With her morning territory excursion complete and the territory void of any treats (at least for now), the deputy had found that she was a bit bored. So she had approached Owltalon, remembering one of their conversations from a few moons ago about their shared interest in skulls of prey. Glad to have the company for such a unique and odd outing, Dusklion had led the way to Rugged Range, figuring that if any part of the territory was going to have traces of bones it would be the driest part.
"Hopefully we can find somethin' cool," she chuckled, the excitement evident in her tone as she padded alongside the Lionheart. Blue eyes scanned the rocky space ahead of her, and something caught her eye up ahead. Eyes glittering with a silent challenge, the deputy glanced over at the Lionheart. "Hey Owls, how fast d'you think you are...?"
There was a pause as the smirk on her face grew. Dusklion gave maybe a moment or two for her question to sink in before she sprang forward into a full sprint, paws thudding against the ground and her tail streaming out behind her. Hopefully Owls didn't mind the sudden challenge to a race - after all, the deputy had to do something with all of this energy she'd had since making her recovery.

The Lionheart sat daintily by the freshkill pile, her breathing slow and steady, almost as though she was sleeping. It was early, as early as Owltalon would allow herself to get up and she still felt weighed down by the once abundant feeling of sleep. She stared out and watched the sunrise, her pelt warmthed by their rays. She watched as dew formed and slicked the ground and she breathed in the humidity. The shadows were long and painted the area with shades of deep and welcoming blue. She didn't have to have the best eyesight known to cat kind to know that mornings were the most beautiful parts of her day. Then, as always, something different came to greet her.
*****
Ah, Dusklion. Owltalon could always appreciate a cat with a knack for odder things. The bulky she-cat kept a brisk pace with Dusklion, her paws beating against the ground in a carefree manner as they trotted through rocky terrain. "Aye, just wanted ta thank ya for gettin' me off my flank, I kinda needed the wakeup walk, ya know?" While sleep still tugged at her like a dog on a leash, she was feeling much more lively with the possibility of finding bones. Oh what she wouldn't give to somehow find one akin to a badger as she hadn't seen any like that before. Perhaps she wasn't looking hard enough...
Dusklion also seemed excited which was nice. While Owltalon was a higher rank herself, she couldn't imagine the kind of strain Dusklion had to put on herself, it was almost enough to make Owltalon force her to stay in her den all day just so the whole clan could baby her and her brother, but she knew the deputy would never allow that... Not yet.
Then the energy of a nice relaxing walk shifted as something in the deputies expression changed. Owltalon tilted her head to the side and quirked up her brow. "Eh, commander? Ya see---" Oh. A question. Owltalon merely blinked at Dusklion before a smile toyed onto her brown maw. Haha! Bring. It. On. A moments pause before the deputy took off, a mistake on Owltalon's part, though it was kinda hard to pinpoint when she'd start galloping off.
For a cat who had been sick maybe a moon ago, Dusklion was about as jumpy as an overgrown kit. Owltalon smiled widely, teeth and all, before galloping after her. "Ya really think ya can beat me? I eat cats like ya fer breakfast, ha!" She unsheathed her claws to further grip herself onto the uneven ground, her fur fanning out behind her. The Lionheart cackled with glee, pumping her legs as though there was fire on her tail. She was shoulder to shoulder to Dusklion now, and she gave the deputy and lighthearted nudge and a wide smile.
Now this. This was what Owltalon called a good morning.
