Yawn. Stretch. Eat breakfast. Sleep.
That was Cottonpaw's usual routine. But she was an apprentice now! So let's change her schedule... Yawn. Stretch. Eat Breakfast. Groom her pelt.... and bother her mentor!!!!
Cottonpaw finished her breakfast, bright amber eyes wide was she padded to the warrior den, Cottonpaw didn't exactly know when she should wake him, so why not now? Cottonpaw didn't talk much and didn't plan on it now. Reaching out a fluffy white paw with her unique curly fur, Cottonpaw slapped her mentor's head gently. Cottonpaw backed out of the den with a smug smile on her face. Wiping it off of her face before her mentor came out. Humming as if she'd done nothing, Cottonpaw waited. She'd grabbed a squirrel to feed her mentor before going out. Yeah Cottonpaw could be a mischvious bundle of fur, but she had manners!

"Let's cover this place with flowers!"

Snakepelt gently blinked awake, startled by a white paw pressing into their forehead. They'd just had the strangest dream- strange as in horrifying. The whole camp was aflame, and when they tried to climb a tree, the flames flickered under their paws. Now they were somewhat thankful for being awoken.

"Oh"

A moment passed as they remembered what they were supposed to be doing. The faint sunlight blinded them as they came out of the den, squinting hard. They hated waking up at dawn unless it was necessary. In this case, it was indeed the latter.

"Give me a moment, Cottonpaw, don't wander too far off."

Snakepelt stretched, perking their ears as they blinked some more. They were starting to get used to the blinding light from the right. If it got too bad, well, they could just close their eyes, couldn't they? They cautiously flanked the excited apprentice, pace slow. With a soft flick of their tail, they watched Cottonpaw bring them a squirrel.

"Don't forget to feed yourself. An empty stomach isn't one you should work with,"

They planted their paws before sitting down to enjoy the fresh-kill.

The sun was bright, not yet bearing down the heat of the day, and it was prime time to start getting out. Training, specifically climbing, was something to start before the sweltering temperatures rose too high. There was no right or wrong time to climb a tree. In fact, Snakepelt didn't think the heat wave would affect anything about the climbing lesson. They just preferred to be in a breeze, otherwise everything became unbearable.

"Well,"

they cleared their throat, not stopping for a moment as they neared the camps entrance.

"Let's go, wouldn't want to get caught up in the heat."

It was more of a rushed statement then a suggestion. If there was something they hated more than anything, it was overheating. Which seemed to be an issue they couldn't avoid as of late. Patrols and hunting and teaching - not that they hated any of that. It was more of "hoping for an early leaf-fall."

Snakepelt imagined when WindClan cats came out of their camp it was like grass getting greener. But whenever a ThunderClanner made their way outside, the trees got greener. They'd always liked trees. Maybe that's why they were such a target for teaching climbing. Though, in this instance it was different. Cottonpaw was their apprentice, and it was their first outing. To say they weren't overwhelmed would be a lie. Normally they held a straight face, no impurities as far as the eye could see. But today, a nervous glint hung low in their eyes like it was embarrassed to show itself. Of all of the instances where they could have had anxiety, it just had to be now. Though Snake would never fully admit it, they could feel their pads start to feel hot.

"Well uh... have you had any climbing experience?"

The question hung in the thick air for a while. They could physically feel the thick in the air directly fall onto them, making it hard to walk the rest of the way. Snakepelt'd gone the more scenic route, figuring it better for Cottonpaw to get a more in-depth look of the territory while they were out and about. Nothing said mentor more like multi-tasking, right?

They sighed before they could reject it, treking further and further, waiting to reach the final destination. Sunkissed Creek.
