she could refuse. He waded into the infinitely cold water, up to his belly, and pushed off the bank and began to paddle. “Look! All you’ve got to do is paddle a bit, like your walking on land. You don’t have to do much if you keep relaxed. You’ll float.” He grinned encouragingly at Alpinepaw, willing her to give it a try. “I’ll grab you if you struggle. It doesn’t look like it, but I’m a strong swimmer!”

Btw I gave Alpinepaw a chance to do space “learn a new skill” if you do two posts in the water, one can count for take a dip and the other the skill. If you don’t mind teaching Cypress something at some point? @Highsnow of Matterhorn
